you make a point, but as long as people are willing go buy chibsons and any other knock off,(ie. demon fx) they will always be a market. don't forget some who are duped into buying a chibson as a real Gibson. Like a year ago the Bugera1960 could be bought for around 300. Because RUclipsrs it now sells for 1400. there is always someone who will exploit the system for a profit.
Buying a Chibson is a lottery where you hope yours is made by an employee of the factory that makes epiphones. A chance so low that buying it is disrespectful to your wallet. Buying a new Gibson is disrespectful to the American economy because they are a multinational company controlled by hedge funds/ VC groups. They’re in the business of taking your money for the logo, not in the business of making a high quality product. They also have been busy killing too many American companies that have brought innovative exciting products to the music industry. I wouldn’t give them my money. So go buy a USED Gibson/Epiphone. Or a made in China BadCat/Wolf/Aio. If you want better quality, go with Heritage. Or if you want custom shop level premium quality, get an Eastman -Chinese made extremely high quality LP copy, better QC than Gibson USA. Finally, when you’re tired of faulty guitar designs and you want a guitar that is consistent, reliable and stays in tune without structural and design defects, get a PRS SE-and support an company that is actually American where the founder is the CEO and only cares about selling high quality products at every price point. Nuff said.
The biggest problem is there's gona be so much of these pieces of sh$& when we're all dead and gone and some one is gona get royally screwed thinking there buying the real thing its terrible, just take 100 bucks to a pawn shop and get you a good mod platform
I got a Chibanez RG off of ebay once... legit RG body, Chinese knockoff "Prestige" Ibanez logo on the headstock/neck... neck stuck out too far and ate into the neck pickup windings... 🤦♂️
chibsons never have the correct knob spacing and placements, and the other giveaway at a quick first glance is that they all come with epiphone sized pickup rings and NOT gibson sized. and anyone who knows the correct logo placement and the headstock shape can tell straight away...(a real gibsons headstock isnt symetrical, the left horn/wing is not the same as the right horn/wing ) most wouldnt tell by just looking at a image. chibsons always get that wrong too as they make it symetrical. the only reason people buy one, is because some people want gibson on the headstock and cant afford a real one(even though they could but a studio or a tribute used for the same after most of them chuck in mods too. and they fool themselves. but as stated above, they clearly have never studied real images of a actual gibson, or let alone played one. if anyone does wnat a chinese built guitar...just buy a Eastman..as they are quality.
Well, everyone has their opinion on the subject. But. If you don't think they can duplicate it perfectly your sadly mistaken. They do have have slight little differences so as to not be a direct duplicate. And yeah like this jackass here said us stupid and poor people buy these because that's all we can afford. Plywood. Plywood. Not sure where this Rich genius got his info. But ones I have are 1 piece Mahogany bodies and necks, with excellent fret work. And Nitro finished. So I'm willing to take a IQ test with this Rich genius. And I'll also gladly show my Bank statement if he will do the same. Signed. Poor Dummy 😮
The TPP would've went a long way toward building a framework for combating the counterfeit/bootleg thing. But big biz torpedoed it--make of that what you will :)
Ive bought quite a few chibsons now, each for 250$ ish, i sell them for around 400$ with full discolsure. They sell like hotcakes. Pickups suck, guitars are solid, fretwork has been decent, maybe ive just gotten lucky many many times in a row. I love watching people like you get bent out of shape over them. Its literally the best part. The fact its counterfeit is what makes it cool.
Yeah these I guess Filthy Rich geniuses will bust a blood vessel if you like some things that they don't. I'm glad us dumb fucking broke asses will never know that pain.
It's a gamble. Some Chibsons are nice, some are unusable and must be thrown away upon receipt. A Chibson costing $300 with another $300 put into gluing and leveling the frets yields a guitar for $600 that is on par with an Epiphone, but has a Gibson headstock, and mimics the look and feel of a $2500 - $5000 Gibson. What do you want, one real Gibson or three or four decent fakes? Do you care about variety? Do you care about resale value or the ethics of trademarks? To each their own.
