Love this card. Very detailed video. You earned my sub. Keep it up.
Many Thanks man! Much Appreciated! Take care.
Thats very handy! I dont know, why is it so hard to get info about thermal pads thickness
I know, that's one of my reason why i made this channel..a lot of people searching for the information they need but some struggle to find one. Glad to hear my videos help others. Thanks bro!
Great and detailed job. Keep it up with the good work.
Hi I wanted to ask. When installing the new thermal pads. Why did you use two different versions? Also, what thickness were they? since the links in your description show 1.5mm thermal pads but in the video you show when measuring them that they are 1mm thickness? Oh and did you add new thermal pads to the screw in heatsinks too. Were they 1mm thickness too? I'm confused as to which ones I should buy or does it not matter?
Hi bro! sorry for the confusion regarding on my videos..all the links on the Description are only reference only for parts and tools related to whats in the video..but not necessarily exactly the same on what's in the video. Whatever measurements you see in the video is the ACTUAL THICKNESS based on my personal observation about the materials. And regarding the two different color of pads i've used, that would happened sometimes on my tutorial videos due to sometimes the pads that i've used run out and not enough for the whole areas to cover, so i've used other brand of Pads whatever is available during the Tutorial, that's the reason sometimes they have different color but they are exactly the same thickness for sure only the Brand and color is different..hehehe! Thanks for your comment bro! appreciated!
Thank you for the detailed response! I understand perfectly now how to do everything. This video has helped out lots
You're welcome bro! and thank you for the support! Enjoy!
I'm going to remove the black plastic shroud with the fans because they're so loud, especially at around 60% fan speed and above, and replace them with two regular 120mm fans (via an adapter I already used on a different GPU). Could you tell me which of the two black and white connectors is the fan controller and which is for the light?
Thanks for the video, I have that card, its fast but the downside is that it's loud so i moved it to my workstation instead of my main gaming gpu, overall its the best card i have. What it has LED 1:46 connector? I don't see mine having led lights?
That " MECH " emblen at the top that lit up.
Thanks Bro! Take care!
@@TakeThatScrewOutmine doesn't light up...
Great tutorial good job
Thanks bro, appreciated! Take care.
Can you do a temperature test on the card? I noticed the hot spot temp on this card is bad
Hi bro! I think a have a game footage recorded on this particular gpu with the themps shown on the screen that i haven't yet uploaded..i'll try to look for that footage.
Appreciate the video! Very helpful
Thank you so much for the positive feedback! I'm happy to hear that my videos help a lot of people..thank you for your full support. Take care!
Thx you so much. Thats exactly what i looking for!
You're welcome bro..Glad I could help! Thanks for the support! take care!
Did you try test temperature without the backplate? It is made of plastic so it cumulates heat on the back side indtead of conducting heat and emmising it out of the card like metal backplates do.
the plastic backplate serves as protection cover of the outer side of the pcb. No, i haven't tried to use this gpu without the backplate.
Hello, I would be glad if you could help me. I have the same card. The temperature is 75cc, the hotspot is 110, is this normal? It is a 3-year card.
Hi there! can i using the 1.5 mm thermal pads instead of 1.0mm ?
Thank you very much, was thinking in painting my gpu but I was afraid of the dissasembly and thermal pad and paste replacements! Any good thermal pads to buy from Amazon?
No worries bro! Yes, loads to choose from Amazon..Arctic TP-3, GELID, SYY etc.
TEUCER Pepoyo AI also good i've used it in the past
bro do you know thermal pads thickness MSI Radeon RX 6600 XT MECH OC? is it the same of 6700? Thank you!!
Hi Bro! I can't confirm the 6600 xt pads thickness..I've tried to gather some researched about the info from MSI site and other blog post from other owner, but unfortunately can't find one bro. I am assuming it should be the same thickness with RX 6700 xt MECH that is 1mm thickness..you can't go wrong using a 1mm on that particular card. just make sure use a good quality Thermal Pads and a Soft one like the ARCTIC TP-3 or equivalent pads.
I realy want to watercooler its that possible? And about changing the backplate?
That depends which gpu cooler that you want..there are few options like MZXT Kraken G Series gpu cooler, EK Block conversion kit & corsair. You should check the compatibility of your gpu.
do you have any idea of the size of each type of screws on that GPU?
thank you, 1mm it is then
You're welcome! Enjoy!
Hey, fancy seeing you here!
Nice video. 1mm is the official size thermal pads?
That's right bro! 1mm thickness on pads..
Does this video also work for RX 6650 XT Mech?
Are these heatsinks copper or aluminum?
Can I use minus pads from thermal grizzly for this card?
