ONE STICK CLIMBING - Innovating the Outdoors Ohm Tether Locker Flexi QUICK TIP
Been rock climbing for 15 years and saddle hunting for 8. The twist in that knot has got to go! They are literally deadly. Those twists make it to where that rope has half the fall rating. You take a spill, you put triple.your body weight on those ropes and knots. They will snap and you will fall.
Thx for stopping in! Good luck!
@platinumpursuitoutdoors Great video and the tender is amazing.
@@augmentedwolf Thank you!
Very very nice set up.
Thx
Awesome video and tutorial. You should be a JX3 representative or spokesman for John. You have such knowledge of this system. I have one and love it. But you have given me much more needed information. Thanks. The Lord bless you my friend.
@@sds205t hey, thanks for the feedback! Good luck to you this year.
Very good suggestion.I have a JX3. Thanks
Sweet!!
How are you still liking the JX3. I love mine but man its heavy. Just ordered a phantom for the hot days.
@@JohnGreyman it does have some weight, but it carries very nicely.
About the scaffold knot, I have tried to tie it incorrectly. And I still can't figure out how that is possible. If you use the tag end to do your wraps and feed the tag and through the wraps, it seems impossible to tie it incorrectly. Am I incorrect about this?
@@TrappingTheMitten-JohnHowell yes that what I demonstrated in the video. I show the right and wrong way to do it. Good luck!!
Well, it's the end of 2024 and I paid $238.72 for 3 sticks and 2 Amsteel aiders shipped. Thank you Latitude for this great black Friday deal. I will put some hockey tape on these to quiet them, hold them together with a silicone cable tie and strap them to my backpack with my saddle stand. Im looking forward to putting these to work in 2025.
I appreciate your content. For this knot, I would leave a longer tag end in order to tie a figure 8 or overhand knot as a stopper knot. If the main knot slips the stopper will back up to the main and stop it from coming out. This does not change the fact you need to tie the scaffold knot correctly, it is another level of safety. Hunting is fun, Going home to family is Funner!!
@@EssentialOutdoors thanks for stopping in and good luck!! I think this is what too many people misunderstand about this knot. Watch the videos that I posted of professional climbers tying it. Because the main line is what’s pulling on itself there’s no need for the back up. Figure 8 or stop or not. The tail end does not move at all. When this knot is tied correctly, you cannot pull the tail end thru. They even test this on the videos that I posted in the description.
My only issue with tge saddle, is it doesnt come with any carabiners, even when ordering the tether and lineman rope, they only came with one carabiner. the stuff is pricey, but I'm excited to use the saddle.
Thanks ! What a difference. Awesome....
@@willeypoboy5607 good luck!
My god bud
Yeah? Lol
Will these work if you put stealth strips on?
@@brobinson1022 yes, I put stealth strips on mine.
how do you put on your heavy clothes up in the tree?
For your jacket you can take off the shoulder straps and put on your coat. If you wanna put bibs on. You can simply undo your waist strap and leg straps and then slide your bibs on and work your way up. It’s recommended to put the bibs on while you’re on the ground.
It would have been good to see you carry a stick up while wearing the JX3 hybrid saddle. Just throwing it over the shoulder with the saddle on your back isn't as simple as it sounds due to the shape of the pack frame.
@@DAMITBANDIT that’s a good point and I wish I would’ve thought of that doing the review.
They should use a different material and it would be awesome like carbon fiber super strong and add aluminum teeth
@@andrewanderson6683 good thought
Great job explaining this saddle. I bought one and became a little frustrated, but your video is the best i have seen yet keep it coming. Thanks
Thank you for the feedback!
@@platinumpursuitoutdoorsDear sir.what is the little pack I need to get one .Thanks again.Robert.
The JX3 versa pack system
always tie a safety knot to finish off any load bearing knot so i would go 24 inches to give room for a simple overhand knot safety knot on the tag end.
I would agree in most circumstances, however with this knot watch the related videos I tagged.
You might find some inspiration in watching lineman or arborists climbing trees and polls, your feet should be driving you up while your hands are more of a progress capture. As long as the feet slip it’d be hard to use this for anything more than an arm workout
I have the Beast sticks but want to use this aider on the Tethrd One sticks. My concern is using this aider on the Tethrd One sticks safely. Any tips you can suggest? Or should I stick with the Beast sticks? I'm new to all of this.
I wouldn’t recommend using this versa aider on the new one sticks. The dyna lock tab wasn’t built for it. I would sell the Beast and pick up a set of One sticks (save yourself 1lbs per stick). Then use the GC-one from back woods mobile gear.
@@platinumpursuitoutdoors I already have the Tethrd One sticks as well. That's why I asked the question. This aider doesn't seem to fit them like they fit sticks with versa buttons. My buddy uses them on his Tehtrd Skeletors but its not a smooth operation and I don't wanna take a stupid risk cause I'm new at all this. That's why I wanted more feedback.
My headrest came with a bungee cord. It sux. I guess I need to upgrade mine to the new style.
Understand! Good luck
How high can you get with 3 sticks and a 2 step aider? Why aren't these available in a 4 stick set?
I would prob 12-14’ with that combo. Now if its a movable aider a few feet higher.
They actually are available in a 4 stick set.
Nice video - much better than several others that I have seen!!
Hey thx for stopping in! Good luck.
