I wanted to add a backlight to my PEAK ethernet tester a year or two back, emailed them and got the same superb service from Jeremy with some hints and tips. What an absolutely fantastic company, truly a credit to the UK manufacturing scene. Just wanted to say this to dispell anyone who thinks this good service is only reserved for RUclipsrs or those with a public platform.
Thanks for that Alex, I had been thinking the same at first, but then I found tons of reviews with similar experiences which is why I included some of those on the video. Yes great company and Jeremy is a top bloke!
@@danhorton6182 really well actually. I can only speak for the ethernet tester, but shoot them an email explaining what you want to do and they may give you some tips.
This one put a smile on my face - it's so rare to find that level of customer service these days. I always knew Peak products where good, but the excellent customer service makes them so much better! Thanks for sharing.
I have dealt with Jeremy myself and have met him on a couple of occasions. A really nice guy who stands by his products. I have several items of Peak test gear and yes, you can do similar with a 20 quid chinese tester but one thing you cannot do with a chinese tester is get a calibration certificate that is valid for the uk defence industry! Jeremy offered to update the software in my ESR meter as it struggled to measure the lower value capacitors found in vintage equipment (100nF and below) for free, just send him the meter. Fantastic company and great service.
I am have been looking for some component testers.. after seeing this .. I am going to buy them from this company .. and tell everyone I know to do the same.. I LOVE THIS .. first time in a long time a company made me smile .. just AWESOME !!!
For those also into electronics and don't already know. These meters are top of the line. They retail around $200 each and are worth every dollar. They can identify spec and components most other meters have issues with. Can't recommend them enough.
Yes, companies like this seem few and far between these days. Most companies aren't very helpful at all like FLIR and FIMER as you saw from the emails.
Wow ,there are still decent people in the world today. Very refreshing. Will definitely buy from them the next time I need test equipment that they make. I as well give my time in the automotive industry to help older and disabled people that have very little money. My way of giving back. Keep up the good work !!!
I also want to say that I have had contact with Jeremy because of a firmware issue with a Peak tester that I have. Extremely helpful, very friendly, and resolved the problem at no cost to me. Excellent service. To discover that it’s a family business and everything is manufactured in the UK just makes it more impressive.
I wanted to repair an autopilot for a sailboat. The microprocessor needed to be replaced. I called a company but they only sold them in quantities of several thousand. And the person I was talking to offered to send me one for free. I received it with a little thank you note. I was very pleased and in the end the sailboat was able to find its autopilot again and we could see that everything was working properly.
Nice, unfortunately this seems the exception rather than the rule these days. I think companies like the one you encountered and this one are hard to come by.
Always nice to hear when companies are willing to help us. I know I will be purchasing a ESR meter from peak just based solely on your experience. Always great to see . Thanks Mick !
I own 5 items of their test equipment bought over the years, Well designed, great pieces of kit! Good customer service gets you a good name, and people are more inclined to buy your equipment. Other companies could learn a lot by following their example! Well done, Mick and Jeremy!
So rare these days to see such wonderful customer support. Full points to Peak and their team for making great products and delivering quality customer service.
Major kudos to Peak Electronic Design Ltd, what a fantastic company, I'll certainly use them if I need to buy any relevant test equipment. Great products, service and support are so hard to find these days. Likewise huge thanks to Mick for highlighting this and of course the repair. Let's hope that they're never swallowed up by some greedy corporation (as seems to happen to so many amazing small companies in all walks of life). I also appreciate Jeremy highlighting in his email what many electronics repairers already know regarding failed electrolytics being pushed to their limit; so many electronics devices fail because of this (and other cheap capacitors) after a relatively short period of time, leading to wasted money and more junk in the local landfill (and most of those devices are from China). I would hope that governments would step in to stop this and not allow such devices to enter the market but many politicians are in the back pockets of assorted large corporations, etc.
Jeremy sounds like an amazing bloke. I guess I’ll have to get a peak to replace my cheap Chinese device to support a British brand (had no idea it was all done in the UK, very nice).