While I dislike the Chibson that uses the Gibson LOGO I think Gibsons are BAD Schecter Solo Elite SLS is FAR superior ESP EC1000 is superior Want a cheap one... get Wolf or Grote But NEVER buy one with a FAKE LOGO... that's just messed up FYI: I owned 2 Les Paul and Wine Red Studio and a 1960 Goldtop Reissue in 1995ish
Considering modern manufacturing guitar techniques are about 98% done by machines, you are paying for a name on a headstock. And a very expensive name at that. Just buy a LP from another brand. They'll most likely come with better hardware and setup than a real Gibson for less money. And they won't break at the headstock or the neck joint like all Gibsons. Also, it's very rich of you to talk about slave labor as a negative when Gibson was raided by the FBI a few years ago because they acquired ebony wood illegally.
your statement about inflation got me curious how the value of a Les Paul standard has fluctuated. in 1960, they were $2816, adjusted for inflation. remarkably similar to today's prices. when it was brought back in '68, they were $3570. In 78 they were $3613. Looking to more recent History, in 2011, the Standard was $5450 after inflation and the Traditional was $4800.
All the counter arguments in the comments seem to boil down to "well Gibson's quality control is bad too and they're much more expensive". You know there are more reputable brands out there selling guitars at their value worth and with decent quality control right? Gibson and chibson aren't the only 2 options. Why are you so desperate to have that name and logo on there that you're willing to let yourself get ripped off. Stop being a logo poser and just get decent instrument that's worth the money you spend.
To be fair, you could include Gibson on the title along with "Chibson". As a lefty I have no loyalty to the big names. Vola and Schecter both make superior instruments to Fender and Gibson, no doubt there. If you want a decent LP, buy a Tokai. You won't save much money but you will get an excellent bit of kit that is actually set up.
But there is ONE point that remains true: Gibson's quality is shit for $2700. I went to Guitar Center and picked up a Les Paul Standard. It had a bit of dried, caked buffing compound on the edge of the fretboard. It didn't seem like it was gonna be easy to remove. These days, there's just no way to win unless you buy an authentic, vintage Gibson or have a mini overhaul on a brand new Gibson.
The butthurt is strong in this one. How far are you bending over for gibson? Or are you just busking for clicks? I have to admit I was laughing at your outrage. Thanks for the giggles.
Are counterfeit chibons that probplematic? Gibson guitar necks snapping in half is problematic, and is Gibson doing anything about it? I think the issue with chibons is that its hyped up on youtube, and everyone just eats it up. Maybe someone wants a chibson to take on the road and worry less about it. Yeah, I get that counterfeit good have no place on the marketplace. There's just no way to stop anyone from changing thee name on the headstock, les Paul's have been copied by just about everyone and sold with their name on it. It likes putting wa fender sticker on a squire, everyone does it. No one seems to care about fender copies.
I think they are. If you go to the Gibson subreddit every other post is asking if the guitar the user is looking at buying is legit. So I think there is quite few people that are dropping serious money unknowingly on this trash.

Dude have you never heard of FAKE REVIEWS/PAID FOR REVIEWS? Don’t get so upset about it man cause you are only hurting yourself mentally which can in turn hurt yourself physically. Of course Gibson is better.
So counterfeit guitars gave Fender the opportunity to takeover the used guitar market to provide "peace of mind" to consumers. Man they really "stuck it to the man." Hedge funds love these guys! Capital gains!

Cope harder, I have expensive guitars and I have a “Chibson” explorer. Contrary to what many people will say, tonewood does matter. But a piece of wood is a piece of wood. You have to be smart and buy from the *right* “Chibson” seller. Don’t buy from AliExpress, buy from eBay because eBay will get you your money back if anything goes wrong and seller tries to go MIA. I found a seller that makes guitars in the same factory as a bigger overseas brand known as Firefly. I’ve played Firefly guitars before and they have stainless steel frets with good fretwork and they are much higher quality than your average Chinese guitar. So I bought my explorer from this seller and it has SS frets and no problems. I replaced all the hardware and electronics, even though the pickups were good for what they were. You just have to buy a Chibson that has good fretwork and SS frets (which is a lot more common now) and replace the pickups and/or hardware and you have a great guitar for less than $450. As far as the ethics of the labor goes, you may have a point.
