Thank you, brother, you are the best!!!
Thank you so much. I feel I'm understating my appreciation.
What was that blue stuff glue ?
Thank you! I’m a master in the lawn, but plumbing, that’s a whole other level :)
Thank you..have a blessed day
You are a blessing, bro! I just fixed my valve due to your video easy!
I wanna thank you so much. You helped my comfort level to approach this task. However I couldn't get the old valve off with my tools, so I used my small pipe cutter to cut part of the pipe off(had plenty of pipe left) then followed your instructions, added pipe threading and no leaks. Thanks again.
Make sure your pipes are PVC if you use this method. If they are PEX pipes (used in many newer homes), you will need a stop valve instead of the PVC cement. The cement doesn't work on PEX.
I liked your video very much, but I have a few things to add. You should say that the stem "screws" out. I was pulling on it for a little while before I realized this. Also, remind people to remove the old washer from the retention nut. Some people might not notice this or try to reuse the old one. Lastly, my old handle from 1986 did not fit the new stem. Tell people they might want to save themselves a trip back to the hardware store by spending a little more by buying a new handle too.
Oh! Thank you so much for the feedback… I’m sure I’ll do more of these and for sure will hit those points… thanks again!!!
Sir what is the big round piece in the middle called
DELTA FAUCET Cover Plate RP29827, 13 x 8.12 x 0.38 inches, Chrome: amzn.to/3OksbbO
I like it.
Thanks!!!
Thanks for helping
Happy to help
To prevent water freezing in the pipe I am installing a Straight Drain Coupling with Cap on the inside.
That’s a a great idea!!
I hate it when they swouter a pipe.
😂
Have fun with your "mowtch". Be careful when you are mowtching, you could get dirty.
lol… mouuutchi!! 😂
good
Oh! Thanks for watching!!! 👍
How will you drain the water for winter time? Does it not freeze where you are?
Shut the water off inside and leave the faucet open dripping outside.
@@DIYPlumbingGuyit will still have water in the section running vertical. Need a bleeder valve at the bottom in cold climates.
DO NOT DO THIS IN CANADA - you will have an exploding copper pipe, no IF's But's, or Maybe's.
😀
👍
Not a big fan of Sharkbite fittings but they kept you out of the crawl space on this one. Never fun going in there. Nice job!
Yes! Sharkbite is an option, an a very DIY one, you could definitely do this with pretty much any type fitting. And…. Sharkbites are pricey 😳.
best video
Thank you!!!!🙏 This
You did an awesome job! I really enjoy watching all your videos as I learn so much. You give great tips and tricks. Running into problems and how to resolve them. Thank you for sharing. Keep going! 🤗🤗👍🏻👍🏻
I’m happy that you found this enjoyable. Thanks!!! 🙏
NICE JOB!!
Thank you so much!!! 😊
Very helpful for a quick repair for an old corroded pipe thread valve that is too close to the wall to easily remove the old valve body. Ace or a good plumbers supply may have the kit. Big box stores typically don’t stock repair kits, usually new valves only.
Big help 🎉🎉🎉
Awesome!!! 👏
My house has this kind of plastic valves, they still working fine, no leaking after 10 years. My previous rental house has the metal valves, it leaks. I think it really depends. If it ain't broke, don't Fix It 😆
Thank you!
Welcome!🙏
Purchased several drains and they are all longer than the old. Am I supposed to cut it short?
Thank you for the video! Wish the pipes were copper in my house...
Yes! Many of these houses with cpvc pipes have issues. Thanks for watching
It is a crime to use a sealant. The plumber wanted to charge me $600 because who installed the shut-off valve used it. No Bueno. NEVER EVER use sealant.
The manufacturer recommends this approach, so I added this step to the video. d2cl5to9q9oami.cloudfront.net/doc/425.04_WaterStops_INS.pdf … thanks for watching!!
What about using shark bite valves? I noticed a lot of plumbers are using those nowadays. Do you like them? For beginners make sure you leave that compression fitting on the top of your valve so when you’re tightening down the main compression fitting, not flattening or messing up your threads so you can attach your water supply line
I like them… I am looking forward doing videos using them.