@@BuyitFixit Are you able to get LCR-TC1, from AE, and compare to Peak device, one single diode, capacitor, resistor, to test on LCR-TC1 and on Peak device, and also on multimeter? I would like to know difference between LCR-TC1 and Peak, if peak is better I would consider buying it.
So nice to see people sharing the same passion, being kind and helping each other. It's so rare these days. Big thanks to Peak also for supporting Mick's channel by giving away a new component tester! 👍👏♥️
I am very shocked and amazed that you got such GREAT customer service response from the manufacturer! And you were able to replace the part ,already programmed!
What an excellent bit of customer service, particularly given you aren't the original customer. Next time I need some test kit, I'll be looking at Peak products.
Always look forward to my Saturday fix, and this one didn't disappoint, as usual. What a breath of fresh air to find a company that looks after it's customers, and UK based. I am going to order the ATPK3 tomorrow also considering the UTOP05. We need to support UK company's who produce quality products and provide the customer service that is so lacking these days, bravo PEAK and Jeremy. Keep up the good work Mick, the one channel I look forward to every week.
Its refreshing to see such companies still exist and care for their customers and potential customers who WILL buy from them knowing they wont be fobbed off once they've e handed over their money .Theres still some that care and try their best to help even some that try long after any warranty has gone .Cscope a british metal detector company gave me a new shell for a 40 year old machine but contrasting that an American company couldnt supply a switch cap from a 14 month old machine.
Yes, I like the Peak test gear. Recently used the ESR70 to diagnose a faulty electrolytic capacitor in a faulty incubator oven used by St George's University in London and brought into our Orpington Repair Cafe. Great to see the customer service at Peak is excellent 👌 Great fix though, well done.
Top video as always! That was a 180 I haven't expected. I've thought it might be game over. I've known the component testers from Peak electronic design for about 28 years and that they are a small'ish company based in the UK, but to be honest I wouldn't have thought they would be that accommodating. The reaction from the company was excellent.
Love to see it when a business operates like this. I guess it comes a bit with the territory when you're selling electronics test equipment, that does make it more natural to trust that your customers can actually diagnose and fix a fault on their own, but still, the attitude and level of service here is top notch and exactly how I wish every company operated. The test meters look great too - expensive from what the other comments here say, but clearly worth it as they're obviously vastly better than those cheap mass produced ones. Keeping both design and production local is also great to see!
Hey Mick, I wanted to ask you, are you able to do a video explaining what ripple current is/does, when replacing a capacitor do you need to match this value, can you replace it with a higher ripple current value, the rules around replacing a capacitor with one thats not the same specs etc. And what is esr about and does it matter when replacing capacitors. I know it's a big ask, but you have a way of explaining things that just makes sense to me and many others I'm sure and it would really help clear things up. Thank you, and keep up the great work. 👍
I have 4 different test devices from Peak. So far all have been fantastic and extremely accurate. The 55 and the ESR gold are in use daily. Even without your exceptional customer experience, i would recommend them to anyone. Karl
This video is better than any advert that PEAK could have put out there. I was skeptical of those little testers, but this video convinced me to get one ASAP. Thank You! :-)
I am so glad I chose to buy their LCR meter and component tester rather than some cheap Chinese version off eBay, long before this video came out. Exactly the type of company I like to support. 👍👍👍
Hi Jeremy and Peak are well known for their exemplary service. I have four of thier units and regularly send for calibration - always very swift and efficient. One of the very best of UK small comanies - long may you prosper!
I have the DCA55 at work and bought the DCA75 for my bench (at home)… they are a great company. So many clever engineers and technologists in the UK! Cheers! And, thank you! Great video! (I repair True Blue Power equipment for Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics, in Wichita, KS… USA)
I have an DCA55, ESR60 and an LCR40 from PEAK, and i find the units very good designed and useful. All three units working fine, however I am very glad the see which good service they offer. Thanks for the good skilled video :) Regards to UK
Awesome repair and Jeremy and Peak get an "atta boy". So happy to hear of a company with great business ethics. I see some of their equipment in my near future.
