Alt of the Seiko 5's look more expensive then they are. I myself have the gold version SNXS80. Maybe you should get one for modding :) Ty great video@@ashleytee
Tape on the broken crystal before removing the bezel helps keep all the fragments together and minimizes risk of damaging dial. Glad to see you fix it!
Congratulations on the fix. I have a Seiko that my wife gave me for Christmas the first year we were married 1985. I've broken the crystal twice and had it replaced. A year or so ago I bought a Casio Marlin. Did the same thing that I did to the Seiko, dropped it face down on the ceramic tile bathroom floor. Another trip to the watch repair.
So glad I bought this gorgeous watch. Replaced all my collection. Even my Omega. I adore it. I wear it everyday. Glad you fixed it and gratz for your taste. Enjoy that watch. I know I will. Thank you, SEIKO geniuses.
I sincerely hope the present took all of Ashley’s costs, talent and time into account. You’re set to benefit hugely thanks to her, and you obviously see her channel as an opportunity for you to increase your sales. There are lots of comments expressing interest in the double-domed crystal in this comments section. I’d hope that you’d give her a cut of the additional sales?
Your crystals are great! I have shipped a few down here to Costa Rica (through Miami) really quickly and my watchmaker can't believe they come from so far away!
Hi, Ashley. I'm not surprised that you seemed excited to see the dial of your Seiko 5 without the glass, as the sunburst-brushed finish is my favourite feature of this model. Seiko does a better job of applying this type of finish than just about anybody else in the industry because they manufacture their own brushed finish machines, featuring unique, ultra-fine polymer bristles. It's definitely one of the main factors making the SNXS models as beautiful as watches costing a lot more.
Good job replacing the crystal. Looks better with the double dome. I had a Seiko 5 just like this back in the 60s, so it's quite an old model. It was purchased by my father during the Vietnam War, and it was the one I wore through high school.
It was fun watching you replace the broken crystal with a new DD crystal. It's great to know someone like you enjoys collecting watches, and I recommended my Malaysian wife watch your videos.
Nice to see a fellow Malaysian in the watch repairer / enthusiasts space! Love to see you explore more, maybe try more Seiko Mods, or maybe build your own with some Ali Express parts!
Yes, the double dome crystal looks great. The smile on your face at 08:52 shows how happy you were at your accomplishment and restoring your prized watch back in perfect condition. Good job! Good video. Thumbs up!
I' got mine in 2019 an just now noticed a scratch on the hardlex, I want that double dome crystal! Thanks for this video, I have the same tools as you so I can do it!
Watchmaker here, You are going to want to have the movement serviced ASAP as glass shards and dust always make their way into the movement. I have serviced countless watches with shattered crystals and there was always shards inside the movement. other than that, good job on the crystal replacement. Always love seeing people getting into watch repair!
WELL DONE!!!!! Incredible to see someone fixing it themselves. Much respect. I feel more connected to my watch when I've done the repair myself. Cheers.
Excellent work (and step-by-step walk-though), Ashley…and, yes, the double-dome crystal looks best. I have to say I was holding my breath while you attempted to remove the bezel with all three tools!
The double dome makes the watch look even more expensive. It's nice to see young people getting excited about analog watches that run without software 😀
I’m thinking of upgrading my snxs crystal too. Recently swapped out my other watch with a pt5000 movement , and I got to say it’s a very intimate experience with your watch and make me want to wear it more .
This was my first automatic watch. Never knew about the crystal fixed on by the bezel. Great fix and it's now better than new, well done! Date night with the hubby now you can wear it again ☺
There it difference between K and J models. Don't remember which have jewel info on the dial but I have two or three those dials and on one have jewels count.
Started researching on what is double dorm and now I have fallen into the black hole of learning about watch crystals 😂 anyway happy too see that you got to fix it yourself, bought this watch on April and loving it
Great job repairing your watch. I know this Seiko means a lot to you, and being able to repair it will surely make you even more appreciative of it, as is the case when we learn to repair our belongings.
I was really on the fence about trying to replace the crystal for my SNXS on my own, but you just gave all the confidence I needed! Great video, thanks!
I finally got around to buying everything I needed and just finished the crystal replacement today. I went with a double dome and decided to also get a fluted bezel. I also threw on a jubilee bracelet and the finished product is absolutely stunning!!! Thanks for the video again!
