Tuna at the Tanner Banks | El Dorado | Long Beach, CA September 2024
This was an overnight trip to the Tanner Banks on the El Dorado out of Long Beach, CA. Some challenging conditions that required using 20 pound test and size 4 hooks in order to get bit. I hooked two and landed one. Had some trouble with tangles and people not following their line, but feel fortunate to have landed that one. Lots of boat pressure, but we made the best of it. Please take a look and make sure to like and subscribe. I greatly appreciate all the support. I will be going out on this trip again on December 12, 2024 so if you would like to join me for a BOGO trip please check it out!

BOAT LIMITS of BLUEFIN TUNA with a surprise catch! | Polaris Supreme | San Diego, CA July 2024
Просмотров 7 тыс.Месяц назад
Check out the footage from this 3-day trip aboard the Polaris Supreme. We had boat limits for 3 days so the 18 of us got 108 bluefin on the boat. As always, the captain and crew of the boat was exceptional and really made the trip as special as it was. We had some trouble with the Mako sharks on the first night and the weather was a little bit up, but that didn’t slow us down. There was even on...

FISHING WITH KIDS - June 2024 | Chubasco II | Oceanside Sea Center | California Saltwater Fishing

A fun day fishing with the family on this three-quarter day trip aboard the Chubasco II out of Oceanside Sea Center. Despite the red tide and rockfish with bellies full of pelagic red crab, we had a great time as a family catching some fish. I highly recommend this landing and the crew if you ever want to take your kids out for a little fishing. #fishing #rockfish #saltwaterfishing #sportfishin...
The only white Seabass of the trip
Просмотров 5954 месяца назад
This lucky angler was able to hook into the only white Seabass that we caught on the trip on the pride out of 22nd St. Landing. Overall, the two day trip was pretty good, but I didn’t get too much footage. A majority of what we caught was just rockfish, but there was some halibut as well as this one Seabass. #californiasaltwaterfishing
ROJO LOCO - Colonet, March 2024 | Horizon | Baja California | California Saltwater Fishing

This trip was aboard the Horizon out of H&M Landing in San Diego. It was a 1.5 day trip that fished down in Colonet Baja California. We were targeting rockfish primarily, but we were on the lookout for yellowtail and possibly some nighttime tuna if they showed up. The water was just a little too cold for the pelagic fish, but the rockfish were more than happy to bite. The weather got pretty nas...

