Agree with your final comments, I saw the thumbnail and thought yeah I'm not sure but by the end of the tour my mind was changed, very well designed and really good looking and functional. Amazing vid again team. 👏👏👏❤️🇬🇧
Im a big fan of all the Princess and Pearl Yachts (Pearl 72 is a favourite). But I must say that this has really impressed me, and this may be my new favourite. I do really like the total set up of the Sunseeker Ocean 156. The only change would be, a single crew cabin with bunk beds, and omitting the other cabin for a seating area for the crew?? Very Nice 10 out of 10
Brilliant review again... I think this boat is a bit of a game changer. You put a lot of work into this post and it paid off... well done. Very enjoyable.
Thanks Jack! Another great video. I was sold on the Princess X80 as the, perfect yacht, but the O 156 gives it a run for its money! I would love to see a comparison video with your thoughts and final selection.
Just amazed at the wealth of knowledge Jack brings to every review. I watch many yacht review channels and clearly Jack is the best! (not Jack's mom, haha).
Jack, thanks for a fine, thorough tour. I read an interesting comment from a captain on a competing UHV (Ultra High Volume} yacht from Horizon. He said his stabilizers stopped working on a passage and the boat starting rolling 20 degrees each way. It scared the you-know-what out of him. There are so many compromises made in this Sunseeker to gain a main deck ballroom and luxurious space -- the boat is plainly tubby-looking; the engine room is ridiculously cramped; and your crew will not be smiling after spending a week or so in that windowless, claustrophobic crew space. And take good care of your stabilizers!
Brilliant review Jack and team, superb! I guess it’s perfect for people looking for volume of accommodation on the water over anything else. The handling at sea did impressive though. I can’t imagine buying this style of boat, but if I was it would be this or the Princess. Tough choice.
Stunning interior , I thought the same of exterior -but for what your getting with handling and interior design and Sunseeker heritage build quality ,thats an easy comprimise.
Thank you Jack for a fine stem to stern review. Must say I am impressed that your driving impression was quite positive. As others have stated, if one likes this design it really should be for an owner/operator. Personally, I would feel guilty treating my crew to those quarters.
Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder. I’ve only had one and I think it looks pretty good. Maybe could have a profiled lead-in on the front top balcony rather than a straight handrail but otherwise looks good. In any case, people who buy these are generally on them, not sat on the quay looking at them... and it’s fabulous on board. Oh: except that wall to window behind the large telly. That would upset my eyes... needs to be one texture behind the whole telly.
Good review. It's great to see a yacht being driven in less than ideal conditions (and handling them in pretty impressive fashion) and low light. None of the new 80-90 ft high volume yachts like the Sunseeker or Ferretti are going to qualify as super model beautiful. They are pretty big girls. They do have comfort in spades though. You just need to figure out which suits you the best. I like the Ferretti the best. It's the covered front deck that I like. But they are all good in their own way.
This sacrifies sleek outside design - as the X80 does - for some bulky and non aestethic design outside for stunning inside space and feeling. Thanks for this cinematic review as from the very beginning of your channel. No wonder you hit 523k subs already
Jack, I watch a rather obscene number of motor yacht / superyacht walkthroughs. Some are significantly better than others for sure. I love them all. I love everything about the idea of these boats; truly demonstrates just how incredible man's imagination is. Regarding presentations, yours are far and away the very best. At this point, I watch such videos not simply for the boats, but also for how they present them. Your videos are so incredibly well thought out and executed, I just don't think many of your viewers really appreciate what you and your team have done...each and every time. It's so clear that you guys love what you do and you do your homework so well with each boat that one would think you built it yourself or at least designed it. When I walk other channels, I often critique their videography and their choices for everything. Then there are the brokers. I've never seen a broker's video that does a boat justice. It's a crime, really. However, when I watch yours I can never - as much as I try - find anything I would change in how you do it. Well, there might be one thing I'd change. :) Just for a gag, you and your team should do a parody of a James Bond intro that culminates with a typical, "Your mission, double oh Haines, is to create the very best walkthrough of the Sunseeker one five two." Yada yada, you get the idea. I say that with all due respect. Sometimes I think all you UK boys grow up, serve in the royal navy and go on to do something magnificent in the yachting world. Anyway, cheers to you and your team. Just wonderful work. And while I may be a long time off from ever setting foot on such an engineering treasure, I am thankful for channels like yours that let me imagine setting foot on the teak and slipping out on to the bow while underway to feel the salty spray just around twilight.
Thank you for taking the time to write that comment, it’s so pleasing to see the hard work we put into creating these videos being recognised. This was a particularly challenging shoot thanks to the weather and time constraints and the team did an amazing job putting it together so quickly (we only tested the boat last Monday). So thank you, sincerely, for the comment - Jack
Fantastic yacht and review. The "crew space" needs revisiting as it's clearly not enough for more than an intermittent weekend overnighter crew. This boat would require shore-based housekeeping, exterior cleaning, and contract cook and captain staff for away visits. That's a lot of coordination, perhaps cheaper to operate and affords "total privacy" - but intermittently only. Beautiful, Yes, Practical? Not sure. This open main deck was the problem that Bernetti solved with another deck on their B'yond Explorer.
