6th Generation Honda VFR 800 Staintune aftermarket Exhaust installation VS stock exhaust. 2002-2013
Thanks for watching our channel, in this video we install a Staintune aftermarket exhaust on my 2006 Honda VFR 800.I picked up this exhaust system used off of E-Bay, it sounds awesome!! I know the VFR800 has been discontinued but it is still a fantastic bike, this is actually my second 6th generation VFR. They are the best Sport Touring motorcycle that was ever made in my opinion.
Stay tuned for the sound comparison at the end of the video comparing stock with the Staintune!!
I should also add this exhaust has NO baffles installed and it sounds fantastic!!

    Could you not just join the existing pipe on the purge valve to the other side of the valve so it's doing nothing and perfectly sealed

    • @losttogether4ever
      @losttogether4ever 2 дня назад

      Yes you could, you'd also have to plug the inlets on the throttle bodies as well as reroute the overflow line coming from the gas tank.

    The output shaft that the sprocket is attached to is a different size on the Super Meteor 650 so will need a different sprocket to the Interceptor / Continental GT. Edit: it's not105 N-m for the sprocket nut it's 145 N-m, 107 ft-lb is correct.

    Just performed the adjustment after 9000 km and 2 years over ownership. Exhaust valves were a pinch tight so only minor adjustment required. I replaced the rocker cover gasket and the o-ring seals for the four bolts. Put a little bit of black gasket sealant on the semicircle engine side. Placed the new gasket on the rocker cover before maneuvering it carefully over the engine. I practiced the movement a few times without the gasket in place. I also turned the engine so that the valves were lower to increase clearance. I made sure I wasn’t hungry and grumpy before doing this as everyone has said how tricky it can be. I got my someone to help and it went on in one go. No problems at all. Sorry to say but it was a piece of cake. All the videos etc helped so thank you to you.

    • @losttogether4ever
      @losttogether4ever Месяц назад

      Yes absolutely, both stands can be used, when I park I usually put the side stand down, then get off the bike with it on the side stand, then with my left hand on the handle bar and right hand on the frame close to the rear shock, step on the centre stand and with your weight on the stand and while lifting the rear frame pop the bike on the centre stand. Maybe I should make a video showing the proper technique?

    Thanks for the video, I also noticed your axle is fed in from the RHS. Like you I don't see how it would make any difference; however I believe it would be easier to refit the wheel that way as you can line up the adjuster, brake arm, spacer and then enter the wheel itself. I find it a real pain to do from the LHS as the spacer falls out etc... however I haven't risked changing direction but if you've covered many miles without incident then I guess it's OK. Finally I saw a comment from ridinghightidesindia6847 regarding a lock mechanism, not sure what was meant. Can you explain please?

    • @losttogether4ever
      @losttogether4ever Месяц назад

      Yes I'm not sure what he meant by that comment, I've looked on parts diagrams and can't see anything that looks like a locking mechanism. I've had my axle inserted from the right side this whole riding season and there's no difference. I probably did it absentmindedly when changing the rear wheel. I'm left handed so I probablt grabbed the axle with my right hand and the nut with my left. As long as it's tightened to torque it's good to go!!

    • @losttogether4ever
      @losttogether4ever Месяц назад

      Honestly I haven't looked back at all, the 16 tooth works great for me, most of my riding is 80-100 kph secondary roads the 16 tooth drops the revs just enough that the engine purrs along nicely. If most of my riding was in the city with lower speeds I think the 15 tooth would be better. Thanks for being a part of our channel!

    I managed to remove the purge valve from the LHS of the bike, with only removing the cartridge and side cover and using two sets of 300 mm long nose pliers. After removing the cartridge,if you follow the tube from the cartridge to purge valve you can pull valve off it tab , access with pliers above sprocket cover and in below air filter. I removed tube that goes to manifold, then the electrical connection and then pulled the purge valve out in space above the rocker cover. No need to remove, battery, battery box, rear fender guard, sprocket cover. But you must have two sets of 300mm long nose pliers

    Clearest video I've seen of this, good camera work. Not worrying about OCD, I'm just going to pull off the vent to the tank and leave it as an overflow drain, remove the cannister. Then cut a length of the original pipe from the throttle bodies and join the two inlets together, retaining the connection that does no harm from new. Simples, only the tank off, and no skinned knuckles.

    Hi, an exhaustive and good video about the conversion process. I have a question: after the whole process of sealing the rim, is it mandatory to mount a tubeless tire on the rim? Or can you use a "normal" tire only without the inner tube?

    • @losttogether4ever
      @losttogether4ever 3 месяца назад

      As I understand it you should, some will say you must use a tubeless compatible tire, tubeless tires have a lip by the bead that seals to the rim. Without this seal your tire may not seal proprerly if you are using a "normal" Tube type tire. That being said the vast majority of modern tires made are Tubeless compatible. The stock tyres on our Enfields are Tubeless type Tyres.

    • @MrCyfriend
      @MrCyfriend 3 месяца назад

      You can always use a tubeless tire on a tubed rim but NOT THE OPPOSITE. You should never use a tubed (not tubeless) tire on a tubeless rim.

    This is beyond stupid. If you remove this you will get a stick of vented fuel on a warm day and fuel vapor filling your garage. This is toxic to breathe. It has nothing to do with greenhouses gases and Leftists running your life, because the vapor is not burned. I guess some people can't fill a fuel tank. Enjoy stinking of fuel.