I’ve been using the Peak ESR meter for about 5 years. Wonderful piece of kit. It just works! I’ve never had a problem with it, so never had reason to try Peak’s customer service, but I’m blown away by the response you received. What an amazing company! Next time I need to replace test kit, they will be top of the list.
I have a Peak ethernet tester with a bunch of ID terminal plugs with patch cables, it's a great little device which was handy when I was doing store refits, it saved a bunch of legwork punching in patch panels.
Nicely done Mick. I've used PEAK testers for years, helping with my radio repairs. I've had nothing but stellar service from them. Every question answered, and then some. I've never had a problem with them. I bought three tester stands, a while back - but Jeremy sent five with his compliments. I use the DCA 55, the LCR40, and the ESR70. Superb testers, designed and manufactured by a Great British company, and run by an all round good-egg. Bravo!
I have the same esr tester and love it. I'm in the US so shipping is expensive but it's so worth it. I'm going to get more of their gear as my budget allows so I'm glad you all had such a good response.
I’ve been hesitant about purchasing Peak component testers, mainly due to the price. However, after seeing how well Peak handled your repair and their exceptional customer service, I’m convinced it’s worth the investment. Plus, the ability to connect the tester to a PC for curve tracing functionality (I believe this model does, but it’s worth double-checking) is a great bonus. I’ll be buying my first Peak tester as soon as I can. Thanks for the video-entertaining and insightful as always!
Peak Electronics is a reputable company with stellar customer service, it shows in the response you received. Very few companies now a days show this kind of concern for their customers, shout out to Peak! Troubleshooting had me confused (thermal camera) but diagnosing the main chip was right on, well done. Thanks for another video and great fix as always, enjoy the new tester. See ya next time.
I've used Peak products for years. I haven't had anything break yet, so have no experience dealing with the company, but it is good to see that the aftersales service is excellent.
All of a sudden you can't buy any Peak testers for love nor money! (Think i'm joking - well I hope they can keep up with the increased demand). What a great advert for this British Company, I would love to have one, but I neither do enough repair work or have enough money to afford one - I'm mostly retired. This is a pleasure to see and I hope Jeremy and his company does very well out of this involvement in the video, as they undoubtedly should do!
I've never seen a company go above and beyond like this one has for any customer. it shows that there are people out there that actually care about the consumer! I am flabbergasted. Darn right speechless! This is the type of customer care that gets the business and deserves the business! 😊
I used to be a reseller for the company many years ago and there service is excellent. I can highly recommend their zener tester (ZEN50) since it can measure both high voltage LEDs as well as zeners up to 50 volt. Also, the big brother of DCA55 is the DCA75 which has a USB port and if you download the SW, you can use it as a semiconductor trazer. Very useful
PEAK make great products (I have quite a collection in my toolbox!) and it doesn't surprise me that a company like theirs is so great at customer support. Nice one Jeremy, it's no wonder you and PEAK are the success you are today.
First time I saw an ESR 70 was 8 years ago on John Ward's channel. Always wanted one, but now that you exposed them for the awesome people they are I'm so getting one even if I have to pay extra shipping and duty tax :)
Well Done Peak. It's so great to see a company that supports it's customers and products. I've been looking at their stuff and after watching this I think I'll buy one.
Jeremy Siddons, if you read this, my hat's off to you! I live in Sweden, but if I need anything you manufacture I will certainly try to buy your product and I will mention your company to everyone I know. You certainly saved the day for our repair hero on this channel and showed how great companies worth supporting are doing their business. Thanks again! Edit: Electrokit in Sweden carry your products, bingo!
Thank you for your comment, it made me smile on a wet Sunday afternoon here in Buxton, UK! Don't hesitate to contact us if we can assist with any queries. You can be assured that we will always support customers long after the standard 2 year warranty expires too. Cheers, Jeremy
Great fix! I'm truly amazed at such a fix, yet alone perfect tech support from Peak. Well done Peak! For my 25 years service with my company, ( about 20 years ago now! ) I asked for the Atlas LCR & DCA set in a box. I do occasional fixes and these are extremely useful and easy to use devices. When the set was presented to me, no one seemed to know what they were, but I was happy. These devices are still in use with the original batteries. Calibration was due 15 years ago!
