Finding the right ticket price is likely key. I was fine paying $20/ticket per day to do my part to support AVP but when it started at $50 per day it was not going to happen along with travel costs. Glad you guys got comped for the meet and greets. Those looked awesome so I hope they continue next season. The vibe is different to be sitting in stands rather than wandering around floating all day between the beach and games but still a cool setting. People love watching beach volleyball but so many just do it for the olympics not realizing how accessible it is. How did CBS fair putting it on TV? I wonder what lessons pro players who were previously successful internationally but have come up short lately have taken away from these past few years: Is a new playing style required of them to hang with the world's best, leading to new partners, different techniques, also a different emphasis in their workout routines (more ball control and improvisational skills than ever)? Or is it even possible to anticipate the next new wave (after this ongoing option-play revolution) and prepare for that to gain an advantage by thinking yet another step ahead? These are certainly exciting times for these athletes and our sport.

Being honest, I feel like this convo didn’t throw any confidence in the Smash being in Final or winning the whole league which is kinda awesome and just goes to show how humble Geena is and that she and Toni have simply just had their heads down all regular AVP summer season (to qualify into league) and then heads down throughout league to help and do more than their part to help earn the title. Pretty awesome! Both of their teams grew on me over this last year. I got the chance to meet Toni last summer in Chicago (she coached me at the Flight School day camp) and then being a fan of Eric Beranek’s game I’ve always have kept an eye on Geena’s game as I started focusing more on shooting women’s games and learning about the women’s teams over the last year or so