    • @losttogether4ever
      @losttogether4ever 3 месяца назад

      Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I removed my evap system last year, my canister was soaked with fuel, yes I probably overfilled the tank hoping to squeeze as much distance between fill ups as possible. I also experienced intermittent rough running which I think was as a result of raw fuel being routed into the intake by the evap control solenoid. I ride all season and even when the temperatures hit 40C I don't get any fuel out of my tank as long as it isn't parked totally full. I don't think you really understand how the system works. If as you say the evap system has nothing to do with reducing greenhouse gasses what do you think it is there for?

    hello from Madrid, did you have to map the Ecu, or does the Ecu recognize the removal of the system. Thank you very much A greeting

    • @losttogether4ever
      @losttogether4ever 3 месяца назад

      No remapping needed, the air injection system is a passive system and injects air post combustion, the solenoid will continue to function as if it was purging only there is no air or vapors to be injected. I'm not sure if you have emissions inspection in Spain, if you do, this mod may affect your emissions. Thanks for being a part of our channel!!

      @@losttogether4ever Hi, thanks for your reply. In Spain there is an inspection. But if it is not necessary to map, in principle there should not be any problems, I would check it with a diagnostic machine. When I cancel it and do the test I will let you know. For now I am going to replace the exhaust elbows to cancel the catalytic converter on the elbows. Thanks Regards

    All beer bottle engineers :) be aware - you will be getting water droplets in your engine in the case of a heavy rain and high rpm / speed, as well as violating your warranty. The snorkel is designed to stop water droplets getting into the air intake. I will use the original cover and the DNA filter instead. DNA filters are soaked with oil what is an excellent water repellent to keep mist / droplets out.

    • @losttogether4ever
      @losttogether4ever 3 месяца назад

      I both agree and disagree with you, the snokel size and direction is designed to allow the specific volume of air to flow into the engine coupled with the size of throtttle bodies, combustion chambers and exhaust all being stock and restrictive in order to make a set amount of power and keep emissions withing the design parameters. When you change the exhaust to free flowing the only way to achieve a benefit is to open up the intake to allow more air in. The stock snorkel is a choke point. The side covers provide an amount of protection from splashes or large droplets of water from entering in to engine. My dealership advised me that replacing the snorkel cover would not void the warranty, most dealerships will gladly sell you the DNA filter and an exhaust system with no impact on your warranty.

      @@losttogether4ever I don't care if people agree, it's their engine to reck, free country. As engineer however, I can tell that the snorkel design is not to restrict air (aprox. 40L per second can go quite easy thought that hole), but to suck the air from back/down direction e.g. the direction from where the water drops won't be able to enter as they need to turn 180 to enter the snorkel.

    Hello… My INT650 is showing some weird problem. I recently changed my airfilter to bmc. And idl it for 15 min. I’m using stock exhaust. And then I ridden it for few kms and then got a full tank fuel on it after riding it for 40km it shows some missing issues. After that ride next day I took INT for a ride and after 7km missing started and after 12km it’s getting worse. After that I cleaned O2 sensor and give it a try after that it shows missing after 20km, fuel pump and spark plugs are new. Any solution for this.

    • @losttogether4ever
      @losttogether4ever 4 месяца назад

      The first thing I would do is put some fresh gas in it, is it possible that your gas may be contaminated, if that isn't the issue I'd then check all your electrical connections as well as your fuel line connectors, mine once ran intermittently bad and I traced the issue to a fuel line connector that wasn't totally seated, once I pressed it together I heard a click. The loose connector was allowing air to enter the fuel system causing some mis-firing once it was warm. Reading that you have had a new fuel pump makes me think this could be your issue. Let us know how you make out, thanks for being a part of our channel.

    Hi Im in the process of removing the EVAP canister from my 650 CGT in the UK .I was wondering if having blanked off the ports on the EVAP valve if it caused pressure build up and overloads the valve and cause a problem and cause an issue with the ECU ie creating an error code, just a thought as its not a straight forward getting to the valve?

    • @losttogether4ever
      @losttogether4ever 4 месяца назад

      I haven't had any faults with my ECU, as long as everything is capped off properly and the tank vent is open to the atmosphere there should not be any pressure building up. The valve will continue to open and close normally it just won't route any fumes anywhere.

    Just waiting for TEC USA to have their new batch of stingers to clear customs. Anxious to get mine shipped to me. Liked your videos. I recently added single seat and cowl…custom painted to match my tank. Currently have TEC’s mufflers, but anxious to get the shorter, lighter Stinger. BTW 7 lbs., reduced, equals 1 HP gained…as a general rule. Your 650 is probably over 50-55 hp. With toothed mods

    Another excellent helper video. I've also used Plastic Dip SPRAY to protect against tool scratches by spraying the box end of the spanner or the edges of a deep socket... Just an alternative to electric tape. (The CANS of liquid Plastic Dip apply too much material to the tool.) Still mustering the energy to go after the tubless tire project. 😇

      I would check for a vacuum leak, or an exhaust leak. You may have accidentally swapped a tank vent for an evap line or like me I had one header pipe not sealed against the head causing me grief for a few months as I changed out sensors to try and track down my issue. The idle should be smooth if everything is tightly sealed. Let us know how it goes!

    With all my yrs of technical engineering i am pretty positive that the stock intake components are Totally sufficient for this stock engine' even with any free flowing Exhaust! The exhaust choices can and will change torque ranges in certain RPM ranges. Which in most cases stock configuration will give you best Top End.