Thanks for letting us know about the great company, who actually cares about people! I'll definitely look at acquiring one of these devices, and check out their other devices. And thanks for another great repair video!
I look forward to your videos, how you diagnose problems and your techniques to fix the issues. I really liked the way you soldered the chip in place 👍👍
Fantastic customer service for sure. I wish all companies were that considerate of customers. I am just beginning but I will keep them in mind when I need one of these. Thanks for the video.
I had exactly the same experience with Thurlby Thandar TTI when i wanted parts for my frequency counter, so refreshing to have a decent company who helps you, i have the same tester and the LCR meter. Excellent company.
Nice 👍Sounds like another great company. I think I've got something of theirs too.. Just checked yes my bench PSU (EX4210R) and a TG215 signal generator that someone gave me.
I have an early transistor only tester, it was expensive but it's British and works well, only had to change the battery. Never had to deal with customer service , but this gives me great confidence if I do need to.
I've had the ESR70 and DCA55 for years now and they've been very useful, the only slight annoyance is the special 12V batteries, but I see they have been re-engineered now to take normal AAA batteries, and the range expanded to many more useful meters. Highly recommended UK company.
Nice 👍Yes I noticed there is a v4 DCA55 which seems to take AAA, there was a small diagram I got with what IC's to check on the initial email. It also had a rough layout of the V4 which seems to have more protection diodes and a boost converter to step up the voltage from the AAA instead of a regulator to regulate it from the 12V battery.
I got the Peak DCA 75 as it's got a curve tracer, which I needed to fix old electronics. Awesome device and superior customer service. Love the company, they are truly awesome. I'd also love to have their ESR meter someday.
Its nice to know that Peak offer proper support for their testers. I own their ESR an component testers and I think they are excellent pieces of test equipment after using them in various repair projects
Now we also have the same ESR tester!! Great unit, bought it years ago. Actually really good at checking electrolytics IN curcuit, I have found. I find too many techs are focused on capacitance readings on electrolytics, my primary is the ESR.
You'll love the ESR70, I have one and also got the needle probes for in-circuit testing. I've since got the DCA75 and LCR45. They are great little meters if a little on the expensive side, but they do the job reliably with no fuss. Good to know their customer service is solid. They have warnings in the literature about discharging caps before testing, pays to read them sometimes 😆
That's awesome! I have had several Peak testers over the years and have shown some on my channel in the past including the DCA-55 and the ESR-70 The ESR-70 is one of my favorites. It tests ESR so well and its so easy to use. I had no idea they were a small company and had such awesome customer service. That's so rare these days and such a positive thing. Excellent repair, and thanks for sharing!
Well done to both you and Peak. We have been using the Peak ESR60/70, LCR40 and DCA75 for probably 10 years now. They are fantastic tools and the ESR tester has been invaluable on the bench.
this is how companies become successful excellent customer service for their products gets them positive word of mouth that will spread to consumers and reward them with success in their company .everybody wins
Totally agree. I had been thinking was it just me? but then I found a lot of reviews etc saying the pretty much the same and all said they were a fantastic company.
Just started watching. You’ve got the same sign as me there, the wife got it for me. Peak are very good, Jeremy is very helpful, they offer a repair service for the equipment too, I’ve done some reviews for them.
Another great video, I have nearly all of the Peak products and there service is exceptional. I once had an issue with the esr70 sent it to them for repair and they returned it with the latest version at no extra cost, all there repairs are fixed price regardless of fault, fast turnaround too.
Thanks 👍Yes I forgot to mention that even if it's your fault they'll still repair it, not like some companies where they say it's not covered under warranty because you damaged it.

I use the DCA 55, the LCR40, and the ESR70. Superb testers, designed and manufactured by a Great British company, and run by an all round good-egg. Bravo!
Cheers 👍and thanks for sharing your experience too!
I have the same esr tester and love it. I'm in the US so shipping is expensive but it's so worth it. I'm going to get more of their gear as my budget allows so I'm glad you all had such a good response.