@lookingbehind6335 even the paint affects the sound. White sounds different than red. It’s just a fact man, if you can’t hear the difference that means you just don’t have the sensitivity to distinguish it.
Cathy zhong makes amazing chibsons....ive gotten 1 piece mahogany body lp's and yea i change everything out but i can do that over time and when im done I'd put it up against any gibson!
Something to keep in mind. A dollar does not lose value. A dollar is worth a dollar no matter what year it is. It’s worth 100 pennies everyday. The USD is the world currency for that reason alone.
A dollar does lose value - As inflation happens you buy less for that dollar. So you need to give more dollars to buy the same things you bought a few years ago. That is why prices rise - The money loses buying power with inflation. This applies to all currency - including the USD.
You can’t change the way people think , same in politics, they believe what they believe , and that’s none of your business. You’ve stated your opinion , they have stated theirs. Facts or not . People believe what they believe.
no matter what opinion you hold, there is absolutely no need in being so condescending by saying "i want to see a chart of the level of intelligence of people who support chibsons vs people who don't support chibsons" also, you assume inflation happened but nothing else changed in the production. in reality, production became faster, more automated so they need less employees, they opt for cheaper materials and lower quality control etc.. the notion that a company like Gibson guitars could sale their guitars for 2x the price because that's what inflation did is so funny, like they would sell at a lower profit margin because they, what, care about their customers? we know they don't care, and you can be sure that they realistically even increased their profit margin.
Both epiphone and Gibson have factories in china..... if you think that all those Gibson guitars for sale came from a small manufacturer in Nashville your delusional. The amount of guitars they produce in a year isn't possible for the small Nashville location. But China. Has a huge factory. So most chibson guitars come from an actual affiliated manufacturer. Gibson's.have priced themselves into an elite buyers market all because their owner is a collector not a musician/artist or a business man, he is a wealthy collector
Are "reciepts" supposed to be proof?...if so, your "proof" would be laughed out of a courtroom..and yes i understand.we are not in a courtroom but just words on a page is "proof"?
Imagine someone loved the look of a Gibson Theodore, or Beato signature had plenty of money and would like to own one, where would they go to get one? ...... Let's assume this person is left handed, also aren't PRS Silver Sky SE bodies made of five peices. And what's with the (paraphrase) "this guy was on completely the right track, until he said things I disagree with" that's some ego you have there. People buy "look-a-alike" guitars for many reasons, guitarists have always put stickers, stripes, flipped the neck pick 180, cut their trem arm down, painted pink F holes and polka dots on their guitars, because that's what their hero did. Guys paying $10k for a LP siverburst with free stick on mirror are not buying it because it's the best LP they can get for $10k, they're paying it because it's as close to what their hero used they can afford, Chibson's can serve that purpose for people who only have $300. I know next to nothing about you, so this isn't aimed at you, but there are people on RUclips saying Eastman guitars are made in Chinese sweatshops, which is most certainly untrue, and stems from a dislike of "communist China" rather than a dislike of the guitar. I was typing as I was watching and the line "patriot dollars" answered my questions, I wondered what the "shouty" delivery was about
My Chibson ES 345 is now my main guitar. I replaced nothing. I have a Goldtop and a Firebird, all three for less than $800. Best investments of my 35 guitar collection.
I need to make it perfectly clear that I'm against chibsons and Chinese guitars in general, but please stop acting like you give a shit about slave labor and employees when you literally recommend buying Squier and Epiphone(both made in China in sweatshop conditions for slave wages). And before you recommend Mexican Fenders they make on average 12$ USD per day.
