Would you recommend applying 303 on new figures?
My friend, do you have a link to buy the "Clear Heat Shrink Tubbing"? I can't find where to buy it online. Thank you!
Very cool video, cool like coolest parts of the lava
So what made your double down on vagina?
I had a older sideshow 1/4 scale piece that had alot of flaking and cracking. I wound up throwing him out.
Which product would you recommend for Darth Vader hot toy? I just got the Kenobi version and I want to make sure it last!
I have two of them, and they are huge! You have taken the Snow Speeder to the next level! Great job!
This is probably the most helpful collection maitenance video I've ever seen. I very rarely do the whole "up vote"/favourite thing, but this video gets both. I don't recall you saying, did you mention how often you have to do a coating of protectorants for figures? Is it like once a year? Once a month? Thank you!
This is awesome. ❤ Have you considered doing this for commission for others? I’d love this done to mine but don’t have the time or skills.
Amazing
Thank you!! :)
What should i use for darth vader
I used Mod Podge matt on my HT ESB Vader suit. Thanks for watching!
Just wanted to say thank you, brother! There's some figures that I was scared to purchase due to their materials. This video is by far the best information for 1/6 scale figures.
You're very welcome, and thank you for the kind words! Happy collecting!
I’m doing a 16 scale stand topper with snow, liked one in your video. Having fun with it so far! What is the advantage of clearcoating it before the snow is applied??
Glad you're trying it! I'm sure it will turn out great. I find its always important to clear coat and seal the ground before applying the snow. If you don't, the snow ingredients my reactivate the dried pigments in the ground. (That will then stain your white snow.) Thnaks for watching!
Please make more videos!!!!
Have you done Luke's green saber? Is there a particular paint hue you would recommend?
I have not done Luke's Saber, but I did Qui Gon's. I would recommend TAMIYA TAM81025 Acrylic X-25, which is a clear green gloss. Thanks for watching and for the question!
This looks amazing! I'm definitely going to do this for my figures. I have a 3D printer so I can create any environment I want too.
That's awesome! Good luck and have fun with the process. Thanks for watching!
OMG, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have pleather clothing that is deteriorating on some of my BE Goth dolls!
You're very welcome and Thanks for watching! Hopefully, this helps.
Best diorama videos around!!! I love your videos!!!!!!
Thanks so much, James!
This is awesome! Wondering if you design the STL or if you purchased it online? Just wondering if you have a link as I would like to give it a try
My apologies on this one. I d/l it online but I do not recall where. I remember it was free, but I had to re-scale it to 1/6 scale (from 1/4), and went through a few prints before the size was right. Thanks for watching though! I recommend looking through CG trader.
I'm building a really big base for mine it's going to be a 3 story building that collapse down for transporting it. From roof down the floor
Thats awesome! Hope its going well. And thanks for watching!
Great job what Brand of paint and Brushes you use
Thanks so much! All paint brands and colors are listed in the video subtitles. Mostly Vallejo and FW inks. (But feel free to ask if I forgot to list any.) The thin brush for details is a Winsor & Newton Series 7 (size 0 or size 1. The larger brushes are cheap brushes from the local hardware store.
I have the legacy black panther his suit is all rubber it does stick to itself in the armpit how would I keep this preserved I live in south Louisiana if you could tell me some info on how to preserve this figure
No one covers the rubber figures I've tried to find a video....I don't have a detolf...I've decide to just box them back up until I get a detolf
Thanks for watching! I dont have that figure. If it is like the HT Spidey suits, it may be difficult to prevent the 'sticking'. Also, having a dislay cabinet is important, but it won't solve any humidity issues. Also, Detolfs are not sealed so your figures will get dusty. (I sealed my detolfs with strips of weathering pile. That really helps with the dust.)
Thank you for the info that really helps
I got mine ordered I can't wait to do this to mine
Hope you had fun with it! Thanks for watching!
Can you use the Angelus product on all pleather vs 303?
Sure. I dont see why not. Thanks for watching!