Nice 👍I'm glad I had such a response too!
Nice to have a company who cares about us and not just money. Nice job my friend.
Thank you Fred 👍
They even send you a component to test your component tester.
Great service and great fix. 👍🏼😃
Thanks 👍Yes fantastic service and great company!
Thank you 👍 They aren't the cheapest but a lot of viewers have recommended them to me so they are supposed to be really good stuff!
Cheers Terry👍The 4051 was faulty too as it was heating up and causing the battery drain.
@@BuyitFixit So the thermal camera did show a fault, I should have respected that👍 Thanks.
I've used Peak products for years. I haven't had anything break yet, so have no experience dealing with the company, but it is good to see that the aftersales service is excellent.
Nice, and yes aftersales is superb!
I have a couple of Peak testers and they work very well. Never had a fault with them but great to see the customer service you received.
@@laverdanick Nice 👍and thank you 🙂
Wow, that's amazing customer service! I've been eyeing up their purple ESR meter for work, they've sure earned it in this video! Thank you.
Nice, yes seems a great company and nice kit!
😂😂Peak shortage 😂 Yes, great company and a lovely bloke!
I have a couple of peak test units which I have found very useful , great to hear Peak has great customer service 👍😎
Nice 👍and yes brilliant customer service 🙂
I've used a Peak LCR tester for many years. Great product at a very resonable price.
I might see if I can get one of those in the future!
Well done and a SHOUT OUT to Peak for exceptional customer service.
Thanks 👍and I'm sure Peak will appreciate that!
Nice fix. Great the maker was kind enough to send you the parts. Big bonus is the other tool you got.
Thanks and yes, seems a great little company 👍
That result has put me right on to them, confidence in a company is everything. Thanks for this video upload!
Thanks for commenting, yes companies like this seem few and far between these days.
I've never seen a company go above and beyond like this one has for any customer. it shows that there are people out there that actually care about the consumer! I am flabbergasted. Darn right speechless! This is the type of customer care that gets the business and deserves the business! 😊
Totally agree 👍
Exceptional Customer Service = Very Rare these days. 👍
Yes totally agree 👍
In Australia have many Peak products and no failures, reached support few times quick response and to the point.
Thanks for sharing Wayne 👍
I used to be a reseller for the company many years ago and there service is excellent. I can highly recommend their zener tester (ZEN50) since it can measure both high voltage LEDs as well as zeners up to 50 volt. Also, the big brother of DCA55 is the DCA75 which has a USB port and if you download the SW, you can use it as a semiconductor trazer. Very useful
Thanks for sharing 👍
PEAK make great products (I have quite a collection in my toolbox!) and it doesn't surprise me that a company like theirs is so great at customer support. Nice one Jeremy, it's no wonder you and PEAK are the success you are today.
Couldn't agree more!
First time I saw an ESR 70 was 8 years ago on John Ward's channel. Always wanted one, but now that you exposed them for the awesome people they are I'm so getting one even if I have to pay extra shipping and duty tax :)
Nice one 👍It's a pity I'm not on commission 😂😂😂😂
Well Done Peak. It's so great to see a company that supports it's customers and products. I've been looking at their stuff and after watching this I think I'll buy one.
Nice one 👍yes fantastic company.
Thanks and hopefully he reads your comment 👍
Thank you for your comment, it made me smile on a wet Sunday afternoon here in Buxton, UK! Don't hesitate to contact us if we can assist with any queries. You can be assured that we will always support customers long after the standard 2 year warranty expires too.
Cheers,
Jeremy
Great to hear that a company goes the extra mile to help. I got a blown component on a launch tester but just afraid to ask them what it could be😂
Yes great service, seems the exception rather than the norm these days.
Just made my Saturday so much better...THANKS!
Thank you 👍
Thank you 👍And thanks for sharing that brilliant story!
Thanks for letting us know about the great company, who actually cares about people! I'll definitely look at acquiring one of these devices, and check out their other devices. And thanks for another great repair video!