Epiphones are not putting Gibson on their headstocks. They are not fraudulent guitars. Chibsons are fraudulent copies stealing the Gibson name. According to recent reports, the fashion industry loses over $50 billion in potential revenue annually due to the sale of counterfeit designer knockoff products, significantly impacting manufacturers' profits through lost sales and damage to brand reputation. It is the same with chibsons causing losses to Gibson. Fraud is fraud. They prosecute people bringing fraudulent designer knockoffs into this country. Where is the prosecution of chibson suppliers?

Rock and Roll started with the working man, and Gibson has turned it into a soulless money making venture, it's no wonder kids have tuned their backs on the guitar, when I pass one of my original Gibson's to one of our youngsters to play, they hold the fcuking thing like a baby, or like it's the last guitar on earth, and it's annoying, and it's wrong.... so fcuk Gibson...
you make a point, but as long as people are willing go buy chibsons and any other knock off,(ie. demon fx) they will always be a market. don't forget some who are duped into buying a chibson as a real Gibson. Like a year ago the Bugera1960 could be bought for around 300. Because RUclipsrs it now sells for 1400. there is always someone who will exploit the system for a profit.
Is that custom binding on a standard sized headstock?
DONT YOU DARE CALL MY CHIBBYS FIREWOOD!
Gibson building guitars in China? Ethics? Why should I care if they don't? Why not buy a Heritage? They're the real Gibson's.
Gotta have a collab between this guy and Spectresoundstudios.
Rantmaxing at its finest
Exactly man like you said, the fact that it's counterfeit makes it cool..
Yeah these I guess Filthy Rich geniuses will bust a blood vessel if you like some things that they don't. I'm glad us dumb fucking broke asses will never know that pain.
Amen-- I think we know who sponsors him
Plywood and veneer with plastic inlays is what it is !
buy a Squier instead
delicious malding
So true man! The actual reason is so they can pawn the chibsons off on someone else. That's why it can't say Epiphone on the head stock.
While I dislike the Chibson that uses the Gibson LOGO
I think Gibsons are BAD
Schecter Solo Elite SLS is FAR superior
ESP EC1000 is superior
Want a cheap one... get Wolf or Grote
But NEVER buy one with a FAKE LOGO... that's just messed up
FYI: I owned 2 Les Paul and Wine Red Studio and a 1960 Goldtop Reissue in 1995ish
Please explain how a dollar isn’t worth a dollar.
Is there $1000 les paul standards out there?
Jesus christ. I have never had any interest in chibsons but you are making a really compelling argument for buying one.
your statement about inflation got me curious how the value of a Les Paul standard has fluctuated. in 1960, they were $2816, adjusted for inflation. remarkably similar to today's prices. when it was brought back in '68, they were $3570.
I only clicked on this because I thought it was called Gibson are lives of shit guitars. That’s more interesting than chibsons
Epiphone is made in china but are legal and do use better quality parts. The chibsons are pure rubbish through and through.
lol
DUDE YOU ARE OBSESSED AND WRONG
The butthurt is strong in this one.
How far are you bending over for gibson?
Or are you just busking for clicks?
I have to admit I was laughing at your outrage.
Thanks for the giggles.
Lol seems like you're the one with the butthurt. How does it feel to be a poser
Lol fr. Guy looks like a sweaty neckbeard
My Chibson SG Jr is immaculate. It fooled GC, which I know isnt hard but I got lucky with this juan.
that gibson wasnt thay messed up guy just made that for clout
I would worry about the Chibson surviving a tour at all.
Take 5 of them with you, smash after each show. Lol

@@christopherfidler3019 Take 5 of them with you, smash after each show. Lol
I think they are. If you go to the Gibson subreddit every other post is asking if the guitar the user is looking at buying is legit. So I think there is quite few people that are dropping serious money unknowingly on this trash.
Dude, you're putting way too much on it. Aside from them being sold as actual Gibsons, It's just another Les Paul copy. Get over it.
Maybe Gibson and epiphone should stop prioritizing profits over their quickly failing quality.
Quickly falling quality? There is no quality at Gibson. Their products have been garbage for decades now.
you can get what you want, you can have nitro paint if that's what you want, you can even ask for a Gibson's nut truss rod to be installed instead of the normal hex key adjuster, it's just a matter of finding the right people who will accommodate your requests.