Love ur vids btw
Thanks Bro! Ofcourse you can use the Grizzly minus pad, i recommend use the EXTREME version bro..👍
i heard the 6750xt version runs warm. do you think corsair 4000d airflow case and 3 intake/2 exhaust fans will help?
That case is brillant performer..if possible to fill all the Fan slot available, do it mate! And if you want your GPU to perform its best, never go for VERTICAL POSITION and use a PCIe ext. cable..Direct contact to the PCIe GPU & MOBO is the best., and if your Case allow..Use three 120mm or two 140mm INTAKE from the buttom of the case UPWARDS cause Heat direction normally goes Upwards direction. And the TOP FAN SHOULD BE EXHAUST. that make a big difference.
It is I’m at 72c most of the time
This temp is average for heavy loads..which is really good
Hello,
Can I see the memory temperature on this card?
it's much more easier to teardown than the rx 580 mech 2x oc model 💀
Definitely..this dual fan card is very straight forward and easy to work with..only few screw and you could access those important areas for maintenance..good design.
hi your video is really help me but i have one question. can i use 0.5mm thermal pads?
No, the pads need to make good contact with the heatsink or else it won't do anything.
Do you happen to recall the size/dimensions of those vram chips? Are they 14mm x 12mm?
Sorry all my hardware just come and go on my studio so quickly. I cannot check this for you anymore. Take care!
hey! so i was planning on painting this GPU shroud and backplate white, but i have never disassembled a GPU before and i'm nervous about it
do you think its possible to remove the backplate from the PCB without having to replace the thermal pads or repasting the GPU die?
i'm worried that when i take off the heatpipes from the PCB, that the thermal pads will end up ripping off and i would have to replace them
repasting the GPU isn't that big of a deal, but having to cut out the thermal pads in the right shape for each memory module seems a bit annoying
Unfortunately, you have to remove the Chunky heatsink to access those screws that holds the Plastic backplate. Those screws that holds the VRM's strip heatsink is on the middle part of the pcb..that needs to be remove as well bro so you can fully detach the backplate from the pcb. I know is a bit annoying isn't it! 🙄😔
very detailed video...
Thanks for the positive comment! Be safe!
Is is possibile to install a bigger radiator with 3 fans from diffrent model?
Sorry, i didn't get what you mean by radiator with three fans..do you mean like water cooling 360 aio?
@@TakeThatScrewOut Like ASRock Radeon RX 6700 XT Challenger Pro or Phantom version.
Not possible bro, they have a different screw layout on the pcb.
great bro🙂
Thanks mate! Take care!
I have noctua nt-h11 laying around, is it good for the card?
That's a really good paste bro..one of the best i've used.
what are the specs of the fuse of that gpu? I need purchase some for replacement. Thank you
sorry bro, I can't give you the right answer of your question..I never go through that deep on this tutorial, this tutorial is only for Basic information on disassembly, Fans, pads and paste info. I hope a have the answer of that question.
Buen video, muy util
please do a video teardown and thermal pad replacement\thickness for gigabyte rx 6600 xt gaming oc pro and rx 6800 xt gaming oc please!
yes, will do in near future. still working on Palit Rtx 3070
Please check some of my videos, i had already with Gogabyte Rx 6800 xt Gaming OC. Just check them. 6800 xt and 6900 xt nearly similar setup inside.
@@TakeThatScrewOuthello, please video with rx 6600 xt mech 2x OC
Hi bro! I'll see what i can do bro..i'll let u know if i could source out those particular card.
@@TakeThatScrewOut ok, bro. Thank you 🙏😊
Hey man, can you please try to teardown the MSI Mech Rx 7600 please?
Hi bro! I'll see what i could do, at the moment i have on hand the RTX 4060 that could be this coming week. I'll do my best if i could source out that particular gpu. 👍
@@TakeThatScrewOut Thank you so much for the comment! I am hopeful that you'll be able to acquire the Mech Rx 7600.
I was also looking into the rtx 4060, particularly the MSI Gaming X model but it is $110 more expensive than the Mech Rx 7600 in my region :| Plus, my monitor is only Freesync via HDMI port (no nvidia - adaptive sync).
However, I forgot to thank you on one particular observation. It seems that on the Mech in this video, the fans and the plastic shroud with the fan can be disassembled without harming the warranty sticker on the backplate and that is a GREAT news for those of us who like to keep us PCs clean from dust! Thank you for showing this! Although, I hope that it is also possible with the Mech Rx 7600. Good luck!
@@TakeThatScrewOut I'm sorry, there's one thing I forgot to ask. What is the blue stick that you have used to take off the thermal paste? 😅
You're welcone bruh! The Blue stick called " PRYING TOOL" you could buy the in Amazon, ebay or other online retailer. By the way, my upcoming Tutorial video is ASUS DUAL RTX 4060.
