Just stumbled across your channel... wish I had seen it years ago. Your thoroughness is brilliant and appreciated. You answer most questions we all have about these low cost utility boards !
Hi Watthour, Thank you for your great educative channels. I watch your videos regularly. I have some questions about this battery capacity meter which I also have and it works well. I noticed that it uses two nRF24L01 transceivers, one which is on the metering unit and the second one is in the wireless display unit. Q1: Is there a “way” to integrate an Arduino UNO to read or source the data the metering unit is sending to the display ? Q2: In case that possibly the Arduino may be unable to “TALK” to the micro controller inside the battery capacity metering unit, Can then one use the nRF24L01 module inside the display unit by remove it temporarily, maybe connect it to the Arduino Uno, and then use that trans located nRF24L01 , to receive the data being transmitted by the metering unit, hopefully assuming that Arduino will see the incoming data ? Why am I curious, you might ask: The battery capacity meter cannot control a relay based on measured SOC % of the battery. I would want to experiment with finding a way to read the % SOC value and use it to control an external relay to do things like load shedding. That’s where the curiosity is coming from. if the data from the capacity meter could be read by Arduino, I could then put a code line in the Arduino that check the value of %SoC, and then uses an “IF” this then do an activity to control a relay. Thank you in advance.
Wow this a good video very informative after watching this I bought one in our local online store.. and installed it to my EV.. It works very well.. but I have one question and need help to do..how it turn on continuesly because the monitor turn off after few mins.. Thank you for your feed back.
Hi, this video was so helpful! I have a parasitic drain in my car. Despite having a 10A mppt controller and 12w solar panel on the car the .250 - .300 Amp drain at night brings my battery close to under-voltage. If someone wanted to monitor the over all battery status and charge vs discharge for a car battery which model would they get? My car battery is 500 cold cranking amps but the drain I’m wanting to monitor is in the mA range? Wondering if I should get a 50A could it be short circuited if I cranked the engine?
Oh also can this meter connect to the a smart phone / iphone too? Can a split halls (one that can open ) sensor be used ? I’ve been wondering about compatibility, in general, between column meters and openable hall sensors (I see they are sold individually on Aliexpress).
my display have fake read voltage..... for exsample my really voltage is 12v.... the display have over 2v over... 14v! how i can adjust the voltage on display?
bonjour j'ai le modèle sans sonde thermique, mais je ne comprends pas le branchement, il ce met en marche indique la tension de la batterie mais lorsque que démarre un moteur aucune indication de consommation 🤔
Your video on this product is great ! I guess this meter could not detect automatically the capacity of battery, so it calculates based on the full battery capacity (AH) and the current state of charge (%). To get a very close measurement, I think it is to set the state of charge to 100 % when I know the battery is fully charged or set it to 0% when I know the battery is fully discharged. If the state of charge is anything between 100 and 0%, it is no way to get it right unless the BMS app tell me the value. Could you please share with me your way if this is not the way you set up ?
That is exactly what it is. Capacity of the battery is very hard topic. You have to know the initial value and after than every charge and discharge the device is tracking it.
@@WattHour Thank you so much ! I watched your other video of DC DC converter. That is also a good one ! it inspired me to parallel 2 or more of them to boost up the output current. You did a great job !

Hi. Is there an engineering menu in this device where you can adjust (correct) the battery voltage values if there is a discrepancy with the battery and meter?
Hi. What your question is referring to is; Calibration. To calibrate the device voltage and current, you move cursor to NCP. Next, press and hold middle button for 1 sec. This will allow you to enter the voltage and current “fine-tunning” or calibration settings. How you can click middle button to select the item to calibrate, then use the upper and lower buttons to adjust as needed. When done, press (click) middle button to quit the calibration section. Hope that helps.
Informative video. I see the device has Bluetooth. Is there a way to access the information from Bluetooth (or WiFi/RS485/RS232) so I can save to a database for analysis?
Hi, I have a similar one but doesn't show the KWH . I followed everything you did to setup. It's used for 12.8v lipo4 battery between battery and invertor. What can I do to show the kwh? Thank you!
Hi. Initially, when you connect a battery to the device, and say you start by discharging, the KWH reading will remain 0.000 since the device hasn’t YET counted the energy into the battery. Once now you start putting energy into battery by charging , the KWH will start counting upwards the energy you are putting into battery, up to the point you stop charging and the final KWH reading will be the energy you will have put into the battery during that charge run. Now if you now start discharging that battery, the KWH reading will now start counting down (reducing) as you discharge the battery.
Hello, you made me watch the video, I found that I have shown calling the current. Please watch. I have not said anything extra. It is all useful information.

how can we create mobile phone battery charge cut off using relay? For example, Phone charger is plugged in via relay, when phone battery is 100% fully charged, the relay should be turned off to protect overcharging.
@@WattHour Thanks for the reply bbut this isnt what i asked, this one is simply power off protection module But what i want is something different. I have read your first comment that after battery is fully charged the power should be turned off but you want to use relay. You also mention to have over charging and phone charges already has it. If you want something different like check battery under charge and disconnect the power, then we don’t need to mention phone charge I believe as it adds confusion. yours can measure 0.01A ? The one i bought van only measure minimum to 1A . and i can't find youre product with the low 0.01A option. Anyone can give me a link ?

Warning, the is a complelty buggy product. I tested 3 different units. Do not buy the prodcut. Problems: The manual is wrong. 1. The red wire and not the black wire goes through the hall sensor. The volt measuring wire is on the same bus bar and thus there will be a flow of current through the black wire which leads to an offset of Amp mearuring. 2. NCP and OCP are in the manual wrongly named. The NCP parameter is OCP and vice versa. 3. A lot of language errors. 4. Two units lead to a situation where the output relay could not be changed anymore after paramters were changed, only a reset helped. 5. Two units did not allowed a change of the different modes. 6. One unit started smoking after some time. Really do not buy this product if you dont want ending up having a lot of problems. Start a refund processs and send it back.
With a bit of studying how the thing works, you can make use of it and it will work. And it works. I have two and they work. With a digital multimeter, you can identify any and correct the polarity of the plugin cables that come wot device, in case they happen to be opposite. Otherwise the device is an accurate coulomb counter (capacity measurement) and it works. You just need to know how to use it as so. Remember it was meant for currents of 1A and above and thus batteries used in renewable energy an be tested with charge and discharge currents of 1A and above as long as you have the correct gauge of cables to hand the current.

If you can get the positive or negative wire only one of them pass through this yes it will show the current
Note that very low currents will not be displayed by device. I think the current needs to be above 0.5A if I’m not wrong....(correct me please )
