Like yourself, I got into rappelling before the Ohm was available. I tried the gear tie, the rubber washer, and even 3D printed something that looked like a big Y before the Ohm came out. I bought two of the flexible Ohms a couple of months ago to try out this coming season. I was lucky enough to be able to loosen the knot enough to get the Ohm's rope through and attached it in the same location. Otherwise I was thinking of just girth hitching it around the oval link. Great video as always!
I girth hitch the Flexi ohm around itself, making a loop, which then only tightens down around the rappel rope. it won't move at all after that. Regarding your quick link - I had the delta, then tried the oval but the oval was much harder to retrieve out of the tree unless you back away from the tree 5+ feet, which isn't always possible in all set ups. I went back to the delta and it retrieves easier.
Which side of the quick link did you girth hitch the ohm to the scaffold knot? If you tie it to the tag end side, could it loosen the knot when pulling it out of the tree?
Basically I tied it in-between the main line and the quick link. From my experience with the scaffold knot, even if you tied it to the tail end, there is absolutely no way you could pull that out! You basically have to cut this not once it is seated with pressure.
@@platinumpursuitoutdoors there’s a loop at the end of the am steel that’s attached to the tether locker.could you just loop it on to the quick link?that’s what I did but I haven’t tried it out yet
@randyblankenship2115 Im sure you can,but one thing I did find out is when I tied the quick link to the knot itself instead of girth hitching it behind the know it seemed like it bound harder when trying to pull it out of the tree.
Instead of using the flexi and quick link with scaffold knot as you all seem to be doing, why not use the running bowline knot. It's just as quick to tie and untie as as using a quick link. and don't have to have something like flexi to hold quick link from falling down tree. The running bowline will say in place.
No. When tied right you the tail really has nothing to do with it. When tension is put on the rope the mainline pulls NOT the tail. I reference several videos on my scaffold knot video. That knot has been tied for 2 years and seen lots of sits and hasn’t budged.
Thank you for your info. 71-yrs young and want to learn one stick. SE PA Lancaster Co. so following and studying your method.
Nice good luck!! Thx for stopping in.
That's how I ran my Ohm as well but have recently changed my system. It works well with the quick link! 👍🏼

The canyon elite, ohm and madrock are a dynamite setup. This is my second year running that setup and will probably never change. Great tip as well!!
Nice! And thx.

I am going to have to keep an eye out for that! Good observation!
Good video, love those ohm tether lockers. Good idea on attachment point too. I just double girth hitch mine doesn't move, but I like your idea better
Nice
I’m all of this. I dig it.

@@platinumpursuitoutdoors Thanks great tip
Why are you switching from the delta link? It was my understanding the delta is best because of crossloading the link
No, I just wanted to try a new set. Both are completely safe and cross load rated.
Ok, great but what is it
This is my first year saddle hunting but hurricane Fiona came threw and knocked down all my prepped trees. Looks like I have more work to do.
Man hate that!! Good luck to you.
So why not just hook it to the quick link?im sure there’s a good reason that I don’t know about
What do you mean?

Your tail is too short on the knot.
