  • Kelp paddy Yellowtail, Dorado, and Bonita with a few Bluefin Tuna sprinkled in on this 2.5 day trip on the Ranger 85 out of H&M Landing. After boating over 100 miles to the north to only catch a few Bluefin the trip was saved by an action packed second day fishing the kelp paddies off of northern Baja. Fast paced, run-and-gun action was the name of the game. Pulled in nine (near limits) quality Yellowtail, plus 4 Bonita. Overall the boat got 250+ Yellowtail, a handful of Dorado, some Bonita and those lone three Bluefin. Check it out…

Dont like boats that have too many fishermen. That's not right that Ranger did that ! I'll avoid boats in the future that do that and ruin the fun of the trip.

I am in complete agreement with you. I can understand when they have a full load but when they have more than a full load of anglers it really makes it more difficult especially when there’s fish running every which direction. It’s not this boat in particular because I’ve seen other boats do that too. However there are some boats that always keep it at the maximum advertised or less which I greatly appreciate. Thank you so much for the support!

Thank you for the comment! This is a 7 foot rod rated between 25-40 lbs. it is a Seeker Black Steel Live Bait Rod - G 670-7' specifically. I’m a big fan of this rod and it has never let me down. It is definitely my go to for yellow tail, as well as yellow fin and smaller blue fin. Highly recommended!

Thanks so much! Unfortunately I won't be on that trip this year but hopefully you guys have a great time. Those Seeker trips are always fun especially if Fred from Seeker makes an appearance. Best of luck out there my friend!

Great video. The tuna that got hooked was an instant redemption for me. Got bit and pulled the hook on the first time around, got another bait immediately back in the water and it got smoked. The video is showing round 2. Great memories and great group of guys.

Yeah the JX is a workhorse for sure. It has pulled up bluefin, white seabass, yellowtail, halibut and others for me without any trouble. You are gonna love it! Lemme know how it goes. Best of luck out there! 😎

This was about $850 for the ticket which includes meals, bait and bunk. Fish cleaning was extra (around $100 for the 9 yellowtail and 4 bonito). And tip was extra ($150+). All in you are looking at a grand or so
