Doing something different today! We are going to run through a graph built by one of my Think Tank Students and discuss what worked, and where there's some room for improvement. I'll then take Alex through making my own sand material from scratch and hopefully we learn some tips and tricks along the way :)

Hex Pattern Trick for Materials from THE FUTURE

AHH the good ol' hex pattern. Want to make a forcefield? Hex Pattern. Need a UI targeting array? Hex Pattern. *Slaps car of hood* "This baby can fit so much future in it". In almost all of these cases you will want a mask that describes the intersection of these separate elements. In this video we will g...

    • @JohnnyHalcyon3D
      @JohnnyHalcyon3D 2 месяца назад

      I don't see how it's stupid - It essentially is layers. If you were to lay the nodes out on top of each other it really is similar. I'm not sure I understand the complaint!

    I think this is the value of art, rather than purely designing according to physical rules. If we simply imitate shapes without portraying real feelings, the final performance effect in the work will be compromised

  • @ajuelee
    @ajuelee 2 месяца назад

    It's very enlightening, especially for the choice of art at the level of details. It's important to grasp the overall feeling rather than to go into details

As a total beginner who bought a lot of tutorial and being disapointed by most of them, the amount of knowledge with clear explanation you are displaying about how the node work and not just pluging them one after another without the " WHY " is just amazing. Thank you again !

    In the beginning you mentioned about building your own satin into the shader instead of using the metalness %50 hack. Could you do a tutorial on how you would go about doing that the proper way? I'd like to see your game engine friendly approch. Also, your starting shader ball has more detail, I increased the tessellation but it still doesn't have the same look. Cheers.