I bought one using your discount code. Appreciate the video.
Thx!! Good luck!
Guiedo’s Webb!
The stitching came apart on mine on the first sit. Strap fell off on 3rd. One is sewn different from the other, makes buckle almost unusable. Waiting for a reply from lattitude.

$150 is wild
Another gadget that’s not needed! The amsteel crisscrossed around all the sticks is more than enough!
That backpack is nice but not worth $350
Best video on RUclips covering this hybrid. You sold them one more
@@Yelladog78 thanks for the kindness!
Get 3 step aids from them as well and now they are 34" each!
I made a couple of these for almost nothing. I used small plastic buckles instead of the 'fancy' titanium quick release but it does the same thing. Mine are not braided and as 'OEM' looking as these but the deer don't seem to mind. LOL Still a great design and very useful.
Sweet!
I had a 4 step made. It’s great and I’m on my second year with it. Highly recommend.
Nice!!
Thank you for the really informative video. Do you leave the backpack hooked to the backside of the JX3 when you ascend or do you pull it up with a rope? I would be worried that if I try to take off the backpack by reaching behind me it might fall off to the ground. Thanks!
You can do it either way. With the gear tie it becomes easier to attach and take off. I repel so I generally pull everything up once I’m in the tree stand.
When I put my backpack on my JX3 I use a 2’ peace of light strap and hook it to the JX3 with a carabiner just in case I drop it when removing it
How do you retrieve your rappel rope?
I use a smaller diameter rope that attaches to the rappel line. When I get to the base of the tree, I pull it down.
Ok, great but what is it
I’m 6’2” 280lbs and these sticks are great. Foot room is a little tight but not uncomfortable. I would recommend just for the price alone. Super light and bite the tree good.
Thx for stopping in!
I just used it for the first time tonight... I was going to DIY it, but I figured after all the trial and error, I would just wish I had bought it. I got it on sale, so why not. I didn't even notice I was using it this afternoon. It didn't get in the way or anything. I DID notice when I removed it to climb down, how my saddle compressed/squeezed onto my hips.. This thing WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!
Sweet!
Schimmel Keys
Very helpful, thank you for posting, worked perfectly. Good luck this season.
Thanks for stopping in and good luck to you!
Great demonstration. This really helped a lot. Keep the videos coming.
Thx man!!
Just returned to this video after a full season of not using my MADROCK. Great to have that extra confidence; thank you PPO for concise review of just what I needed👍
Nice man!! Thx for stopping in and GOOD LUCK!
This truly is the best How To video! I bought an Amsteel Triad Bridge that arrives tomorrow and was clueless on exactly how I would need to install it. This was so descriptive and showed every step so precisely I feel very confident I can replicate while watching the video and installing my new bridge tomorrow! 😁 Thank you!!! I really like that style of bridge better as well!! The saddle kit I bought gave me a lineman, tether, and a 3rd rope to use as the “bridge” which to be any sort of comfortable I would have to cut down and melt the end off to shorten I don’t like the idea of that and would rather just save it to use if I need to replace my tether or lineman. So thank you thank you!!
Thx for stopping in!! Good luck to you, sir!
Great job, no one addressed this …. I agree with the length. Absolutely no need for 40 feet, 30 “net” is just right for me.
Yes sir!
@@platinumpursuitoutdoors can I ask what rope you use to rappel?
@joec33 I use the Canyon Elite and Canyon C-IV. The C-IV is a stiffer rope.
Ok cool, thanks
What about removing the tree fork until you get to the spot you're going to be and then putting it back in place?
The tree fork has a bolt and nut on the backside that keeps it from falling out.
Those vids without intros... the ones that cut the music and b.s. Those are great
I appreciate the feedback. I dropped the intro probably a year and a half ago I believe.
Thanks for the feedback, I dropped the intro about a year and a half ago I believe.
What is the weight of these new gen 2 ? are they bulkier than the Tethrd ? I was trying to compare them to the Tethrd knee pads. Thanks !
@@barrymartin6260 I’m not too sure to be honest. When I get home I can weigh them
@@platinumpursuitoutdoors Thank You I appreciate that ! If you had to pick tethrd or latitude which would you pic and why ? Do either of them bother you behind the knee at the joint as in bunching up or the strap pinching there ?
@barrymartin6260 man, that’s a good question! The biggest thing about tethered kneepads are they have that thermoplastic outer. which basically makes it bomb proof against any aggressive bark, however, they do have a tendency to rock back-and-forth, whereas the latitude knee pads do not. I have not been able to hunt with the new latitude kneepads, but if they added the foam, they said they did then, that should help a lot in regards to aggressive bark.
@@platinumpursuitoutdoors did you happen to get a weight on the Latitude yet (new ones) Are they bulky on you and what about the straps as I mentioned above ? ?
This was a VERY in depth review of the X wing. I’ve hated the idea of ROS, but seeing it with this platform really changed my mind. What concerned me the most was if you could shoot 6 o’clock on this. I didn’t think you could with how small the actually foot platform is but you proved me wrong! To you and anyone that use this, I wear a size 12 boot, is this too small for someone like me? And how does it feel for all day sits with sitting/leaning?
Hey thx for the feedback. I have size 10 crispy Nevada GTX. I’m not sure about that. But with a ROS, you could easily maneuver around the tree.
Great idea
