Looks really fun. I just got the demo installing rn. So, just to be clear, you can also play this single player for the whole game, even though it's built with co-op in mind?

i really liked this game yes the puzzles were more on the easy side but i figured this was geared more towards a younger audience and more of an interactive story than a true puzzle game

Just wondering, I had frame drops in some parts such as during the large predator fights. Was this just me or was this common, also the frame drops during the “doors” were a big hint that they were loading screens.

does the game support DLSS and how does it run on a low/midrange PC (RTX 3060) or Laptop (RTX 3070). This is very important to know, since not every VR player does have a high end gaming PC.

I really love walking around the spaceship in between battles. I;m so glad they added that in.

They need to tone down the monster spawns. It is out of control.

This game looks really good. It’s amazing how a 4 person dev team can produce a game of this quality with very little bugs compared to AAA studios who release bug infested games. Kudo to the devs. Great review too!

Great review as always @bmackVR ! I agree with you on most topic covered as this game is phenomenal. I’m usually not a fan of full body, as it feels unnatural in VR IMO. But the way this character is designed, the story and how smooth everything performs, with actual Valve Index support, and tons of in game adjustments possible within settings, I’d go as far to say it feels better than Batman. And on top of respawning enemies, the items around the map will also respawn. To a degree where it feels almost unfair, even when the game is super hard. Arken Age does so many things extremely well. It’s hard to believe that this is made from a four person team with how smooth, stunning and overall polished. The game engine is insanely well put together! It’s very rare that I can run a VR game at maximum resolution on my Pimax Crystal (4312x5100 per eye), on max in game graphical settings, while maintaining a smooth 90Hz all while [live streaming.](twitch.tv/farmertrue) Even with a 4090. Especially brand new titles on launch! CPU frametimes stay around 2ms with a last gen non-X3D CPU and even during new areas the game is like butter melting on a stack of hot pancakes. And did I mention this game engine is a custom made engine that was made by only 2 of the 4 from the dev team?! That is so wild! The game has some of the best implementations on several aspects in all of VR. - 1) Climbing. Especially for an action title. The mechanics to bring out your pick aces just works and is very natural. Plus it feels so bad ass. You’re not struggling to reach the top of a tree but in fact gliding your way to the top, bottom, and side to side. - 2) Explaining how to play the game. That tutorial was not only informative, but it also *showed* you how to do everything, gave you options to go back if you weren’t paying attention, showed you where to go, explained it in written as well, made you do the action you are learning and where most tutorials you are rushing to get through, it was actually enjoyable. - 3) The level designs, environment & rewarding exploration. The game is lushes and vibrant. But it’s also quite large with tons of areas to explore. I’m one that goes everywhere in a VR title to explore and see what boundaries I am able to push. But even I was being blown away from hidden areas or items within the map. Some taking a long time to actually come across. The level designs are extravagant! - 4) Adjustments made in settings. Like I mentioned full body can feel off in VR games. But the amount of settings you can change, make it one of the best, if not the best, of all VR. It felt better than Batman, which tends to be one that people consider gold standard IMO. But also the controls. With a huge variety of controls in VR, this game allows you to get them dialed in more so than almost any other title out there. These people are truly gifted and I really hope the VR community supports this game because not only is it a lot of fun, but it’s unique, visually stunning, has a lengthy campaign, has tons of adjustments in setting, does an amazing job with explanations and the tutorial, rewards exploration and performance is second to none. I for one can’t wait to keep playing.

Did you try RE7 with the PSVR2 yet? It makes dark games look so good even though it doesn't use HDR. I hope they do add it to the headset on PCVR soon.

So far, I honestly think the quality of this game is better than behemoth.

"close one eye to enable the scope" that's really clever. Makes me wish my PSVR 2 that I've used for 5 freaking hours WORKED! F U IN THE A SONY and your garbage warranty! (They replace your faulty PSVR2+controllers with someone else's used "repaired" PSVR2+controllers) Thus, when I look down the head set loses tracking, the controllers drift all over, annnnd the battery works for about 20 min.

absolute gem of a game, would have been my VR game of the year if it came out in 2024.

Hey, Came to the channel via Reddit. +1 subscriber for PSVR2 content. Video is really good and your voice over is top notch. I'm going to nit-pick here, but I would also have liked to see a shorter version of the video. I appreciate how in depth it is, but it also requires 20 minutes of commitment that we don't always have available. I think this is great for an extended review! A shorter format with the great, good vs bad/awful would also be great.

This is one reason to get a ps5 any one it has ps5 pro mode or a reason to get pc if you play on a meta quest

I love how level are like small open worlds. They have the exploration of open worlds but not the boring "lots wide areas of nothing" that usually come with them. So much better than the very linear levels we usually get in VR. Wonder how complex the levels get, the game is supposed to be between 12 and 15 hours long so there must be a lot of them.
