  • Great trip aboard the Tomahawk out of Fisherman's Landing in San Diego, CA. This was a two day trip where I managed to get my limits, including one of my best tuna that weighed in at a dressed weight of over 80 pounds. Great boat and great crew and a fun bunch of folks on board, so it was as good as it could get. Hope you like the footage and I highly recommend checking out the Tomahawk when you get a chance.

    What’s that connection I see from the main line. I see a steel ring and a chain knot. Do you have a chain know connected to the jig too?

      I actually ordered a premade leader from SufaceIron.com. It's a pretty cool setup. I ordered the SIC Heavy Duty Jig Rig 13/0 - 300 lb Jinkai Fluorocarbon. I tied a double San Diego knot to the steel ring on the leader. I went straight braid to the leader. You can check it out here: www.surfaceiron.com/shop/brand/swivel/vertical-jigging/sic-heavy-duty-jig-rig-13-0/

    Do you think there’s tuna in Huntington Beach ?

    • @californiasaltwaterfishing9212
      @californiasaltwaterfishing9212  6 месяцев назад

      Tuna are a migratory fish so they could be in one spot one day and gone the next. They went all the way up to Northern California last year so who knows what they will do this year. Typically they are not too close to shore so if you are looking for them I would recommend offshore a bit once the water warms up a little

    If it was gill/gutted should of been right around 89 lbs. They say add 10%. Nice fish! Congrats!

    Boy oh boy! That was intense! Nice to see you guys landed them fish. Line tangles are the worst nightmare for me especially when I’m on the fish. New sub to your channel, keep posting 👍

    • @californiasaltwaterfishing9212
      @californiasaltwaterfishing9212  Год назад +1

      Yup, it was a pretty crazy time out there for sure and we were very lucky to land the fish that we did given all the tangles and such. I agree regarding the nightmare of tangles- nothing gets me more anxious during a battle than a tangle. That’s just when you have to let the crew do their work and keep breathing haha.

      I don't have a pic but it is known as a drop shot rig. Check out this video at about 3:40 to get more details on this set up. It's a pretty cool way to go... ruclips.net/video/5CvFDpvlfSE/видео.html

    How much is a 2 day trip.

    • @californiasaltwaterfishing9212

      This trip was in 2023 and it was $550 without meals. In 2024 looks like the same trip on the Tomahawk is $650-$672. Some boats cost more than others but the Tomahawk is a pretty good deal…

    Nice to hear a recent report on the Tomahawk with good review! Never been on it. Have a 3 day coming up September 12. Usually on the NLA, Sea Ad 80, Constitution, Excaliber. Killed a 90lb BFT and my Avet EX30 in about 7 minutes a couple weeks ago. Still hunting my cow, largest BFT is only 187. Great video and tight lines! 👍by the way how was the food😮😂😂

      Nice! Sounds like you have been on some great boats! I think you will love the Tomahawk. They really know how to take care of folks. The food was great so you are definitely in for a treat. They do bring some of the perks of bigger long range boats on a smaller vessel (except the state rooms of course). Definitely let me know how the trip goes in September. Good luck with getting that cow! Keep those lines tight my friend and I appreciate the support! 😎

      Sorry but I don’t remember the name of the the cook. One of the deckhands was Will, one was Colin and I believe the other one was Nick. Maybe he used to be the cook on the boat?

      @californiasaltwaterfishing9212  Год назад +1

      Yeah, fewer people would always be nice but even with just a dozen guys we may have been getting tangled and such. As long as the whole boat works together we can all catch fish. Thanks for the comment and supporting the channel! 😎

    The tomahawk has always been good at getting on fish, my only gripe with the boat is how high it is. It catches a lot of wind and rocks like crazy if the weather is not perfect. Nice fishing btw.
