  • Owney Madden ran one of the hottest speakeasies in the roaring 20s in NYC, Club Intime which was located here at 205 West 54th Street.
Today it’s the popular lounge, Flute. Club Intime was a partnership born out of the union of Madden and the fast talking queen of New York nightlife, Texas Guinan (pronouced GUY-nin), who was famous for her one-liner “Hello suckers!” which she used to welcome her customers. This is a great spot to end a Manhattan night-on-the-town, especially after you now know its fascinating and turbulent history and all the craziness that’s happened here.
We do luxury private tours of New York City. Our most popular? The "New York Mafia Tour". Learn more about it here:

Maybe I’m wrong but doesn’t this sound like the characters in “the roaring twenties”. Panama smith owned the speakeasy during prohibition.

The only difference I can see between the Mafia and the government , is the Mafia tend to more honest. You know where you stand if you cross them.