❤❤❤ I woke up this morning to this joyous video 😊 So proud of you and happy to see such a beautiful watch made whole again. Definitely posting this video on WatchCrunch
Such a beautiful watch and now looks even better with that double dome ! I kinda wish I never sold mine now when I got the SARB033. Well done on the repair 👍
Double dome looks AMAZING! My SNXS79J1 is in the mail and should arrive in a few days. I bought it and a Seiko SSK003 after watching your videos. I've had the 003 for 2 days and love it. I can't wait for the 79 to arrive. I have a 1972 Seiko Automatic 7006-7030 with a broken crystal which needs replacing, probably could do with a service to.
wow congratulation! as a person who also loves to fix broken loved things, this video bring me joy. btw I use tempered glass on my snxs79 watch. Few months ago I bought this watch as a gift for myself, and I am still admiring it every day :)
I just bought my first automatic watch (SNXS77) and I'm too scared to do this mod! I might just get the parts and have it installed by a professional. Great vid by the way! ❤
Fascinating!, and well done!...would have been cheaper to get someone to do it for you but I understand that's not the point!, plus, you have all the equipment now if you need to do it again!.
Great job, great video! I replaced the crystal on my SNXS79, because I wanted sapphire. I tried both domed first but its reflections in combination with those from the dial was too much. I replaced it again with a flat sapphire crystal and now all is good! 😃
wow, loved the video. im happy u got it fixed by yourself. I still have not pulled the trigger for this watch, but now my next watch for sure has to be a snxs!
Great job Ashley! I like that you chose the double dome crystal. Your new fan and subscriber Holden from Amish’land (Lancaster/Lititz) Pennsylvania USA 🇺🇸
You know you're serious about watch repair when you break out the finger condoms lol. The end result looks great, I did the same operation to my snk803
HI Ashley. I just found your channel recently and I can tell you're a real watch nut because of how you gushed about that beautiful dial. It's a shame we have to put a crystal over them isn't it?
Can you please advise which case back opener tool are you using? I am stuck with this bezel just can't pop it out. I have similar yellow tool but seems not working... it only scratches the case and that's all.
Given the affordability and availability of Seiko Snxs, have you considered replacing the broken watch with a new one, versus going through the hassle and uncertainty of fixing the watch? I constantly face the temptation of replacing mine because of scratch mark caused with constant changing of bracelet. 😅 Can share your thoughts?
Great video and beautiful job, not just on the watch but filming...have seen a lot of ppl on here who just do it 'off camera' as it is so difficult to do the detail work and get on video
impeccably job I loved your reaction when you did realize it was done. I recommend you to get a watchmakers loupe just to better admire that small details on dial or even in the movement maybe in the future you dare to full service a watch. who knows?
Ashley, a broken crystal can leave behind tiny parts of crystal on the dial and even worst, the tiny parts of crystal might make it into the movement. The watch probably needs a full service to get rid of all debris.
nice repair! - my suggestion here is you should remove the movement in the back 1st before changing or removing the Bezel to protect the movement from any shuttered crystal debris. but anyways Congrats.
Great!!! Would have removed the movement first to be on the safe side. Have fun in the future with titanium cases, NH36 movements, after market dials and hands😂
As you are a Seiko fan, look for a Seiko manufactured in the month & year you were born in (by using the serial number) I finally found my birth watch after years of searching.
the double dome looks real good. Its nice to see a cheap, value packed watch getting love and appreciation. I have one myself and love it
And now it actually looks more expensive than it is!
Alt of the Seiko 5's look more expensive then they are.
I myself have the gold version SNXS80.
Maybe you should get one for modding :)
Ty great video@@ashleytee
I have a similar Seiko I received for my birthday 46 years ago, I wear it every day. Wonderful watches.
Very nice!
Does it still tell the time accurately after 46yr?
Tape on the broken crystal before removing the bezel helps keep all the fragments together and minimizes risk of damaging dial. Glad to see you fix it!
Great idea
Nothing like the joy and satisfaction of fixing something yourself. Nice work and nice watch! 😊
Double dome was the way to go. The watch looks great and your work is high quality both on the watch and video.
Much appreciated!