Do i need to apply this every month or every 3 months? Can everybody tell me pls i just bought hot toys the batman and dx19 dark knight
It depends on the environment in your display area. If you have a good HVAC system and/or the humidity in your area remains consistent and under 60%, I would say to reapply every 3- 6 months. Conversley, if your display area had no humidity control and humidity is constantly spiking (i.e., Tropic climates with no HVAC) then apply 1 to twice a month. (But in this latter scenario, the 303 will only help so much before the pleathe rbegins to detriorate. The firts goal is to first manage the humidity.)
what about using leather honey or TriNova Leather Conditioner and Restorer with Water Repellent Formula insteed of using 303? Im talking spefcific of Sideshow Premium Format all T800's (Terminator police shootout, T2 clean and batle damaged all pleather material)
Thanks for watching and good question. The issue with Leather Honey is that its only for Leather. Not for Faux leather or pleather. (According to the product info on their site.) I dont knwo much about TriNova, but i think its the same with that product. Personally I would stick with 303 or a coat of mod podge.
Is the Angelus applied to boots flexible enough that it would not crack if you bend at ankle? I guess in a larger sense, if you were to eventually sell the item, would there be any posing restrictions because of finish cracking?
Thnaks for watching! No, it shoudl not restrict movement or crack. (It's never happended to any of the boots I've applied it to.)
Amazing tutorial, just what I needed! Love your work. Was wondering what would you recommend for Hot Toys Alien figures where the rubber body lost the original shine/gloss. Would that also be the 303 spray? Heard many people were using mod podge/gloss clear coat, but to my understanding that would significantly limit the articulation and make the figure static. Thanks in advance and keep up with the videos - brilliant content!
Thnaks for the kind words and for watching! This is a great question. (I may need to try something on my HT Dog Alien.) Mod Podge glass isnt a terrible idea. It shouldn't make too static, but it may not be as flexible as before. Another option is Angelus Gloss Coat. Because Angelus is designed for textiles, it should retain flexibility.
Great tutorial. I had no idea I needed to do this until about a year ago when I started seeing Hot Toys figures with cracked, flaking accessories posted in various places. I've been extremely lucky with my figures, but I'm going to perform the 303 maintenance ASAP! I purchased a sealed Star Lord recently. I know that the Hot Toys pleather coats are notorious for breaking down badly. I'm almost afraid to open it up. 😬
Hey Thanks for watching and for your comment! Good luck and hopefully you don't see any issues. Starting with the 303 should help! And yes, unboxing an older figure is always nerve-wrecking. Even if the original owner had it displayed in a climate controlled area and took great care, who knows how long it was boxed up before getting to you and what the environment conditions were during shipping. (The older the Pleather, the more sucseptible it is to drastic climate changes.) Still, if the pleater on your particular figure was sealed, this should provide significant protection.
Does this work on white pleather or will it cause paleness/darkness on that ?
Thanks for watching and for your question! Yes, it should work. However, my suggestion is to apply a very small amount of 303 to a non-visible area first. Let it sit for a month or so, then inspect it to ensure it has not caused any strange stains. It shouldn't.... but this is what I would do to be safe.
My Mezco Green Arrow is already cracked. Now I'm gonna spray all my leather toys tomorrow, I'm not taking chances
Thnaks for watching, and sorry to hear about the Mezco! If its pleather, and its cracked but not yet peeling, I would use Mod Podge. Thta should create a seal that prevents further detrioration. For the other pleather components that are still in good shape, start applying 303 with a microfiber towel every 3 - 6 months.
will this work for gametoys sephiroth?
Hey thanks for watching! I do not own that figure, but if the components are pleather (i.e., look and feel like pleather) I would use the methods and products described in this video.
Will this work on mezco figures? I just got the crow and is it best to apply it as soon as i get the figure?
I don't own any of the Mezcos, but these emthods will work on most pleather components. Thanks for watching!
Superb & Informative content. Since I could not see products clearly, could you pls tell me which 303 and other stufffs you use for maintenance. Many thx
Thanks for watching! The links for all products are in the video description. Let me know if they dont work for you.
So simple that no one thought of it... Great and very useful! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Getting the 89 Batman 2.0, this will be a very helpful video
Thanks for watching! The 2.0 should be an awesome figure.