You can also get updates on your guitar's progress as it goes through the building stages, not bad for £350, wonder how much Gibson charge for the privilege of updates ? you're probably looking at something that cost over $10.000 to get that kind of special treatment. Gibson is soooooooo overpriced
I wanted a Jimmy Page Number 2 for a wall hanger. Didntvwanba spend 30 gs for a wall hanger. And btw slash seems to play fake les pauls at times, so there is that. And there youvstand in judgemebt of others amd their FREEDOM. Nuff Said
You make valid points , but , greed does prevail
Share holders ? Faaaaak offfff
If I can get in touch with , and have one done right without the name ? On the head or influencing an outrageous price
WHY NOT
Now stop yelling at me
can you stop being so whiney brother... you are inviting all the headaches by being cheap yuou get what you pay for its why i dont mind paying 1k for my axe bro even if its import
LONG LIVE CHIBSON !!!!! THEY RULE
Dude have you never heard of FAKE REVIEWS/PAID FOR REVIEWS? Don’t get so upset about it man cause you are only hurting yourself mentally which can in turn hurt yourself physically. Of course Gibson is better.
Exactly, it’s not your fault that a 100 dollar guitar is better than your thousand plus guitar.
So counterfeit guitars gave Fender the opportunity to takeover the used guitar market to provide "peace of mind" to consumers. Man they really "stuck it to the man." Hedge funds love these guys! Capital gains!
I love buying chibbys and throwing $400/$500 into it and i show it to people and there like this is fake dude!! I laugh plug it in and blow there mind!!
There, they're, and their. Learn this.

Betrayal? Let's talk the markup on GIBSONS. I got high quality Chibsons that are worth every penny. Why so mad? Are you getting $$? lol
Tonewood matters with electric guitars? You can’t be serious. That myth has been debunked and proven false thousands of times.
My Chibson after 7 years now is going strong.
Brother found out drame and overdramatized is what pops off on YT
no matter what opinion you hold, there is absolutely no need in being so condescending by saying "i want to see a chart of the level of intelligence of people who support chibsons vs people who don't support chibsons"
also, you assume inflation happened but nothing else changed in the production. in reality, production became faster, more automated so they need less employees, they opt for cheaper materials and lower quality control etc..
the notion that a company like Gibson guitars could sale their guitars for 2x the price because that's what inflation did is so funny, like they would sell at a lower profit margin because they, what, care about their customers? we know they don't care, and you can be sure that they realistically even increased their profit margin.
so i bought a black beauty chibson with the bigsby same deal better then the real gibson
Gibson's.have priced themselves into an elite buyers market all because their owner is a collector not a musician/artist or a business man, he is a wealthy collector
i bought a chibson gold top put some iron gear pick ups in it way better then my real gibson plays better sounds better
Are "reciepts" supposed to be proof?...if so, your "proof" would be laughed out of a courtroom..and yes i understand.we are not in a courtroom but just words on a page is "proof"?
You sound like you're going to cry
And before you recommend Mexican Fenders they make on average 12$ USD per day.
there 200 sh guitars made by slave labor bro calm down dont have high expectations
Gibsons are over priced
Chibson are as good or better than Gibsons now a day. Also Epiphone are chibson. They are made in china.
Have you played one? My dad bought one. It was an incredible piece of 💩
Epiphones are not putting Gibson on their headstocks.
😂😂😂
Not every guitar made in china is bad. It's just fake gibsons. And they are never better, you're just stupid
@@FortessofShredthat’s the thing tho. “Chibson” means fake Gibson made in china. China is a huge fucking country. Do you think every single counterfeit is coming out of the same garage? Quality control is the real issue here. There are great sellers and there are dog shit sellers

And, why WOULD you tell strangers that you play guitar? They care about that just as much as they do what it says on the headstock of your guitar. The only people who are going to take notice of what it says on your headstock, are other guitar players, and we can spot a fake from a mile away.
