    I have a couple of older First Act guitars that are great guitars. One is a hollow body I think called a Delia. The other is kind of Telecaster-ish looking but with a big single coil in the neck and a splitable humbucker in the bridge. I think called a Sheena. Both pretty nice actually.

    Thought they would have put a bone nut on the player 2 but no, still the crap plastic nut. A bone nut is not a premium feature, they cost about £7. How can something that costs so little be classed as premium.

    Hey dont blow the fans like that and let them spin. Hold the blade then blow. You can send a reverse minor electric current back into it and possibly fuck your board up. Great video though dude. I keep a clean toothbrush I use the dig into the blades to loosen up dust then blow them out. you can take the three screws from the fan. Lift it up and clean under them and the little black filter thing that collects shit

    I actually really like these! It reminds me of my American Pro II Jaguar and some of the modifications/simplifications made to it. I like the single pickup switch and love the mustang saddles. The original jag/jazzmaster saddles are geometrically frustrating. The strings love popping out of their slots, and the saddle screws vibrate loose very easily because of the shallow break angle and low string pressure on the saddles.

  • @shckltnebay
    @shckltnebay 2 дня назад

    They moved the trem to increase the break angle, thats why some need a neck shim if youre going to use 9 gauge or lighter strings. I shimmed my Road worn JM neck although I use 10 gauge and it really helped

  • @mrbigdaveyb
    @mrbigdaveyb 2 дня назад

    In effect you've dampened your strings with the length of string at the back of the trem, you need to remove it and fit a roller bridge to stop string breakage

    it's a marketing strategy to push people who care about vintage accuracy into a vintera ii or into USA territory. I went the other way and got a demo squier cv for $350 which i will mod and upgrade, but I enjoy doing that kind of thing.

    Hey big Jake, i have some great news for you! They do in fact come the full size pots. However with excessive use can wear out quic and most times the taper of the tone and volume knobs isn't very precise and in turn giving you very limited adjustability. Im not sure if those are the original Epiphone pots or not but to be sure i would replace them with some quality Gibson pots wired the old Gibson way with some upgraded pickups. The ceramics are ok but alnico5's are way better especially when they are properly wax potted. Good video man and like you said no one really goes in depth on this model and im surprised because it's basically as close to a standard as you can get. "Minus the set neck" which honestly is more preference than anything else. I would live to see a video of upgrades if you haven't done one already.

    Everyone wants different things, but your argument is similar to why I'm not getting the Player II Jazzmaster. I'm a Fender/Squier fan and I have too many guitars already, but when I get something new I get it because it's different. The rosewood and JM pickups on the Player II are better than Player I, but why is the rhythm circuit missing? I want the weirdness of a Jazzmaster so it's different enough from my Strats, Teles, or even my cheap Affinity JM. I may pick up a Player II Tele, but my JM itch is probably gonna get scratched at the Classic Vibe level.

    I went into my local music store and I played every single telecaster on the rack from the $300 one to the $3000 custom shop and with the exception of three of them they were a write off. Fretwork was sloppy and rough to touch. Necks were shaped so so. Little resonance. Brutal

  • @Eternity909
    @Eternity909 6 дней назад

    6:28 The Classic Player line was a vaguely vintage accurate line NOT a modern reinterpretation like a the players. The Vibrato is closer to the Bridge because you’re able to set up on lighter strings easier and less need for shimming because you’ve got enough downward tension. Adjustable saddles suck on Jazzmasters and Jaguars. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. Too many moving parts and rattles all the time. If you want a vintage accurate Jaguar BUY A VINTAGE STYLE JAGUAR. Vintera I or II are both within a similar price range to this. You’ve completely missed the mark on this take. The point of this series is that it’s a simplified and more usable guitar for the modern player, not a classic vintage style guitar. Fender have been doing stuff like this with their lines for decades, look at the 90s. You could get a telecaster plus (hyper modern) or a telecaster AV52’ Reissue (accurate classic) for within a few hundred £s of each other. I like Jaguars. I’ve got 3 (AVRI62, JG66 and VM) that are my main guitars. All kept to vintage specs with a few mods here and there. However I also like the simplified look on the new Jaguar too, I feel like that’s a pretty common take?

  • @mfiles_official
    @mfiles_official 7 дней назад

    I get all your observation, but I think you are missing the point here .. This is not a jaguar for the purists, this a Modern Simplified Mexican line interpretation of a classic. If you and the more correct jaguar you have plenty of other models, Classic vibe / Vintera / American vintage... this one is a excuse off a offset to sell different new colours. Now the price point is over the top but hey if you have money like to pay for brand and colour some will get it, and the more nerd musicians will get a squier and mod the hell out of it and be happy.