@@TakeThatScrewOut That has a nice design. A bit transparent on the plastic cover shroud.
Unfortunately, I will never buy asus because of its extremely high regional prices. I will still look forward to that teardown! Good luck!
Morning sir. What happen if i used 90% alcohol to clean chip in gpu? Sr for my bad english
Thats perfect bro, 99 or 90% is not much difference..the reason i dont recommend the lower 70% is because it takes time to dissipate the liquid. But if 70% is only available to you, you can use it..just make sure to dry up before putting all the compinents together using blower or simpky hair dryer.
please tell me, I have the same video card and when replacing thermal paste, the temperature has increased significantly...I noticed that the radiator does not fit snugly to the chip , there is a gap . How to fix it?
Check if the thermal Pads is the right thickness..i suggest use a good quality pads and paste. With pads use Arctic the blue color, Gelid or TEUCER ther.al Pads..with paste use NOCTUA NT H2 or ARCTIC MX6.. and make sure the heatsink and pcb is properly sit before you screw it back..sometimes thats the one reason it cause a gap. Hope this helps
the old saying. if not screwed do not fix it. but nice to learn how to clean the outer part of fan and dissipator
@@TakeThatScrewOut case always opened all sides. it's huge the amount of heat those beauties produce. mine is 6750xt mech 2 oc msi.
Its big help using a case with intake buttom fan that blows direct to the gpu and exits at the top.
Mine too i opened and the thermal paste was all dried, and i chamged old one for new noctua and the thermal pad but it got hottel maybe from 75 tem and 92 junction tem, to temp 75 and 97 sometimes 100 in junction tem, and the fans are loud 2300 rmp
por fin MSI hizo un buen diseño del disipador para una placa de video y tambien coloco bien los pad termicos y no como en las MSI mech serie 5000 que hicieron muy mal trabajo 🤣
What is the thickness of the thermal pads you put on the GPU?
1mm bro.
hey, just wanted to asked that by watching your video i changed my paste (GC EXTEME) before applying my temps were high about 86C hotspot were 115c no after changing my temps decreased to 76 max but hotspot is still at 113C should i change the thermal pads to. BTW i have the same model as in your video.
That's a big drop 10c, well done bro! Yeah, if possible change the pads too with a good quality one like Gelid or Arctic, they perform really well.
@@TakeThatScrewOut thanks for guiding. Well just ordered 15W gelid pads 1mm after watching your video. I hope that this will fix my hotspot temps.
You're welcome bro, thanks also for your support..take care!
I would like your help
@@TakeThatScrewOut I Bought the size as you suggested in the video. When i changed my pads to 1mm i noticed that the hotspot went straight to 115c although the small heatsink that you showed i changed their pads to and my vrm themps are now in 70c. I need your help should i buy 0.5 mm pads now ?
I would like to replace the thermal pad due to high junction temperature. It seems that 1mm is not enough for some people to replace.
Is 1.5mm OK?
The model is RX 6700XT MECH 2X.
If you really need to use 1.5mm choose a pads that is soft like Arctic or similar..don't use Gelid cause its hard, only suitable if use similar thickness from stock.
did your junction temps reduce mine are high i just down clocked my core and undervolted the card it seems to help
I got the same RX 6700 XT it makes a clicking sound and gets to 90 degrees could this repair fix it?
Thats sounds interesting..you have to figure it out where that clicking sounds came from, and thats temps is quite high. if both fans still spins normally during heavy loads, maybe you can try to open it up change the pads and paste with a good quality..make sure to use the right thickness of the pads it uses 1mm thickness
@@TakeThatScrewOut Okay, that sounds like a plan. I already have good thermal paste, the Noctua H2, so do I buy the thermal pad in the description? There are two of them.
That's a good choice of thermal paste.. If you want you can use the link in the description, make sure to click the right link based on your Country, and choose the correct thickness.
@@TakeThatScrewOut Yes, very good thermal paste, but there are two links for thermal pads. Which one should I buy?
@@DokDokey wait bro, i'll make a new link for you for the 1mm pads
Hello,
Can I see the memory temperature on this card????????
Hi Bro! with regards on this particular card MSI RX 6700 xt MECH, yes I have a Recorded Game footage playing COD WARZONE and other Games using this card, but i haven't got a chance yet to edit and Upload that video due to been on Holiday. But i will upload those video soon. I'll try to watch and check those footage if i could find the MEMORY TEMPS for that card. I'll be back to you as soon as i can.
Amazing video, was this card used for mining?
Nope! This card is just slightly used, used for slight games and video editing..thanks for you positive review man! Appreciate it!
hey anyway is it ok to apply thicker thermal pads ?