Long time no see , congratulations great to see ya show bud 😅😅😅😅
Always good to land your 1st fish, that way if u lose the next 1 it ain't too bad. Looks like fun fishing on the anchor for BFT, never tried that before
Wassup brother! Good to hear from you… yeah getting tuna on the anchor is a trip. As you can see all the lines go to one corner versus just all on one side of the boat in a drift. It’s weird for sure. Thanks for the support and hope all is well. Keep killing it out there…
THE BEGGINING🤣🤣🤣
That wasnt the other line that made you loose the fish. You wouldve felt his line as he supposedly pulled. You unbuttoned and pulled his line in as you were reeling your bare hook back.
Interesting perspective. Who knows? Thanks for the feedback...
Nice grade of fish👏🎣😎
Thanks 👍 Appreciate the support!
You hung a bluefin on 25#? :D >< Buhtt kicker!
@@tanglediver actually it was 20lb floro. Yeah, total butt kicker for sure
Private boater here. How does an overnighter (24hrs?)to the bank work? Isn’t it a 10hr ride both ways? Only 4hrs to fish?
Yeah you only get 5 maybe 6 hours at best to fish the bank so an overnight ends up becoming a half day in terms of fishing time. It’s a pretty aggressive timeline to say the least.
The dude chumming 🤣
I did an overnight trip in august and same thing, a lot of aggressive inexperienced meat fisherman. I have stuck to 3 day minimum trips to get away from all this, like you unless I have a newbie requesting I'll stick to my 3-7 day trips.
@@tamalpias totally agree with ya! Thanks for the support
I know what you mean .....been on Some boats with that type of CRAP going on ,that's why I always say PAY Attention to the Deckhands they do this Day in day OUT but I see no one listens that is why they dOnT CATCH anything.
Do they only fish for rockfish in the Dec BOGO trips?
@@thomaskong5 I believe the trip in December is just rock fishing at 300 feet and deeper. Should be fun. However, with your BOGO ticket you can fish for surface fish during 2025 if you like. I think the only restrictions are no Saturday or Sunday trips and no sponsored trips. It’s totally worth it. I am going on the rockcod trip on the 12/13 of December and the will probably use the free trip on a springtime island trip or the rockfish opener in 2025.
That's some sloppy fishing right there! Not on the hooked up fisherman, but those that weren't. Would have loved to have heard more chatter from the El Dorado crew reinforcing the unhooked fishemen what to do. It's exciting times when the fish are biting and some aren't thinking straight..... maybe even the deckhands??? Where was the crew when this sh*t show was going down?
yeah I see this pretty often on these overnight BFT or other pelagic types of trips. You get a lot of inexperienced guys who just don't pay attention, are unaware of the etiquette, and cause problems so people lose fish. The crew was trying but you could tell they were getting frustrated when people were just zoning out and not listening. I had say numerous times for people to move to the left for example and would often see guys in the same spot not moving at all. It's not just this boat but a lot of boats have this problem with newbies. If you watched my most recent Polaris Supreme Three Day video you don't see this sort of sloppiness because those anglers know what they are doing for the most part. I can understand being new but you gotta listen to the crew, be aware of your surroundings and be courteous. The guy who snagged me when he reeled in his slack line and caused me to lose my second fish had no apologies about it. SMH This might be my last overnight tuna trip for a while. The crew did try but if paying customers don't want to listen not much they can do. Thanks for the comment and support!
Deckhands work for tips. Therefore, the hands that will check a customer are few and far between.
That's right Paul get em and very nice first shot a guy throwing up if ever film me throwing up you better buy a drink after 😂
Haha! You got a deal on that one my friend!
Yeah Paul. Thanks for the share buddy!
Much appreciated!
Caught some awesome fish in Coronado
Thanks! The halibut was an interesting surprise for sure
Makos are relentless
You have to pay the tax man when catching big fish
Isn't that the truth, haha!
Watched the whole thing. Thanks for the video braddah 🤙 damn well worth watching.
Thank you so much my brother! I really appreciate the support. Hope this season is treating you well!
At first no. But I did go on the freedom for a 1.5day on the 6th of August. Ended up with limits of bluefin and nice nig grade yellowtail. Catch you out there braddah 🤙.
Ya have catch some nice fish guy 😅😅😅😅😅
Love the video sir, I you don’t mind can you please share the details on your rod and reel setup cause I love the setup that you are using. Maybe one day I will be able to catch a big fish like you. Thanks 🙏
Thank you! For my gear I had an Avet JX Raptor (the red reel) with Seeker 3x4 rod. It's a little heavy but does the job well for night time jigging. That had 130lb PowerPro and a 200lb leader. For the daytime I was using an Avet JX with 40lb power pro and a Seaguar 25lb blue label flouro leader with an Owner size 4 hook on a Seeker Black Steel rod (MH I think). I brought some other rods that I didn't end up using much for fly lining heavier line and sinker rigs. Those two set ups as well as using a boat rod to test out the Maxel reel were primarily it. Of course before any trip that you take I highly recommend contacting the landing you are going out of to see what tackle you need including jigs, hooks, etc. Before you go out and spend a bunch of money maybe try out some rental gear to get a sense of works best for you. And of course the boat and crew make a huge difference. I can't say enough good things about the Polaris Supreme. I think their 2025 schedule is going online this week so check that out and reserve a spot if you can. Thanks so much and tight lines...
@@californiasaltwaterfishing9212 thank you so much for very precise information. Keep making the videos and I will keep watching 👍
Im a 60 year old small female. I use the three speed Avet reels so if I am having a hard time with a fish the reel goes into second speed and then third when the fish circles.