  • @nunezgabriel98
    @nunezgabriel98 7 дней назад

    Fender is bullshit* Easily could make the best instruments at great price points but are only interested in riding nostalgia and pumping out horrible take down models that are overpriced. Epiphone has closed the gap with squire, PRS obliterated both epiphone and squire take down models, and Sire came into the bass scene by putting out high quality options that clear the fender “player” Models by a landslide. Only reason to go fender is if you have the money for an American made one. Its the only thing they make that actually reflects the price point

  • @giles3211
    @giles3211 7 дней назад

    the rhythm circuit is the most useless thing ever implemented in guitars. theres a reason no one uses it, only reason you and other people want it is for looks. the best jaguar fender makes is the johnny marr because it does away with all that useless garbage and gives you real tone options. you seem to own a lot of cheap crap guitars anyway so maybe stop buying crap that cuts corners and get a guitar with the features you want and you won't be so mad about it

  • @Paul_Lenard_Ewing
    @Paul_Lenard_Ewing 7 дней назад

    I don't get it. Either the guitar comes like it did on day one or anything is up for grabs. Including the things our host prefers which are totally one person's choice. I think his ideas are nuts. The bridge was moved because players on average like 09 and 10 gauge strings and the original was made to use 11's. If you use 9s or 10s and strum vigorously strings can fly right off the saddles in the middle of a tune on the original placement. Add to that many players use dirt sounds and that so call resonant chime can start to feedback with a very discordant ring. As for the switch on the upper plate hundreds of guys hate it. It is awkward to use and on dark stages it impossible to see. A toggle or blade switch can be quickly mastered in the dark. As for the colors they were chosen from from American Motors, GM and Ford's color choices in the 50's. So they are not new neither is the idea to use them. But like Sea Foam Green and Daphne Blue they too were rejected when new. The most uncool Fender to own was a Jag or Jazz when they were new. I know I'm 77 and was there in the shops at the time. If you bought one you would be endlessly verbally ridiculed by other players. FACT!!! Were they wrong?? No more wrong than our host about what makes a great guitar. For a young guy he thinks older than me WTF!!

    yes you have a point because Fender made a guitar that Jaguar fans don't want, but honestly you are overreacting a bit, yeah at that price point there is no accurate Jaguar and that sucks but if you spend a bit more there is the Vintera or the Kurt Cobain models and at a lower price point you have the Classic Vibe. you have 20+ guitars behind you (assuming that they are yours and you don't work as a tech) just sell a couple and get a vintera or a Kurt Cobain model maybe the only issue with fender is that they don't offer higher end Jaguar models, and I would criticize that, but at the price point you are complaining about there are accurate Jaguar guitars not far off people on the internet are right some guitarists can be obnoxious on the smallest details that really don't matter when it comes to playing music. this is an instrument not a fashion trend

    I love the fender jag, it's my second favorite guitar to the Strat, but seriously there is like no good new jaguar options right now. Im not super fond of the vintera ii jaguars, color and maple board is not very jaguar-y to me, and the player series seems like the bare minimum of what a jaguar is. I was super bummed that they never released an American vintage ii jaguar, that would have been awesome.

    I really think it might be due to the position of the pickup. I like to build and I’ve heard the difference that positioning can make. The further the bridge gets towards a more middle position, the more potential for weirdness imo. Tends to get ‘quacky’. I know that quack is not the sound you are getting…atleast not from what I can tell from the the video. Is the excessively muffled sound more apparent on the bass side? Anyway, it may be an idea to try 1000 meg pots?

    Hey dude! I appreciate your passion for offsets! But I just wanted to kindly point out a few things. You neglected to mention the Vintera II Jaguar which can be had used for about $900ish. The trem placement being closer to the bridge makes no tonal difference, Mike Adams has a video where he did a test and found no tonal difference. The closer trem provides a better break angle and reduces the need to shim the neck. the lead circuit is essentially a 1 meg 3 way switch with the strangle switch. The Player 2 just has the 1 meg pots. I can say I was super skeptical about the player II Jaguar prior to playing one. In short, it sounds awesome. To answer your question who is this for? I think this is for the causal fan or a person who wants their first offset but doesn’t care for the switches. Which believe it or not, is quite a few people. Oddly enough, The original Player Series Jaguar has been the best selling Jaguar in the fender line up for the past few years…and that’s including the squiers. Overall the Player Series isn’t intended to be vintage accurate, for that we have the Vintera. But considering the new affinity Jaguar that was announced a few weeks back. There’s symmetry between the line ups Affinity = Player II = American Performer Classic vibe = Vintera II = American Vintage II Contemporary = American Professional Player Plus = American Ultra Anyways, I enjoyed the video! Cheers! 🙏🏾