I don’t think any one would want to plunge a toilet with plastic sheet. Aka saran wrap.
It wasn’t the best to plunge either… lol
I was very excited to see this video, since I didn't know what I needed until I saw it. I just ran to the store and grabbed the replacement part. I just discovered that the washer at the end of the original stem had broken off inside the valve, so that was fun getting that out. Only to find that the threads on the replacement stem don't match my hardware. Old valve, maybe when there was a different standard in the 60's? Is there even a standard? I really hate plumbing. I did manage to get the old stem back in with no leaks with the valve open, so at least I'm happy about that. Need a plan B in getting new faucet and supply lines installed. Hmmm
Hey! Thanks for watching…. I have a video on my channel on how to replace this, it’s really easy and diy friendly. Good luck
Can i buy just the rentention nut? Mine is rounded out, slightly leaking and the little screw that holds the valve handle cant be unscrewed with a screwdriver because someone mangled it.
I have not see just the retention nut. Maybe at this point is best to buy a replacement unit, pull out the retention nut and use here. Good luck!
Is this doable for a valve that does shut off at all?
For sure!! This is the main reason you want these repaired… good luck
Thanks. Have ready a couple of small containers rather than rags, just in case ....
Yes! Just in case 😊… never know
Dude ...Had a leaky valve. Watched several videos showing me how to replace the whole shemozzle. Found your video...solved my problem in 15 minutes and for $5. You are a Rock Star!!!
Wow!! good stuff ... thanks!
Same here. 100% on point
Love this!! Will be doing it here. Thanks.
Good stuff!!!
Love this guy. So gets to the point. Covers the bases.
Oh man!!! Thanks so much! Thanks for watching 👍
For <$5 USD you can get new seat bolts from just about any hardware store and not mess around with the old ones.
For sure!!!! I really hate these plastic bolts they provide nowadays… back then used to be better hardware.
After a few videos that were useless… yours actually helped me. So simple but I didn’t know about that screw. Saw it. But thought well that will just go down the drain! Thanks for the “unscrew halfway part”! You rock man. Just a simple hair clog. And now it’s draining perfectly! Thank you!!!
Love it!!! Thanks for watching
there are 2 orings on these,. one on the ID/inside and one on the OD/outside. Both can be seen in the video. The ID oring is on the outside of the barb that fits into the water line tube. while these are a less than ideal valve, this video is incorrect because water does not pool up betweenthe 2 orings by design (although there is a good possibility that BOTH orings can go out, his description of how it operates is incorrect.
also, he uses cements to install the new valves?!?!?! This is SO bad. what if the valve needs to be replaced for some reason? Finally, he used FAR too much cement to instal these. IT's going to leak thru and into the water line when installed. such bad advice here
Do you have to replace the overflow plate, or can you just remove and replace the drain itself?
You can leave the overflow, but the kit comes with the plate…. It’s up to you.
Method 1 worked for me. Thanks
Very nice!!!👍
Stem broke easily when I tried to shut off water supply to take. Thanks for instructions on how to replace it.
Cool!! I'm glad it helped.
This was perfect timing! I have this issue in my spare bathroom. Thank you so much for making this video and sharing the tips. You're awesome 👍🏻👍🏻🥰🥰
Great!!!! Now your toilet seats won’t dance around anymore!! 😂
Do you have a video that shows how to replace the 3 piece handle system with another 3 piece handles set??
Ok, so did u turn off the water going into the house first? Or doesn't it automatically do that? Need better videos with each step.
lol!!! I wish I had an automatic water shutoff. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
Thanks to you I saved 400 dollars
Great!!! I love when this happens…
Never apply the sealant on the thread. You don’t understand the mechanism. The thread do not any role on sealing the water. If you really want to apply the sealant, apply on the brass ring.
Yes, I think very similar, however the manufacturer recommends this approach, so I added this step to the video. d2cl5to9q9oami.cloudfront.net/doc/425.04_WaterStops_INS.pdf … thanks for watching!!
The sealant acts a lubricant to get a tighter squeeze. Nothing wrong with it
@@MLawson5could you use silicone grease?
Recommending the use of PB Blaster inside the house should be punished with jail time.
Oh man!!! Is really that bad? I didnt know.