sharks taking tails. Gotta pay the tax man.
You know it is a big fish when it takes 3 gaffs to pull up.
was that the 3 day trip?
Yup… this was the result of the 3 day trip
Who’s the person around 16:00 with the red Avet reeling when the fish is dumping line?
That was me. I guess I gave a couple of cranks while it was running. Wrong move I know but these things happen.
#thick
Nice catch!
Thanks for sharing this video! It's easy to see you have invested a lot of money on this trip (and most of us do). I have a job that is physically demanding and yet I know before I go on a Bluefin trip I must perform exercises that allow me to be more mobile and cardiovascularly fit. It's a safe guard against over working my heart.
I hear ya! Usually I am in better shape going into these trips but this one I stretched myself a bit too thin. The wife and I took a 4 day cruise to Mexico right before this trip and I overindulged on food and drink to say the least. All of that taxed my body and immune system so I was a bit of a wreck the first night. Won’t do that again! Luckily I rebounded the second day. Great point tho and lesson learned for sure. Thanks for the support and tight lines!
What rod/reel set up were you using at the beginning of the video?
@@jackg8478 it was actually a boat rod that I was borrowing for that one. I believe that it was a custom acid wrap rod in the 80-100lb class. It was kinda short at 6’ or so. The reel was a Maxel Rage Pro. I had never used that type of reel before so I wanted to check it out. I might have to get one. Very strong, smooth and lightweight. I also may need to get my own acid wrap too…
@@californiasaltwaterfishing9212 Did you like it better than using the "standard" type heavy jigging gear? 80-130 rod and Makaira 20 or Penn 16VISX?
@@jackg8478 there are some advantages to having the smaller setup. First the obvious that it is smaller so it’s less strain on you to drop and retrieve until you hook up. Secondly it’s easier to move quickly down the rail with it and maneuver it around other rods. Third, it does feel like a real fight versus just wenching the fish in. The only major drawback is you feel like you are missing some of that leverage/backbone like on a larger setup. I do feel like next time I will go with setups like this over the bigger bulkier ones. I just need to get in better shape lol
So many jigging setups! Hell yea
Awesome trip and video! I just wish I can train all the mako to just bite off the tail of all my cow tunas and I will be ecstatic! Hahaha😂
Ain’t that the truth! Once you take off that motor they do slow down a lot haha
Would 300lb mono leader work?
Fluro is better, purely for the abrasion resistance. I know plenty of guys that have landed big tuna with mono bite leaders but if captain Aliyar is saying use fluro take it as the gospel.
@@Nobodybaby78 they said to only use the fluorocarbon. When I talked to the deckhand about it a little more, they said that mono tends to float and when you’re trying to get a jig down deep the last thing that you want is anything that creates buoyancy.
@@zanehenson11 yea I know your right. I’ve landed most mine with those mono leaders 🤷🏻♂️
Why not wire leader at night?
I know some people do use it but I have heard that sometimes it alters the action of the jig in a negative way. Flourocarbon seems to be the perfect blend of flexibility and abrasion resistance
Best captain in the fleet. Hope to hear back from this trip
100% agree , Mark on the PV and Greg on the Aztec are up there too.
@@ahmadghanem2414 I agree. I got about an hour of footage on the trip, so I’m not sure how much will make the video but hopefully that will be done in a week or so. We had boat limits on a very good quality bluefin. Keep an eye out for that…
Thanks for the post! Very informative
you have to lay the halibut flat or else this happens.
One of these years I'm gonna take my pops out to get some bluefin. We used to albacore fish out of Avila Beach when they were closer. I miss it.
That one lonely Cuda at the end lol
Sometimes life has a bump in the road!! Oh well we are not going to cry about!! God is good all the time!!!!! Bad day at work,is a great day every day!!!😮😮😮😮
Best cap in da biz, just an animal!!!!!
Wow looks fun! I get sea sick so bad, but fun to fish still! 😂
Haha… yeah, getting sick sucks for sure. I always take Dramamine 24 hours, 12 hours and right before I get on the boat. Might be overkill but so far so good. Glad you liked it and thanks so much for the comment 😎!
What United composites bait rod are you using here?
It’s an exclusive one offered through surfaceiron.com. Very cool rod. I also use it for some light surface iron action. Model:GUSA RUS 85 S.I.C www.surfaceiron.com/shop/brand/s-i-c-exclusive-rod-series/united-composites-rus-85-s-i-c-jig-rod-exclusive/
Do you have a pic of your sinker rig?
I don't have a pic but it is known as a drop shot rig. Check out this video at about 3:40 to get more details on this set up. It's a pretty cool way to go... ruclips.net/video/5CvFDpvlfSE/видео.html
You can tell which angler has an Asian wife by looking at the fish he keeps. If they are keeping bonito for sure he has one. Welcome to the club my friend! 😂
Haha! I hear ya on that one! The wife does like me to bring home whatever keeper fish that catch. I actually do like the bonito if it is handled properly. These guys do a great job of making sure even the bonito get bled out and put in the RSW as soon as possible. We made ceviche with the bonito and it was amazing! Thanks for the comment my friend and hope you are doing great!
Great Video! I was on this trip with you last year! I’m going again on the same Seeker trip this month. Are you going as well?
Thanks so much! Unfortunately I won't be on that trip this year but hopefully you guys have a great time. Those Seeker trips are always fun especially if Fred from Seeker makes an appearance. Best of luck out there my friend!
@@californiasaltwaterfishing9212 thank you. I would be awesome if you would go so you could make another of these videos!
How much is a 2 day trip.
This trip was in 2023 and it was $550 without meals. In 2024 looks like the same trip on the Tomahawk is $650-$672. Some boats cost more than others but the Tomahawk is a pretty good deal…
