I was quite late to the SKX’s iconic watch game as I was focusing on collecting the Swiss brands. However, once I got hold of my first SKX (009) earlier this year (2022), I relentlessly got hold of the 007/009 (both K&J) as well as the 013j albeit at a premium from the grey dealers and private owners. No regrets as they are true iconic and tool watches for the true watch enthusiasts.

If you don't mind a Seiko homage, Long Island Watch make two "clones" of the 38mm SKX. ISL-05 is a homage of the SKX013 and ISL-48 is a homage of the SKX015 (pepsi). They have the upgraded NH35 movement, sapphire crystal, and upgraded bracelet at $300 USD.

Long Island watches are solid value for the price.
Accuracy is top notch as is the build quality.
      Purchased various Seiko over time.
Many are not from Japan and regardless of price did not maintain accuracy or meet quality control standards.
Only one Seiko I purchased came direct from Japan and maintained accuracy and excellent build quality.
Overall it was still nowhere close to the value long island watch offered for less money.

i have a small wrist and this year decided to try the baby tuna, and honestly it's feel so comfortable that you can't imagine that is a 43 mm watch, I think the PVD of the case helped so much.
If anyone try to find a diver for small wrist, the baby tuna definitely is a fantastic alternative, specific I have the SRPE29K1 which it's a brown color perfectly for wearing everyday.

After watching and reading many reviews, I got a Heimdallr "SKX007" last month . I had a bit of trepidation when I ordered it; but, I am more than pleasantly surprised with it. It has a Seiko NH36A movement (hacking); Sapphire crystal with AR-Coating; outstanding lume (uses SuperLuminova C3); the bezel aligns perfectly; and, it's on an acceptable oyster style stainless steel bracelet (a jubilee style bracelet is available). I paid $149 - which included a NATO strap.
It's available on Amazon and on the Heimdallr website (I've ordered from both and both provided very prompt delivery).

In all probability, I'll end up buying a NOS SKX013. Prices range from $500 to $1k. If you love a watch so much, it's priceless. In the meantime, I have an upgraded 38mm 5KX; I took this watch from a diver-style watch to a true 200m diver, complete with a screw down crown, sapphire, and a lume pip for the bezel. And I am working on my SKX013 super build, which will appear stock but will have tons of upgrades. My favorite watch is the BB54, and the SKX013 is my second.
There's just something about the day-date and 5 link bracelet on a diver. The huge markers and off-set crown. Love it.

I grabbed my SKX009 during a BF sale couple of years ago for about $219 but with the strap which is still pretty good considering the ludicrous prices everywhere else, aftermarket bracelets for this watch you can get anywhere. Frankly the 7S26 movement is really obsolete in 2022 and mine came with a day display problem but it is still one of the favourite pieces in my humble collection. It is still a tank of a watch that you don't need to baby around and despite the new line of 'dressKX' watches they will never truly be an authentic SKX with that coveted ISO rating. If you can find one under US$250 its a must have.

    Diver for small wrists:
    - Vostok Amphibia 420: very affordable, very cool design and history, was worn by Bill Murray in the "Life Aquatic"
    - RDNUAE 6105-8000: 1:1 case copy of the Seiko 6105-8000 slim case turtle from 1968
    - Island Watch #ISL-05: a modern interpretation of the SKX013.
Seiko Divers in general are great for small wrists. Their cases wear much smaller than the dimensions suggest.
On my flat 6-inch wrist I can wear the SRP-777 Turtle, the SPB077 Marinemaster 200 and the SBDX017 MM300, no problem at all.

It is unfortunately very hard to find small actual dive watches these days (I am not refering to dive styled watches, but actual diver's watches), as you pointed it out. But still there's no way I'd spend 500 or even more on a SKX. I'd recommend the Certina DS Action Diver in 38mm - a little bit over 500 but it is a true ISO diver to 300m, it has a bracelet with solid links and endlinks, a milled clasp and a diver's extension, sapphire with AR coating, and a Powermatic 80 movement. It is much better made than the SKX, obviously. If 41-42mm is ok, Citizen has plenty of great dive watches from 200 to 500 bucks. And even Seiko, the Monsters are easy to find under 500 - and even if I don't think they are a great value proposition at that price (I mean, they still use the 4R movement, hardlex, pressed clasp, etc), they are certainly superior to the SKX. SKX was great at 200 bucks, but not anymore.

You got it for a good price! However i would not buy one now, because for that 500 to 1000.00 range there are a lot of better purchases available with better movement's, for example one of the Seiko "SARW" line can still be found and they have a 28.8kbph movement and classic design my first watch purchase was going to be the SARB017 "ALPINIST", But i saw the SARW019 and immediately bought it! It "checked more boxes" for me a unique color, better movement, and 3 subdial, (day-date - power reserve), i couldn't afford to buy a real chronograph at the time but the SARW019 was only 629.00 usd.

So yes, there are better specified and better finished divers available up to $1k but NONE as iconic or wearable as the SKX - you have look towards a Tudor Black Bay 58, Omega Seamaster or Rolex Submariner costing thousands to get into anything this iconic- put simply? - under $2500 there really isn’t any more iconic diver than the SKX

I regretted modding my skx013. It became nicer but it lost its iconic historical design. Would just keep it as it is. If I want a higher spec small size skx, I would order a custom build skx013 instead without using any original parts from scratch.

Tbh I won't pay more than $250 unless I absolutely really need a small divers. I will look at other alternatives like the
newer $200 ish Seiko 5 sports. Or even Orient Kamasu with better specs, though it wears a tad big.
But some may find value in its lack of availability since its been discontinued. So to each their own I guess.

I really don’t know, I would love to have this watch considering the size actually

  • @mr.smartmovesforlife2408

You would be a fool not to by the skx013. The watch will continue to gain value. Especially since smaller divers are far more attractive that larger diver's in 2023/2024. In addition, the fact the SKX013's are hard to find UNMODDED, the values can easily reach north of $1600. If you can get one for $600 LET ME KNOW!!! I WILL BUY IT!!! I will SELL THE $600 ONE AND KEEP MY OWN FOR A GREATER PAYDAY!!! Seiko no longer makes ISO Certification watches at that price point. The watch community RESPECTS THE 007,009,013. With all things being considered, the 013 is priceless.

At US$200, this was extremely good value. But even at $500, it’s still good value. Your problem is you have very little knowledge. Just like your comment about the Digital PRX being ‘a tedious piece of crap’. The SKX if you look at the specs still offers great value even for $500. Apart from the 200 metres WR and screw down crown and excellent lume, it’s actually ISO certified for not just WR but for shock and magnetic too 🧲. Which other brand offers this for $500? You really have no clue about watches other than the superficial stuff. You really ought to do some research before making a video. Everything is relative. You need to compare the SKX to other watches to determine value. Don’t just simply say the price has doubled and hence it’s no longer worth it. It’s a really dumb way of analysing it. It’s a reflection of your low quality imo. An ISO certified diver would be upwards of $1,000.

It's just how bad do you want it and if you choose not to buy it because of it's price point then okay, but if you're still wanting it and you still haven't pulled the trigger to have it, then your just torturing yourself and that's not living. Fortunately you only have to buy it once and maybe the market in the future may demand more for it, who knows.
