I understand wanting Hyper Sonic too; but I feel like a lot of your arguments don’t really understand why Hyper sonic hasn’t returned despite the “hypocrisy“. Like, there are other super forms? Yeah but they require different transformation items. Excalibur Sonic is made using, well…Excalibur. Hyper Sonic is made using the Chaos Emeralds plus the Master Emerald to boost them. If Hyper Sonic is available, so is Super Sonic, and it should be doing the job all on its own. Which brings us to them not wanting to be like Dragon Ball. The problem isn’t that they don’t want to steal their ideas, it’s that they want to avoid the power crept form trope with Super Sonic. Super Sonic is supposed to be special in a way the yellow haired Super Saiyan 1 simply isn’t anymore; especially since Sonic only goes Super once per threat on average (although we’ll need to see if the Frontiers formula continues to change this). Super Sonic should always be the thing to save the day because of this, it should never be “not enough,” it should never “do nothing”…so there’s no reason an actual Sonic plot should go into Hyper Sonic. The only real context I could see them using Hyper is that of its first appearance; a hard-to acquire unlock, maybe tied into a non-canon boss battle or something.

Assault is a very close second to Zero at being my favorite Star Fox game. If we get another new game better than both combined, it could potentially surpass both Star Fox games as my favorite. I don’t know if you’re aware, but there are indie developed Star Fox styled on rail shooters like Fur Squadron & Whisker Squadron, you should check them out.

I think the most interesting part about these games is seeing how many scrapped ideas would eventually be re used in future titles. Like the gyro walker in StarFox 2 going to Zero

I do remember hearing rumours about the Sonic Adventure remake back in the day. From what I heard, It had the same problem as MW2R, where they couldn't decide whether they wanted to fix all the glitches, sound issues, voice acting and buggy animations. There were playtests of a demo, but it was very disliked as it was too different from the original game. I've also heard supposed rumours that Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric was intentionally sabotaged by Sega as a tax write off (Similar to Superman 64). Take this one with a pinch of salt though

11:10 - Doomed by being essentially anything from a few years (Wii) to almost two decades (now) too early - especially when Multiplayer focused. Assault being on a single monitor, with Multiplayer Online 8 player, up to 4 player Co-op would have drastically altered the Starfox gaming landscape. Especially with the likes of Wing-riding. But, again, the fan base decried it, because it wasn't 64 and they couldn't gel with the, admittedly clunky, control scheme for the on-foot levels, making up ~60% of the games short 10 missions. As a concept, I honestly think this is the way to drive Starfox forward, and transform into Nintendo's stylised version of the likes of Battlefield, Starwars:Battlefront, Ace Combat, etc. I'm afraid I can't help but look down on the fans that boo'd this on release because what was given, in reality, is actually very good. If you could rework the control scheme to work like dual stick shooters, you would eliminate a large amount of problems that people had with the original beyond being annoyed that it's not constant On-rails shooting.
