    Bit macabre but is it likely that the Swallow will survive? Can't imagine it's well suited to the weather and insect food must be very hard to come by at this time of the year

    Hi, again. Is the Blackbird in your area a subspecies of the Chinese Blackbird ?

  • @markshen3280

    Good Morning to Beth of you from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. Due to my recent search on several web sources, I have come across several information sources indicating that the Great Tit, the Cinerious Tit and the Japanese Tit all belong to the ONE AND ONE SINGLE species, and that if / when / unless / until ornithology taxonomists determine through DNA 🧬 Testing these birds are separate subspecies of each other. But for now, they are being “clumped together” as one single species. The same situation holds true, according to bird experts, bird enthusiasts, and ornithologists, that the following birds : White Wagtail, Pied Wagtail , and the Japanese Wagtail, as well as the Japanese White-eye (Warbling White-eye), Swinhoe’s White-eye, Asian White-eye, and Indian White-eye, are all “clumped together” as one species regardless of their songs, and plumage colours.

    So interesting to hear about what's locally scarce! We have Green Woodpeckers living in a tree cavity in our garden so we see them almost every day, but I never see them around on actual reserves!

  • @daveh1294
    @daveh1294 6 дней назад

    There's loads of green woodpeckers here in the South Wales Valleys. I think ants do well on the old mining spoil sites so there are plenty of ant hills for them to feed on. If they're about you can usually hear them from a long distance away as they're pretty noisy.

    So happy you got the Red-rumped Swallow (and good footage too!). Well spotted with the Green-winged Teal. Green Woodpecker is a nemesis bird for me too (at least as a camera tick). I tried Dunham Massey a couple of times but in spite of hearing one, I didn't manage a sighting, in spite of it being supposedly a great site for that species.

    That was great, well done both of you! Hopefully the first of many! A great couple with admirable ethics! Your channel is always so enjoyable, sharing the thrills of the finding and filming the target bird and also the disappointments of those that get away. (usually only temporarily!) Good luck with all your future dreams, plans and the birds on your wish lists. Don't start back too soon Nigel, health and family first! It was also good to see what equipment you use. I usually travel light with my Nikon ED50 scope.