So glad I bought this gorgeous watch. Replaced all my collection. Even my Omega. I adore it. I wear it everyday. Glad you fixed it and gratz for your taste. Enjoy that watch. I know I will. Thank you, SEIKO geniuses.
Thank you for using my sapphire! I hope you don't mind me using your video to show people how to change the glass. I shipped a present to you too :)
Sure thing! And wow, thanks for dropping by Rob, and the present!

Hey Rob, just wanna drop you a thank you message again for the present :) I've received it and will be swapping it!
@MonsterRob-gq7se do you ship to Sri Lanka?
Hi, Ashley. I'm not surprised that you seemed excited to see the dial of your Seiko 5 without the glass, as the sunburst-brushed finish is my favourite feature of this model. The double domed crystal looks way better than the flat one. Love that watch. Good work. 🙂
Good job replacing the crystal. Looks better with the double dome. I had a Seiko 5 just like this back in the 60s, so it's quite an old model. It was purchased by my father during the Vietnam War, and it was the one I wore through high school.
Very cool! Is this the Seiko Sportsmatic 5?
@@ashleytee Yes, it had the "rice grain" bracelet which stretched easily, and I had to tighten it all the time.
It was fun watching you replace the broken crystal with a new DD crystal. It's great to know someone like you enjoys collecting watches, and I recommended my Malaysian wife watch your videos.
Yay! Hello to your wife👋
Great job repairing that beauty!
Nice to see a fellow Malaysian in the watch repairer / enthusiasts space! Love to see you explore more, maybe try more Seiko Mods, or maybe build your own with some Ali Express parts!

Thanks Ashley! You have definitely given me confidence to repair my SNXS. I'm really impressed that you did it with such basic tools.
I really loved your sigh of relief when it was done. So happy for you. You did a great job.

Ashley is so cute! I’m glad your watch is fixed! I have the same one. It’s the best value for a watch. Just as good as a Rolex oyster
I love Seiko 5 watches, most of them from the 80s or before. Take good care of yours and it will serve you for decades to come.
Well, this is one of the reasons why I admire you: you do things with passion and dedication. That Seiko has a luxurious look with its new crystal
I agree 👍 💯
i am lucky enough to own this, love it
Fantastic watch. I wish they made more of these today. The new ones just have a sporty look with bigger dials.
This was my first automatic watch. Never knew about the crystal fixed on by the bezel. Great fix and it's now better than new, well done!
Date night with the hubby now you can wear it again ☺
I'm with you - double dome. And I really like that smoky dial color. Glad you fixed it!
Double dome is the way to go! Very classy!
Nice job getting the crystal in evenly too. It is a good indication the crystal is good quality.
I have the same model... No Jewel refered on the dial. Simple and more aesthetic. The dial shows even more of its beauty👍
There it difference between K and J models. Don't remember which have jewel info on the dial but I have two or three those dials and on one have jewels count.
Great video and great job replacing the crystal. Congratulations.
Thank you! Cheers!

I just bought my first automatic watch (SNXS77) and I'm too scared to do this mod! I might just get the parts and have it installed by a professional.
Great vid by the way! ❤
A gorgeous watch. Thank you for the love and the care you share.
Looks just as new! Amazing work, the double dome crystal looks like the right choice.
Thank you!
Hi Ashley! Congrats on repairing your beautiful Seiko! And I have to say, I Love the way you speak. Your voice is simply magical!❤
Is the double dome one thicker than the other one?
Looks amazing
Fascinating!, and well done!...would have been cheaper to get someone to do it for you but I understand that's not the point!, plus, you have all the equipment now if you need to do it again!.
Exactly!
This was lovely. Your face when you saw the naked dial (hahaha)
and when you heard the sound of the case popping in (haven't we all felt that once?).
🤭
Great job, great video! I replaced the crystal on my SNXS79, because I wanted sapphire. I tried both domed first but its reflections in combination with those from the dial was too much. I replaced it again with a flat sapphire crystal and now all is good! 😃
That's awesome !
I just ordered flat one too, hope it looks the same as original just more resilient
Great video. I enjoyed hearing about your journey to repair your special watch.
Excellent work! Thank you for sharing. Love this reference and that incredible dial, got to get one soon.
wow, loved the video. im happy u got it fixed by yourself. I still have not pulled the trigger for this watch, but now my next watch for sure has to be a snxs!
