One of the things we love about New York City is the diversity of architecture. It's a mishmash of styles that tells the story of New York over the past 400 years. Cast-iron architecture was very innovative in the late 1800s and was an inexpensive way to mimic the detailing of stone carved façades. Join us on a quick tour through the streets of Manhattan to see our six favorite cast-iron buildi...

Certainly one of the most picturesque areas in the city Greenwich Village is a charming maze of narrow, tree-lined streets with a very human scale to it, lacking the skyscrapers of Midtown and Lower Manhattan. The Village, as it is affectionately referred to, started off as a sleepy farm-oriented suburb to the north (or uptown) of the urban, clamorous mass of Manhattan - which in the 1700s cent...

I lived in the village and use to see "The Chin" around. One day I asked him if he needed help and he told me to "F*ck Off". He changed from appearing to be suffering from dementia to completely lucid. This was outside the Donut shop at the West side Exit/Entrance to the W4th St. Subway. I didn't know who he was until I saw him in the Newspaper following his arrest.

I;ve been trying now for YEARS to find video or photos of Hell's Kitchen in the 1970;s. It doesn;t seem to exist. There's a few reasons for that I won;t get into but Hell's Kitchen today is another overly expensive hipster million dollar apt mess. 90% of the tenements and slums are gone. It was dangerous on the streets and worse in the apartments. There';s still a couple blocks with 'original decor" as they call it in real estate lol. Mainly when you come out of the Lincoln tunnel you will see original buildings over 100 years old. Everything else is either demolished or 'revitalized" (another bogus real estate word for just painting an old place.
