I live in the valley and on the 100+ days I head to Oakland to take in and A's game and cool off. (69°) yeah.

There's that many security guards because of how much theft there was at the mall prior. It's been like that throughout most malls in California unfortunately.

The best uniforms in all of baseball and they have to play for a pile of crap like Fisher calling the shots who's systematically driven them right out of town while forcing them to play another year in a lame-duck stadium that's been allowed to rot for years. It's sickening...like watching the A's play right now vs. Tampa who also is a team that deserves better than that rat-bag of a ballpark they've had to call home since their inception and no matter how good they do the fans stay away.

I’ve really enjoyed many of the experiences I’ve had in Oakland, but the city is in a situation now where the odds are too high that I’ll become a crime victim. Not worth it for me no matter how good the coffee, beer, bagel and arts scene is there.

as a local, i don't hang out in Oakland, it's like North Korea, anything can happen just because it didn't one day doesn't mean it's not going happen, it's a game of statistic.. if you're in Oakland always keep your wits around your surrounds, look for anything out of the ordinary, and always have a plan exit cause 911 doesn't help... as a veterans im in my element in Oakland, it's lawless, and because it's lawless, im lawless.

I use to deliver Alcohol all over the east bay . One time I delivered to Agave uptown and the owner was talking to some investors and he got mad that I didn’t know where the delivery zone was at. I was like what a fucking sellout gentrified asshole. But I did see someone break into a car that had two suitcases just out in the open they did it at 1:40pm like nothing 😭😭 I love oakland

As someone who's lived in the Bay area in my entire life I only normally take day trips to Oakland but now I feel quite inclined to move there

I live in a city significantly smaller than San Francisco. A few years ago , there were a group of ‘ unhoused persons ‘ living under a railroad overpass. They were routinely wandering into the street begging for change and basically being a nuisance. The city installed rocks into the concrete where they were living. I haven’t seen these ‘ unhoused people ‘ since. I don’t like being cruel to people but this city has public housing that is basically free and they refuse it. That tells me that they are either mentally I’ll or not actually homeless. Either way , sleeping outdoors is a bad idea. It can get dangerously cold here and sleeping outside in weather like that is inviting hypothermia. Now leaving someone outside to freeze to death would be cruel. If you’re opposed to forcing homeless people indoors then ok that’s fine but some places get much colder than San Francisco and the difference between 50 F and 0 F could be a couple of toes.

Oakland could use about two years of Bukele.

Last week I visited San Francisco for the second time in 6 months and I saw crackheads on the street, shit everywhere, closed down retail stores, shoplifting, homeless passed out on the streets. My flight home to London, England 🇬🇧 was later in the evening on my last day and I had had enough. I ventured out to San Mateo for the afternoon and what a delight. Clean, lovely shops and restaurants, a delightful library. It is such a shame what has happened in downtown San Francisco. I remember my first visit 20 years ago in Sep 2004. I loved it so much I came again 3 months later. Thanks for showcasing the good side of this beautiful city.

Oakland's amazing, but the problem with going there constantly is the theft and damage to your car and attacks that will likely happen if you visit or work there often.

As a life long East Bay resident it sickens me what happened to my A's. I refuse to be a fan of a Las Vegas team.

The fact that I lived in Oakland all my life, (im 26) born and raised, yet the only time I ever went to an A’s game was a field trip my school took us too in middle school after that, ive never went back, or honestly even hear of them, being from the “ghetto” of Oakland, you honestly never hear the A’s being mentioned or seen anywhere in billboards maybe just graffiti here and there haha
