A PH1 screw driver is not a Phillips screwdriver. Phillips screw drivers are 1/4" (6mm) with a tip of a specific angle that's less than the one you're using. There's only one type of Phillips screw driver. The others are cross-point screw drivers of other types.

Thank you. My card had a terrible application of thermal paste from the factory so it would regularly hit 85c-90c while gaming. I kept it like that for 3+ years because i thought it would be too hard to open up the gpu but it was so easy. Now it doesn't go above 70c

I followed @NoPhayceX ‘s tutorial, and honestly the worst part is the stacking of the thermal pads, because it does soften with room temperature and just touching with your hands can extend them… I did as best as I could. I also found that cutting with scissors instead of a cutter gave a better result. Also one of the inner pads was absolutely STUCK, I cleaned as much as I could but there was still some paste left and I was getting tired of the process at this point honestly. I used arctic Mx-6 and used a spatula to spread it. When I reassembled there’s also a small screw that now doesn’t want to come out 😕. Testing right now on my computer if I see a difference in temps (looks like it does)

That stuff on the VRAM is referred to as "Thermal Putty". I've been replacing thermal pads with thermak outty for a few years now. Works good, and there are quite a few good options these days. It squishes better than thermal pads can, so you can get much better core contact/pressure since the putty won't steal as much of the force that pads can. It' the perfect paring with a Phase Change Material such as Honeywell PTM7950 or similar.

Are all of the thermal pads 2mm because in other videos people keep saying VRMs have 1,5mm thick pads and memory has 2mm pads ?

why you used 2mm thickness pad but you showned 1 mm by measurement?

Hi friend, I have a 3080 of this model with a problem with the first fan (the one closest to the rear panel) and I'm going to have to buy a pair of fans to replace it because the ones at the ends are only sold together. My question is: can I replace the fans without having to disassemble the entire board, removing just the front part? I would appreciate it if you could answer me.

Thanks for this video dude! I followed the steps of the video and the advice of people in the comments with the Arctic TP3 and MX4. After new past and thermal pads my core temp went from 90c to 70c and hotspot went from 110c to 86c. This all with lower fan speeds and probably higher clocks.

Hi, such a great video!! However, I added the 1mm pads, same brand you have on all but got CPU temps between 85 to 92C and 74 to 80 on GPU while gaming. I saw other blogs I have to add some 0.5mm pads on the VRAM. I added the Arctic MX-4 thermal paste on CPU and GPU. Would it be the thermal paste? I heard Arctic are good ones or do you recommend me adding the 0.5mm ones on the VRAM? I also have a Turiq TX-4 thermal paste just in case I have left due to a PC maintenance I did.

Mine from Gigabyte, one of the first was different in a way, but the process was similar, good that I decided to do it, since the paste was pretty much non existing and it was actually one of those metal pads. The hotspot on mine is now 41 and the temp on edges 36 C which should be good enough. In the future the pads have to be changed as well, but they were quite ok and I did not have replacements. Lucky for me, I did not have to go deep, the connectors on mine are almost impossible to disconnect, so I just lifted it up a bit.

What's a good fan upgrade for the model 17t-an100. My right-side fans went out however I think while I'm in there I'll replace both, but I'd like to upgrade them to something better that's able to bring the temps down even further.

Those who are having trouble with removing LED connector/who want to open the gpu up, there is an easier/safe method to do so. After removing screws from backplate, instead of removing LED conmector try to remove the 4 heatsink screws and then carefully slide the heatsink between the PCB and the fan casing. Now with the available space between pcb and fans, you'll be able to find fan connectors being daisy chained, you can easily remove those 4 pin daisy chain fan connectors one by one and now the gpu will be opened up. 1mm VRM pads and 0.5mm VRAM pads are a must. Press on the back plate when reassembling everything
