Saw REO SPEEDWAGON on the 1979 Nine Lives Tour. Unbelievable show! Gary and Bruce were on fire. The whole band was! Very sad that one individual can destroy something so great. Bruce is an amazing bassist & singer. He can hold his own with anybody. A true class act! Keep rocking Brucester!!!
That is how I found you again. Not know you had a new channel. Original line up of REO: Alan Gratzer - Drums Neal Doughty - keybords (last original member that left REO Joe Matt - guitar Mike Blair- bass All were to sing except for Neal. Then they added: Terry Luttrell as lead singer. Gregg Philbin replaced Blair on bass. Bruce was their third bassist.
We now understand why Foreigner does what they do now. With Kelly Hanson and Jeff Pilson and his musical direction; it does the material justice and is a top notch show. Great vocals and great musical performances. Way more enjoyable all around. Maybe more of these bands need to do the exact same thing. Turn over the reigns.
Love Vern Daysel's music. Didn't realise he had a new one out. Appreciate the head-up! Love REO and Bruce has been a big part of why I like them so much. If he doesn't find a way back in, I'd up for a solo record.
Dave, You mentioned a tribute band for REO……… RICHRATH 3:13 , is the one to see !! Michael Jahnz toured with GDR for over a decade and he runs a killer REO tribute band and put out new original music in 2021 called L.A. is Mine
So true, Gary and Bruce were REO !!! So sad to all of us fans who started with them in the 70’s and stuck by them in the highs and the lows To tell you the truth I’m over the BS and if you read this Mr. Hall ,keep the rhythm Sir your in the pocket!!
LOL I just commented this same sentiment on your previous video! I should have watched this first! Oh well I needed the rant anyway. KC can go and keep on loving himself. I’m off to check out your musical suggestion 🙂 ETA: Not my thing but you described it well. Definitely some hints of The Black Crowes, so I pulled up their debut album for nostalgia. That was a great album! I can’t remember what I did yesterday, but I remember lyrics from 1989 😑
Sorry, but Bruce Hall is irreplaceable. The new guy might well be a great bass player, but no way is he better than Bruce, who is one of the best rock bassist, period. Bruce has the uncanny ability to throw some incredible "lead bass" licks, while still holding a killer rock-solid groove down. Very few bassists can do that. Your typical "lead bassist" has wild licks, but the bottom falls out when they go into overdrive... NOT the case with Bruce. Sorry, but Kevin must be getting senile or something. I'm not even interested in hearing anything "REO Speedwagon" without Bruce. Gary and Bruce made REO what it was and no longer is. And as far as Kevin's recent vocals, as grandma used to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything."
Matt Bissonette is definitely a top notch bass player and is highly likely to be able to play Bruce's parts properly but so can Bruce and he has history on his side so I'd love to see him back in the band.
Cronin played piano and guitar. Sonically that doesn't leave alot of room for Billy Sheehan - John Entwistle bass lines....Where did I hear this before....EVH!!!
Bruce Hall is an amazing bass player. Alan Gratzer on Drums, Neal Doughty on Keys, Gary Richrath on Guitar and Cronin on Vocals are the best of Reo for me. Throwing Hall under the bus is just wrong. I am not supporting Cronin from now on. The best has come and will be in my discography. Cronin solo works - OUT! IT IS A BAND OF IT'S MEMBERS, NO ONE GUY MAKES THE BAND!
I don’t think you misunderstood what Cronin said. He may have misstated. Or he may be delusional. If he misstated, he should phrase it more accurately. But NO WAY is current lineup the best REO ever.
Kevin is delusional. I heard him interviewed on Sirius/ XM by Melissa Etheridge on her show and he said he was singing better than he ever had. Of course it's not true. He used to hit some really high notes. My favorite REO tune is "Easy Money." Terrific vocal and lyric. Written by Gary.
Dave-Kevin has not been able to hit the high notes since the 90s. I’ve been an REO Speedwagon fan since High Fidelity and have seen them in concert. Kevin is just fooling himself and he doesn’t believe it. I agree with your comments on here.
Thank YOU Dave! As a longtime Reo Speedwagon fan of 50 years, I appreciate SO Much you looking into all of this and for your perspective on it all. You are spot on with your view as to what has taken place and Bruce and the die hard fans thank you. It is devastating to many of us on how this has all gone down and how Bruce was treated. Unfortunately as much as we would love to see Kevin admit he is wrong, I highly doubt that will happen. Kevin indeed lives in a make believe world where he thinks he is the only one who deserves all the credit and sees things through rose colored glasses. Kevin has ruined the legacy of the band when he decided it was HIS band to do what he wanted.😢

Cronin is acting like Paul Stanley who criticizes everyone else but fails to acknowledge his own limitations including lip syncing.
You are absolutely right!! and you absolutely get it carry on good soldier👏👏👏🙏

That's awesome that Bruce seen your video👍
Ridin the storm out is essential REO

Thank Dave. I agree 100%. Bruce got a crappy deal. I won’t spend a dime to see The Kevin Cronin band. Glad you’re back.
Dave,

Richrath Project 3:13 is the BEST way to go, ZERO EGOS!!
Thanks for the great videos Dave.
Dave you called it right. KC thinks he is so much better than the rest of us. No Bruce No REO.

Amen, KC is delusional and has thrown his band mate under the bus, sad.
Just subscribed Dave, glad you can leave a comment 👍
Excellent news
Awesome.
So if Bruce and Neal are shareholders in REO and presumably receiving a percentage of REO tour income , why would they want that to end?
Self Pride and Self Glory... nothing new to the condition with Kevin Cronin...

The Joe Biden Band has good vocal timing and phrasing.