Does Mod Podge help with preventing tearing/splitting of a suit, specifically on JL Batman?
Yes, it should help. It adds a top coat sealer to an existing pleather component. However, I do not have the JL Batman so can't comment directly on that particular figure. From what I have seen though, Mod Pdge may be a good idea. Thanks for the question!
Thanks for the great and educational video! How often do you think the figure would need this treatment? Once a year, more or less?
You're very welcome! It typically depends on your environment. Personlly I reapply every 6 months or so. (My display room is in a climate-controlled environment.) However, if your pieces are displayed in a non-controlled environment subject to drastic swings in temp and humidity, you may want to apply more often.
@@metamorphiccustoms Good to know! Thanks for the reply and additional advice! I just got a GameToys Cloud, so I want to make sure I make the body last as long as possible.
Hey OP, would baby oil work on pleather?
I have never used baby oil, but I hear its a good alternative. I just can't confirm from personal experience. Thanks for the question!
Keep up this incredible and generous gift you are giving us Dezi. I thank you Sir, all the way from England 🏴
My pleasure! And thank you for watching!
On red skull, why wouldn't you use angelus after the mod podge, instead of the 303?
Good question. The Mod Podge already serves as the permanent coating. Adding Angelus after that would be fine, but redundant. The 303 is a non-permanent coating that adds a level of moisture to the product keeing it hydrated, but it isnt absoutely required either. Just using the Mod Podge by itself should be enough. Thanks for watching!
Kind I use the 303 on the val kilmer batman bc im kinda iffy on it bc the different type of rubber/latex
No, I wouldn't. I have the HT Kilmer and have not applied 303, or anythiing else for that matter. It has a particular sheen that may be affected by the 303. Thanks for the question!
Does the Wire need to be 30 gauge?
Not really. Its just the guage I find works well with the scale. (i.e., fitting into the hilt.) You may have some difficulty fitting a thicker wire into a standard 1:6 scale hilt. Thanks for watching!
Hey nice video! Two questions for you... What is the mog podge + tilegrout ratio of mix? How much mod podge did you end up using?
Nvm you said in the video! 1:1
Yup 1:1. Thanks for watching!
5:44 finally someone using electric soldering iron hhhh, cheap and effective
Indeed! Just remember to use a mask. Thanks for watching!
Hi, Do you use it on the whole body or just the visible parts? Thank you!
Just the parts which are visible or easy to get to. Thanks for watching and for your question!
Anakin learned that the hard way
Indeed he did! Thanks for watching!
I am thinking of getting some hot toys spider man characters, venom, green goblin spidey etc. What would you recommend doing to protect them? And is it smart to just do these measures right when you get the figure.
The 303 and Mod Podge are really for pleather or thin vinyl components. I have a couple of HT Spideys. My guess is 303 and mod podge should not be applied to these suits. They appear to be a fabric or a rubber mix, which do not require 303. (In a worse case scenario, 303 could even damage/ stain fabrics. ) I have heard alot of complaints of the HT Spidey suits creasing after being posed. But I have never heard of them cracking or peeling. This leads me to believe the material does not require 303. Thanks for watching!
@@metamorphiccustoms awesome. I was just curious. I assume this is also the same for whatever material venom is made out of? The main issue would just be creasing and sticking if it's kept in some sort of dynamic pose for a long period of time?
@@JohnSmith-mt8tqThat’s correct. I know several people actually use the Shin Etsu grease for Venom. (It’s the other product I covered in another video for maintaining HT’s with soft TPU bodies.) ruclips.net/video/XoosKovj_v8/видео.htmlsi=ZGjR_JkoLYmiuG-J
What if we applied 303 to materials that are pleather? Would they get ruined?
Do you mean to ask 'what if you apply 303 to non-pleather materials'? If so, please be aware that 303 may stain different fabrics or non-pleather materials. This is not always the case, but don't risk it. If you were asking if its ok to apply 303 to pleather, then yes, I always recommend applying it to HT's pleather components. Thanks for watching and for your question!
Outstanding!!! It's almost like Jazz Inc got you in the front door and you had to do the rest.
Thanks for the kind words! :) This was a fun project!
