Hello, can you unsolder the resistor, which is an 8 ohm, 4 ohm load and see if it shows 1 amp load with the unsoldered resistor? Several people say that the screen shows unrealistic false readings with an unsoldered resistor or a replaced one

thia device allows up to 100A current only. If I connect a 300A shunt, will i be able to measure currents higher than 100A? I want to use this to measure capacity of 240Ah 3.2V lifepo4 battery. It might have 240Ampere current if charged at 1C

The 300Amp shunts sold on ebay with this meter tend to be inaccurate and under read the current by about 2% on the low end of the range. The results vary a lot for meter to meter, there is no internal calibration pot either. Voltage also under reads slightly. The meters measure current in both directions, and the SOC is based on voltages which is near useless. For accurate use, you will need to make up a circuit with 2 meters on one shunt, and switch between charge and discharge current flow direction, and keep track of power in and out as well as voltages. note battery voltage varies with load

I found the meters tend to under read the current slightly. Also as soon as you connect the meter to an inverter the noise from the inverter on the positive supply disrupts the meter, causing it to under read the current considerably. If the meter is put inside equipment case near a dc-dc converter the rf noise can disrupt the meter causing wrong low current readings. The only fix is to install a small 47uh inductor in series with the +ve supply to the meter.

Yes this is what I have found , they are rubbish, even if you use them for 50 amps, and you only had 50 amp wire, problem is they will pass 250 amps, over heating your 50 amp wire and possibly causing a fire, just don’t use them, buy a disconnect switch and use a proper fuse. I brought 100 amp switches from Jaycar electronics, same Chinese rubbish, 50 amps only. Then I brought 150 amp units, again only 50 amps. When I dismantled, the 50, 100 and 150, they are all identical mechanically, They just label different amps on them. Chinese Scam product

Shame the lower voltages were only tested at very high amp. Would have been informative to see 5a, 10a & 15a at 12v. Thanks for the video, it was very good documented.

Hi, your review is not fair because there is probably something wrong with your powering setup. Do not use the barrel connector (not intended to carry reliably 10A) or crocodile clips. At least you should use the screw terminals with low resistivity wiring. I have three of these testers, I glued and soldered XT30 connectors directly under the board, and with a 10A PSU for each device, they can charge at 1A on the 8 slots simultaneaously. They are pretty accurate in capacity and internal resistance measurement for their price, compared to a high end tester like SKYrc MC3000. And more accurate than OPUS BTC3100. Last advice, add a polycarbonate piece on top of the the screen to protect it, otherwise if you let a cell fall on the original screen, it may be easily damaged or destroyed.

Hi, To the external blue terminals you can connect different holders that contain, per example, 21700 cells. You can obviously test from only one holder at a time, 18650 OR 21700 … 👍

The tech notes does show a dual power supply circuit how ever the module does not properly implement it While I didn't both trace the circuit I can see the three inductors are suppose to be on a transformer core. Wish I saw this before buying two

This type of board can produce an equivalent negative voltage provided sufficent current is flowing between the ground and the negative terminal - otherwise a high voltage builds up in the negative-side capacitor. I have the same board and mine works fine when used correctly but shows large voltages when idling.

I have to replace a battery, which contains a little board with two chips on it. One is the DW01A, which brought me here, which was good because I couldn't find a datasheet for it. The other chip is the SM8205, and I can't find any information on that either. I can find suppliers and even pictures of the chip - but no datasheet. I don't suppose you have any info on that one? It has 8 legs, but legs 6 & 7 are bridged with solder. This was a very informative video, by the way - but unfortunately, it doesn't cover the chips on my battery. Maybe my 8205 does the same job as your 4056 - or maybe not. Incidentally, there are two straps from my battery to a little circuit board containing these chips, then there are three wires from the board to the minicomputer board that it powers - red, black, white. I don't know if the white one is for charge monitoring, or for temperature.

Suppose we have a battery pack of 24V with BMS, so if we used a charger that has twice the voltage 48V, then the BMS will protect the batteries and no damage will happen according to your explanation, but the question is that: will the BMS allow the 24V battery to charge safely using the 48V charger or will the BMS get damaged?
