    Two quick questions...
    1) what does the reading 'mah capacity ' (top right) refer to? What is this measurement?
    2) I'm getting 0 reading for internal battery resistance. Any idea why? Is this an issue?
    Thanks again for helping so many with your time and expertise. 🙏

    • @WattHour
      @WattHour  Год назад +1

      Hi, the Ah or mAh is the capacity of that is charged or consumed. Battery capacity is measured with Ah or mAh (milliampere Hour).
      2-The ideal internal battery resistance is 0ohm and unlimited current output. but all batteries have internal resistance and this device is calculating approximate value for you at the that particular instance. so do not trust it as battery paraments are changing and you need for complex method to calculate it.

    This unit counts both ways up,it counts battery charge and discharge as the SAME; in other words, it ADDS the Charge Amp-Hours and the Discharge Amp-Hours, and you really don't know what went on;
    Is there a way to block one of the ways, for example if the sun( with solar charging of batteries) comes and goes, due to the clouds,and the batteries charge and discharge, is there a way for it to count ONLY the Charging Amp-Hours?

  • @dinosaurux

    Great video. It explained a lot to me. I still have a question: what is the point of setting cut off voltage? I expect it should be the voltage when discharging should stop automatically, but looking at wiring I do not see any possibility how it might happen for pzem 15. It looks like load and battery are always connected through shunt and the pzem can't stop further discharging. Any explanation?

      From my observation. the energy calculation in WH needs to be seperated for current flowing IN and current flowing OUT. The amount of energy is one way up. The energy (WH) increases, even when the current is flowing in or out of the battery.

    Can I extend the small wires or do they need to be kept at this length for accurate measurements thanks

    • @WattHour
      @WattHour  Год назад

      Hi, yes I believe you can extend it as this meter does not need current to read. It just need voltage and when there is no current going through the wire , there won’t be any voltage drop and it should not affect reading. Just get for example 10meter wire and measure something and change the wire with 50cm and compare readings.

    Hi there Great video. There is just something i want to know further. I am interested in the capacity meter part of the meter. I see that it counts up from 0. so in theory if i have a 100ah battery and that counts up to 10a, then there is 90% of the battery right?
    So...that is great, but does this automatically reset when the battery starts to charge by my inverter (connected to load) our would it count backwards because the current is flowing the opposite way? - if that is even a thing? Would I always need to reset this value as you have shown?
    I just like to know the capacity left of my battery each time i use it.

It turns out it counts energy in both directions and does not differentiate. So actually the charge controller of my wind turbine draws about 16watts and the wind turbine barely runs. Now it shows 20kwh but I can't tell whether it is consumed or produced energy. Is there any way to solve this problem (except using a different device)?

    • @gamingSlasher

      @@gamingSlasher Yes,it is true,i have it for 2 weeks now, 24h over 24h,and it counts the same in *BOTH* directions! meaning it ADDS the + and the - and counts all as one; so,i do not know how much charge went in... or out;
      ....a bit stupid if you ask me,and I am thinking of putting a DIODE in the sense line,but then the shunt mV ,which are the AMPS, will be all wrong, and almost useless; still, a very good tool...

    • @sadfur8728
      @sadfur8728 Год назад

      You could maybe use a comparator across the current shunt to determine whether it's charging or discharging and then use that output to switch on the power for one of two energy monitors so that one will track charging and the other tracks discharging energy. You would then have to mentally subtract the two to determine whether it's got net positive or negative energy accumulated.
      When the unit power is turned off it should stop counting so only one of the units should be on at a time depending on what charge/discharge mode it is.

      not sure. Sometimes people replicate them or may be you got different version if a battery is connected and load is turned ON.

      @@WattHourThanks for replying , I appreciate your input. But I was thinking that this may be caused by wrong wiring order? The instructions say that "the wiring order can't be wrong". But I'm not sure how exactly to do this, the instructions are vague about order.
      Could you please kindly help me by uploading a photo of your exact wiring so that it is obvious what goes exactly where? Because it's also difficult to tell from just your video

      @@WattHour yes, in short, it doesn't do SOC. This is despite the three letters "SOC" at the bottom of the bar graph. I am annoyed because I wasted my money. It sounds like I am not alone in my expectations. This device has a current shunt (required to get current data) and claims SOC yet fails to properly implement the feature. Not sure if that is due to a language barrier or the maker doesn't understand what the customers want / need. But it's a fail from me.

      Hello, at the input we can have solar panel or power source from wall outlet or a battery. Then for the output we can have batter that is charged from solar panel or wall outlet. If we sit have battery at the output then it we have have a bulb or motor. Any case we can measure the amount of energy .

    I bought it and disappointed. The SOC is fake it's only an estimation based on the battery voltage, not current as it should. Plus it only counts the current while discharging, not charging, so the displayed value is also false if you charge the battery while using it (which most of the time is the case). Useless gadget.
