I have the Hitchcock chain adjusters ready to fit on my GT650. I also intend to eliminate the evap system and relocate my regulator/rectifier to the front of the bike. As the riding season in Calgary is so short, I’ll save these mods for the winter months.
I had these adjusters but they have a design flaw, when you tighten the back axle these flip flop around inside the swing arm and the alignment marks on the adjusters are skewed which is not ideal when tightening the chain equally on both sides. This is because they have not been fabricated like the old ones which lock them in position better thus stopping them moving around. I ended up putting my original ones back. I also found the adjustment screws constantly come loose as they don’t lock with a double nut like the original ones.
Thats interesting and I'll keep an eye on them. They seem to fit as snugly inside the swing arm as the stock ones do. I'm hoping that the loc-tite will solve the loosening issue. I'm not sure if Meteor 350 owners have similar issues.
Hi was just looking at these on Hitchcock's site for the interceptor. I think they look so much better. Would you say it makes adjusting the chain easier with the new ones? Thanks for posting!
Thanks for another great video. Like many of us, I'm running out of mods to play with. I started with a 2022 Sunset Int650, and my major mods have been swapping to an Ice Queen tank, single seat, Renthal ultra low bars and TEC 2-1 exhaust. Tons of other minor mods, including a lot of weight reductions like removing the center stand, etc. I removed some of the chain tensioner ugliness by replacing the second nut with a coupling nut. Mostly to protect the threads. Here are a couple questions/video ideas. I don't have any problems with my front suspension, but I'm curious how much better it could be if upgraded some of the internals. I know I can add preload adjusters, but I haven't researched what that would actually do for me. Similarly, I don't have problems with my brakes but I'm curious how much better they could be if I upgraded them.
Thanks for watching and being a part of our channel, I was thinking about tackling the suspension but I haven't seen or read anyone making significant gains by changing out the rear shocks or fork internals. Most people that do any upgrades report marginal gains. New brake pads are a significant improvement for relativly little expense.
Thanks for the video, I also noticed your axle is fed in from the RHS. Like you I don't see how it would make any difference; however I believe it would be easier to refit the wheel that way as you can line up the adjuster, brake arm, spacer and then enter the wheel itself. I find it a real pain to do from the LHS as the spacer falls out etc... however I haven't risked changing direction but if you've covered many miles without incident then I guess it's OK. Finally I saw a comment from ridinghightidesindia6847 regarding a lock mechanism, not sure what was meant. Can you explain please?
Yes I'm not sure what he meant by that comment, I've looked on parts diagrams and can't see anything that looks like a locking mechanism. I've had my axle inserted from the right side this whole riding season and there's no difference. I probably did it absentmindedly when changing the rear wheel. I'm left handed so I probablt grabbed the axle with my right hand and the nut with my left. As long as it's tightened to torque it's good to go!!
Ha Ha, You're right, thats the way it came from my dealership thanks for pointing it out, not sure it makes a difference but next time I have the rear wheel off I'll swap it around!! Good eyes guys!!
I just ordered a pair, thanks for taking the risking, doing the experiment and sharing your results
You're welcome!! Thanks for being a part of our channel!
They do look a lot more tidier than the stock ones, well presented channel 👍
Thanks Tony!! We're happy to have your support!

Thanks again for another great video! I just ordered my new chain adjuster on Ebay.
Awesome!! Thanks for being a part of our channel!

I think it makes the fine adjustments a bit easier but it's mainly the looks, you still have to rely on the stamped markings on the swing arm.

@@losttogether4ever thanks for the advice!

The adjusters on my 2022 are not numbered. I’ll have to order a set. Thanks
Nice bike
Thanks!! Thanks for watching!
Nice, you are inserting axle from wrong side
I noticed that too. Not sure if that’s a problem though.

@@losttogether4ever there should be lock mechanism in left sleeve so from where axle worn travel further inside. Change it when you get time.
Cheers 🥂
I'm not sure what you mean there is no locking mechanism inside the left swing arm sleeve. Can you link to a parts diagram?