Should be fine if the thicker difference no more than 15% than the recommended one..and make sure its a soft thermal pads..be aware there are few Pads are stiff. Don't use those pads. Stiff pads only best for the right thickness
@@TakeThatScrewOut i see , thanks for your guidance, i have the same card but it's used so i need some maintenance which is important to keep these from overheating, i actually has a plan to use copper thermal pads, but dont worry i already researched how to apply those stuff
blackplate is plastic ?
Yes its a Plastic..its just a cover, unlike other gpu that has metal that serves as a heat spreader.
@@TakeThatScrewOut thanks not good in plastic
Quite a small heatsink for 200 watts
You're right! But this card perform quite well..🙂
Msi can't do it right I had to do it my self . now temps are great with hot spot only geeting to 79c at high settings. Was 110c hot spot. Msi said 100c was normal. LOL
good job bro!
Привет, а какой фирмы и какой размер вы использовали термопрокладки?
Sorry bro! Can't answer your question. If you could translate it to English that would be great. 😀
Используй либо thermalright odyssey, либо fehonda. Также вместо mx4 купи honeywell, его точно не выдавит и он продержится гораздо дольше
@@TakeThatScrewOutHi, what company and what size of thermal pads did you use?
I've used different Brand normally..but when it come to Thermal pads based on my personal exoerienced..i recommend Arctic TP-3, GELID EXTREME, XTREME ODESSEY or TRUCER. but Arctic i've used most of the time because its a bit soft side..it could easilly adopt the gap and it performs as good as the other high end brand.
I have the same card and i have problem... Max load GPU i have 105C~ hot spot. What i need too do? I have guarantee MSI. They can repair my GPU or they tell me its normal for this GPU?
This is my suggestion: If you still have the warranty, try to file for RMA ( Return Merchandize Authorization) and let MSI to fix the problem for you for free..because, if you try to do it yourself, you open the back and change the Thermal Pads and Repasting it..that might solve the Thermal Throttling Issue, but you've break the WARRANTY SEAL AND VOID THE WARRANTY. the problem is, we don't really sure whats really the main cause of the Very High Temps..Doing it by yourself only advisable if your card is already OUT OF WARRANTY. hope this helps.
105 deg is too much..i've played many games for hours most of my card..Temps only averaging netween 58-65. But that would vary depends on many factor, like how many fans inside your case and what type of pc case you're using..
@@TakeThatScrewOut He's talking about the GPU HOT SPOT, that is, the Junction temperature which is much higher than the normal gpu temperature in this card. I think in his case it's normal.
Is this the same as the mech2 x
Honestly, Can't give you the right answer right now because i haven't done the Mech2 yet..but i would do soon..i have two cards to do this week, its ASUS RTX 3060 Ti TUF Gaming and GIGABYTE RTX 3060 TI Gaming OC..please consider Subscribe to see more videos. Thanks!
Any infos so far? Do you know if the Thermal pads for the mech 2x are also 1mm??
@@nm4520 so I repasted mine and re did most of the pads which where really only v ram … I can confirm that the 1mm pads are working well for the v ram chips.. the main heat sync only has v ram pads and a spot for the thermal paste for the die.. there at two smaller heat sinks that on my card that are black and skinny that have terminal pads as well I decided not to change mine cuz I wasn’t sure.. to me it’s possible that those are 1.5mm but I didn’t wanna risk having to tear mine apart and at the time wasn’t sure if I could actively monitor those if something was wrong… anyway no issues with mine so far
What is the "normal" tempeture with this gpu
After the repaste, on heavy loads Playing COD Warzone 2.0 for about 2 hours temps fluctuate between 57-65 deg with Lianli Pc-011 Dynamic Midi case with 8 fans..this may vary depends on various factors..case,fans, room temps etc.
@@TakeThatScrewOut How about the Junction Temperature? When you open the Adrenalin software you can see both the GPU and the Junction Temperature.
Why backplate needed to be removed?
you don't have to remove the backplate to repaste or change thermal pads..i've just remove it to show whats behind it and if you need to clean the back of the pcb.
Hi sir what is the max total gpu power in real life for this gpu?
According to MSI official specs on this particular card it would draw 230 Watts..but in real life that normally fluctuates within that range.
I use with a slight undervolt and see 150watt
Is there any generic option to replace her plastic BackPlate with a metal one? To have a more effective thermal exchange (even put a thermalPast between the BackPlate and the back of the memories - I did this with my old 5700XT).
I ask this just out of curiosity, because I use it with Undervolt, so I have no concerns about temperature
Well, perhaps you could try searching in ebay for custom made backplate for this particular gpu..but i doubt if you could find one bro..
after 3 years of warrant I do this
Rx 6750 xt?
I'll do that soon..by the way, At the moment two Tutorial video would be posted by next week ASUS DUAL 6700 XT and XFX 6700 XT. Thanks for the comment.
