It appears that your date magnifier is already scratched. I used Diamond Paste to repair mine after a brass button on a jacket sleeve attacked the magnifier. The magnifier at least should have been made with Sapphire.

It is overpriced. It doesn’t make sense to have to take off the watch to flip the dial. Worst of all, the plain side with no markings is disappointing.

I just got the 217-9A today, the all black with gold. Love it! The strap is too long though, I took some scissors and gave it a snip. LOL $17 for mine, not gonna matter.

Really good review. I'd get it but as a Father and sole prodivder, it is out of my price range. I went with an Invicta Coke. $76 and NH35 is a bargain. I love Timex and own two but they're too expensive for me. Wish I made more.

I'm the opposite. I don't like smartwatches as I'm lazy enough as it is to charge my phones. Don't need another one to aggravate things (not to mention the planned obsolescence of those things forcing you to buy another in a few years) 🤣 casio is god-tier 😁

The quartz version of the mother pearl edition is so much better with his reflect, the powermatic doesn't have it, its to bad...

I just ordered this for my first watch. Ive spent a lot of time researching before my buy and slept on it for a few nights. Id like to add a perspective on the candy bar magnification. I thought about it and even though it will be useful when my eyes get bad. I’m choosing to replace the whole hardlex with a new sapphire double dome. If seiko made this with a sapphire dome and the candy bar thing was on it i wouldn’t mind at all. Just a newbie.

Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops! MAMACOO watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.

Too much architecture going on underneath the wrist with the lipless deployant clasps for me .. I can see it catching on clothing etc.. I like the look of the standard pin and buckle options tho.

It's a beautiful watch. I love watches with blue dials because blue is a versatile color in my opinion. I haven't seen this Tissot watch in person but the blue color of its dial reminds me of the blue dial on the Frederique Constant Manufacture Slimline Moonphase.

today nobody is buying SKX just for look , like they do with new watches , this watch becomes very fast a classic watch and one must have in Seiko collection , in my opinion people buying it coz there is not many of them in good condition and those watches ffinally landed in closed boxes and not really on wrist's. Saing to someone who wants SKX and probably wants it for collection to buy other new watch has no point. And regular folks ,non watch collectors do not looking for SKX coz they have no idea obout this watch, coz is out of production for years already. What you says here will work only before 2019 when SKX was on sale. If I will look for SKX I will buy SKX and later on maybe this watch.

Seiko sells so many diferent types of watches from watches that cost 50$ and watches that cost thousends of dollars, and selling many them with hardlex glass is one from not many ways to separate those watches, it is not about money its only about diversity. Sometimes they sell watches with saphire glass below 200 and with hardlex around 500, who knows how they decide which watch will get saphire, some more special but cheap can get and most of expensive ones. And you right about this watch, this GMT for someone who collects watches for years ,this watch directly looks like future classic. You can see in first look that this watch has character and is something more than rest of Seiko 5 line.Maybe I will buy it, who knows.

This is an amazing and very thorough review! I saw this watch on sale too and thought about buying it. I also like the Coke model more than the other colorways, but that black plastic ring just annoys me and my perfectionist brain too much. Nonetheless, great video and keep up the great work!

the exact term should be Flyer Gmt and Caller GMt , as in True GMT we mean to say the other is false while its is not . So flyer GMT where the GMt hand is usually set to the home time and while you travel you change the main handset while the GMt remains same whereas in a caller GmT the main handset is used to represent the local time while you set the GMT hand and bezel for other time zones

Certainly an attractive watch for a good price but I'm still disappointed by the replacement of the steel case back with a hardlex case back, forgoing the calibre number and case model number for a model name, no longer encoding the manufacturing date into the serial number, and no longer adhering to the five assurances that the number 5 in Seiko 5 stood for such as in the crown no longer being recessed. The overall look is classic but that's because far earlier models were similar such as the 7009-3040. As to the crystal, you can easily polish out scratches from acrylic crystals and sapphire crystals are difficult to scratch, though hardlex mineral glass were introduced as more resistant to scratches than the mineral glass common at the time so it is also disappointing that Seiko has not moved on to sapphire crystals with the Seiko 5.