Not the best looking MY Sunseeker have ever made, the external looks will certainly divide opinion. The internal style and functionality are excellent though. However when going up against a Princess in the same class it's an easy choice, X80. Great video Jack, seeing the boat in action and conducing a tour whilst under way is a welcome change from tours at a show, would love to see move like this. Have you ever thought about doing a video with a complete novice to demonstrate how easy, (or hard!) it is for someone who's a beginner to operate a MY? Just putting myself out there as a willing volunteer 😀Simon
Great review. YB has achieved excellence in hosting, cinematography, editing and now has the companion website. That could use some improvements in usability but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time. I for one don’t mind the styling. It looks a bit busy and the lines don’t flow as well as the Princess X80 but it’s started to grow on me pretty fast. As a matter of fact, I’m wondering how small a boat of this type could be made. Could something like this be shrunk to a 65 foot boat and not look like it was made by Frankenstein Boat Works? I’m no yacht designer but I’d like to see the concepts. The only. Reason I wouldn’t plunk money down on something like this is that I absolutely love to pilot boats and I don’t want crew around to invade my family time. After Cannes and Monaco just wrapped, I’m hoping to see a whole slew of new reviews!
She is an interesting and versatile boat you can plan her as you need. Master at the top - hum maybe for a charter boat yea. Downstairs as she is it's good if you need only 4 cabins then it's absolutely fine. She is a charter or a family boat Sunseeker has done a good job, hull shape, engines, mini crew area ( not so good) but it's got the basics. You pay your money, pick your options Or what you pay is what you get. The examples of this boat versus Princess X80 or Ferretti 80 that's a hard choice to make.
Good review, but Sunseeker seem to be going all out to surpass the boundaries of tasteful styling. This looks like a five year-old's rendering of a boat. Draw a basic outline then randomly add bits on.
This is a very practical boat focused on living space at its best for the size. The exterior look doesn’t bother me. Not being able to see the nose from the wheel does matter to me. Very nice toy and of course great performance from Sunseeker.
well presented, jack. interesting departure from normal design. IMO the have a lot of convincing to do on the door on the bow to the dining area when she starts taking green water. i know its not intended for those kinds of conditions but things happen and biscay always surprises. this seems like a literal attempt at a floating condo rather than a boat. im sure thye will sell. this is that the wife wants these days.
Pearl 82 anyone ? Same length . Less volume but still large for its size and 10 X better looking . When you are on a yacht how much time do you spend inside anyway ? I don't get the Princess X range ether for the same reason as this yacht .
the shape of the bridge windscreen is similar to the Pershing gtx116 . its like a portuguese bridge without the "wall with gate "in front. Is this a new trend?
dude ! price of this boat minus options you mentioned leaves still a gap of 777k between price of this boat and base price you mentioned. care to clarify where this gulp of money is spent on the boat?! thanks.
Jack, please don't tease. You stood in the galley and clearly suggested, "IF you're running the boat with crew... ." Were of the mind when you spoke this that the Ocean 156 can be bought as an Owner/Operator purchase? If so, what are the stipulations? ... . ___________________________
Sunseeker has already sold one to an owner/operator. They may have a deck hand/stew but they will skipper. Perfectly viable for an experienced owner - Jack

Don't know about the looks. You have to consider how it would look at night gliding out of the harbor at Ibiza all lite up with dance music blaring as it does an evening party charter. If you check out some of the RUclips channels for boating for the Miami River you see 3 or 4 of this style of Yacht being used for charter, sometimes by the day or even hour, so you can see them at work in their natural environment. (What would David Attenborough say about them?) The business case for these is obvious in those videos. The Princess X80 is just as "ugly" as this and sells well. Nick's review of the X80 pointed out that the crew area on that yacht was configurable - is the crew area on this yacht configurable also?. A Nordhavn or a Kady-Krogan is not pretty compared to a classic SunSeeker but they sell. As for picking between your 3 choices I don't really see a great difference to drive a choice. The Sparkman-Stephens Ketch Salamandar that you sailed past is way prettier that any of these boats. I probably would NOT take one of these as a private yacht - the crew area is to small. I would take a set of smaller engines and a smaller engine room to improve crew accommodations. The crew is far more important to a happy private yacht than another 5 - 10 knots you would never use.
Considering it’s boxy type nature I was pretty impressed with the boat until you got to the crew space which they have tried their hardest to make the worst space possible for their comfort. Why anyone would crew on this boat is beyond me.
I don't mind her looks, and the space gained for an open family style main deck is great. However, how many boats this size are owner operated? And there's no place for the crew to eat, or even sit. Sacrificing a guest cabin to gain decent crew area would be the way to go imho.
120k for a sun bed/seating unit, wow what value, once again a manufacturer knowing their clientele, and of course seeing them coming from a mile away, good for them for getting away with it i say, a mug and his money are soon parted is an old saying, never more apt than with the price of extras on these already ridiculously expensive boats.