This is super wholesome, glad to see you fixed it!
Superb DYI Job Ashely! Thanks for sharing this! Could do the same mod for my 79 as well.
Lovely job Ashley, well done, and as a bonus, the watch looks great.
this actually give me confidence to work on my watch
I'm glad!
Did your research and fixed it.Well done.
Great job Ashley! I like that you chose the double dome crystal. Your new fan and subscriber Holden from Amish’land (Lancaster/Lititz) Pennsylvania USA 🇺🇸
Yay! That's awesome! Hello to you too
honestly, I liked the broken crystal look lol. what a conversation piece.
Great content and good job! My wife scratched the crystal of her own snx last week 😅 but i think a watchmaker will do the job
You know you're serious about watch repair when you break out the finger condoms lol. The end result looks great, I did the same operation to my snk803
Lol 😝 I have a whole packet of it
This watch is gorgeous. Good job replacing the cristal.
You are one clever young lady. Well done!
HI Ashley. I just found your channel recently and I can tell you're a real watch nut because of how you gushed about that beautiful dial. It's a shame we have to put a crystal over them isn't it?

FINALLY, justice has been served for Seiko. OSS...!!!
Good job. Perhaps you may like glass box in future.
Great video and beautiful job, not just on the watch but filming...have seen a lot of ppl on here who just do it 'off camera' as it is so difficult to do the detail work and get on video
Wow thank you! And it's true, it is very difficult to fix it while getting it to focus
Just ordered my replacement sapphire crystal 🔮 🙌 as well as the case press 😮. Tysm !!! ✨️ ❤🫶
You’re welcome 😊
Does the bezel on the SNKL23 can be popped off too or is it just the snxs’s models only ?
When people are saying AMZWATCH is a better option for buying a watch,I very much agree!
Double dome it looks fantastic 👌
Dude, you are amazing! Like your style, cap and all. Big LIKE.
impeccably job I loved your reaction when you did realize it was done. I recommend you to get a watchmakers loupe just to better admire that small details on dial or even in the movement maybe in the future you dare to full service a watch. who knows?
7:30 now your watch is stronger than ever! Congratz
Thx for the video and the links from the description..it was very usefull.thx❤
I’m glad you oh took the plunge and fixed. I love my double dome glass, watch now looks more expensive it has any right to be 😂😂😂
Nicely done !! now I know how to proceed to change mine . Many thanks!
Ashley, a broken crystal can leave behind tiny parts of crystal on the dial and even worst, the tiny parts of crystal might make it into the movement. The watch probably needs a full service to get rid of all debris.
Glad you were able to fix such an important watch!
Hehe thanks!
Congrats on the MOD. Possible future modes can include a Fluted bezel and a jubilee bracelet
I like to see DIY stuff
It's great to see DIY stuff on tiny things (such a a watch)
I love to see DIY stuff on tiny things done by a girl!!!
This was fascinating to watch - thanks for sharing this!
So happy for you to get it fixed..😊
I like the dome, it’s so special to fix your wedding watch :)
Nice work. I am sure the double dome is an upgrade.
I also need to fix the glass my snxs78 this video very helpful to me 💯
Nicely done. It looks great!
Donuts are an excellent source of watch inspiration!
YESSSS! 🥯 not to mention, it’s comforting haha
Great job! The watch looks amazing!
nice repair! - my suggestion here is you should remove the movement in the back 1st before changing or removing the Bezel to protect the movement from any shuttered crystal debris. but anyways Congrats.
Thanks for the tip, yeah some commented about this too. Will take note of it, thank you again
Hello. Is your new crystal with a beveled edge or not?
It needs a bevel so the bezel will press it down.
Great job Ashley !!! Love your videos
Brava! Well done.
I love your acent and watch love 😊 Greetings from Croatia ❤
Great!!! Would have removed the movement first to be on the safe side. Have fun in the future with titanium cases, NH36 movements, after market dials and hands😂
Oh nooooooo 🤣🤣
As you are a Seiko fan, look for a Seiko manufactured in the month & year you were born in (by using the serial number) I finally found my birth watch after years of searching.
Interesting! Never thought about this
Please find it for me 07 05 1986