Thank you too 👍
I look forward to your videos, how you diagnose problems and your techniques to fix the issues. I really liked the way you soldered the chip in place 👍👍
Cheers 👍Yes flux is the key!
Had the same experience when I returned my DCA55 for repair. Couldn’t recommend them more highly and wish them every success .
Nice 👍 Hopefully they continue to prosper, other companies should take a leaf out of their book!
Fantastic customer service for sure. I wish all companies were that considerate of customers. I am just beginning but I will keep them in mind when I need one of these. Thanks for the video.
Thanks, and yes fantastic customer service!
So good to learn about PAEK service and support. Their gear is expensive but, when you factor in that support, it's money well spent.
Yes, totally agree 👍
I had exactly the same experience with Thurlby Thandar TTI when i wanted parts for my frequency counter, so refreshing to have a decent company who helps you, i have the same tester and the LCR meter. Excellent company.
Nice 👍Sounds like another great company. I think I've got something of theirs too.. Just checked yes my bench PSU (EX4210R) and a TG215 signal generator that someone gave me.
I have an early transistor only tester, it was expensive but it's British and works well, only had to change the battery. Never had to deal with customer service , but this gives me great confidence if I do need to.
Cool, well at least you know the customer service is exceptional!
Fabulous...!! Nice to hear of some good quality customer service fir a change. Well done Mick, and we'll done Peak....!! ❤
Cheers Philip 👍Yes refreshing change!
I can vouch for their customer service too. I use both a DCA55 and ESR70 Gold at my repair cafe too. Superb pieces of equipment.
Nice one 👍Thanks for sharing 🙂
The manufacturer with a golden heart. Props to Jeremy. 🎉
Yes indeed 👍
Can't see Sony providing this level of customer service well done peak and mick
Cheers 👍
That unit is a beast. I own their tweezers and love them!
Hmm I didn't know they did tweezers. I'll go have a look 👍
I got the Peak DCA 75 as it's got a curve tracer, which I needed to fix old electronics. Awesome device and superior customer service. Love the company, they are truly awesome. I'd also love to have their ESR meter someday.
Great to hear!
Its nice to know that Peak offer proper support for their testers. I own their ESR an component testers and I think they are excellent pieces of test equipment after using them in various repair projects
Thanks for that Matt, great to know 👍
Now we also have the same ESR tester!! Great unit, bought it years ago. Actually really good at checking electrolytics IN curcuit, I have found.
I find too many techs are focused on capacitance readings on electrolytics, my primary is the ESR.
Thanks for sharing. I'm sure I'll put it to good use in future videos!
I have an ESR tester like this, and it works great ! 👍 Nice of them to help you out with some of their kit!
Nice 👍Yes they are supposed to be really good, other viewers have recommended them.
@@chrisdado Thanks for that 👍
That's awesome!
Thank you 👍Yes awesome customer service!
Well done to both you and Peak. We have been using the Peak ESR60/70, LCR40 and DCA75 for probably 10 years now. They are fantastic tools and the ESR tester has been invaluable on the bench.
Thanks 👍and thank you for sharing your experience with them 🙂
Thank you! Nice mode of soldering chips! The perfect way!
Cheers 👍🙂
this is how companies become successful excellent customer service for their products gets them positive word of mouth that will spread to consumers and reward them with success in their company .everybody wins
Totally agree. I had been thinking was it just me? but then I found a lot of reviews etc saying the pretty much the same and all said they were a fantastic company.
@@BuyitFixit being decent does have it's rewards ....good for them
I was surprised too! Got it muddled up with peaktech first! Wonderful to see such companies!
Yes indeed!
Damn, I still have one of those ...... working...!!! Nice to see that there are still great companies out there. Great work.
Thank you 👍
Just started watching. You’ve got the same sign as me there, the wife got it for me. Peak are very good, Jeremy is very helpful, they offer a repair service for the equipment too, I’ve done some reviews for them.
Nice 👍I think my daughter got me the sign 😂😂Yes Jeremy seems a great guy!
Well done Peak.
Also, great drag soldering technique...
Thanks 👍🙂
