The purpose of this channel is to showcase what is possible with the Z19DTH and A20DTH family of engines. Most of the Basic information applies to most diesel Engines in regards to Tuning for more Power.
Due to the way the Diesel Engine is built it is often possible to double the engines power output without any major internal upgrades like forged rods and pistons.

So finally we were able to get onto a Dyno to check the results of the GTB1752 Turbo upgrade built by ourselves. The remapping work has been done by Ridge Tech Remapping and the results were a satisfying 232.9 Bhp and 475 Nm. The power output could have been higher as ambient temps were 23 degrees a warm day!

For the manifold heat shield, would it help if there was another plate welded between thecold and hot side with some insulation so the cold can keep cold and the hot keep hot?
What did tou do with the vacum pipe that attaches to the top of the old cat ive just straight piped mine same decat you have and now im having boost issues once taking off
Will this part cause engine to shudder and shake when turning off engine ?
Hi mate, do you know have any of these for Z19DTH?
At 3:12 the part with the blades that is covered with soot i cannot get this of to clean behind it, there are 3 torx bolts i have removed but it still wont come off. I have cleaned the blades that move to adjust boost with wd40 and a toothbrush but really need to get this part off so i can clean the mechanism behind that moves the blades. Any advice? My problem was overboost
please for 131 hp hybrid ?
take that metal elbow off to the right of the engine which connects the vacuum hose to the solenoid (it's not needed) and feed it directly to the solenoid you will get better boost
hi where is can get this turbo kit please
Can bad turbo cause blow by i have 160hp version
Hi
What about the car sensors
So the A20DTH throttle body is a good swap on the Z19DTH?
Why don't he show what he's done.very odd
Ive got a Zafira B 1.9 cdti 150, Running on bigger turbo, R80 pump etc etc... But ive got a strange issue... I wonder if your able to help with because im running out of ideas rapidly.. If im cruising along, in 1 gear, say, In a 30mph zone, then go into a 60 zone, i put my foot down, and i go like a rocket.... No matter what gear... it pulls hard and well.... But if im accelerating through the gears to pick up speed.. Its gutless until around 3k revs... I have to proper thrash it to make it go... But if i stop accelerating, and just cruise in the same gear for 5-10 seconds... and put my foot down again.. it will go like a rocket again... Same as when i tryu to overtake.... Drop it down a gear, and its gutless to overtake... But if im cruising in a gear for a while, then just put my foot down to overtake.. it goes like a rocket... Its kinda like, I have to stay in 1 gear for a bit, and wait for it to "build up".... When the car is cold.. it just wants to go atthe touch of the pedal.... But when fully warmed up on a journey.. I need to keep it in 1 gear for a while, Before it will go... Even if im in 6th at 40mph... Aslong as i stay cruising in that gear for a bit, then put my foot down, It will pull well and hard.... Someone said to me that maybe the vacuum pump is struggling to produce vacuum, and the cruising in same gear, gives it time to build up vacuum.. But i replaced the vac pump the other day.. still exactly the same... EGR and DPF are deleted also... and EGR is blanked off at the inlet manifold and EGR is unplugged... So it isnt EGR related... No split boost pipes.. I removed and cleaned the throttle body / judder valve, that is functioning as it should... No engine lights, No limp mode.. Never.... Removed and cleaned the MAF and MAP sensor... Fuel filter has been replaced... Ive replaced that little pipe that bends round, from the vac pump too... Some days, every now and then.. it will just go like an absolute rocket.... but 90% of the time.. it has this issue.... I do alot of long journeys too... So cant be soot build up etc... Ive ran tank after tank of Wynns and Forte system cleaner... No change...
What is this cold side turbo off would you have a link please
What is this turbo off looking to hybrid mine with the 1752 and looking for options
Engine breather goes into pipe from turbo to airbox. What is the sensor attached there for? Can I just remove it from there and put in a better intake pipe to turbo?
Hey i’m one of your subscriber. I’ve bought a same turbo for my z20d1. Can you help me regarding the actuator calibration. Thank you. If you dont mind, add your email or Instagram ID. Thank you. Much appreciated.
How did you make the induction pipe work buddy ?
Just a quick question on the dpf delete is there ports on the new pipe to take the pressure sensors from the old dpf or do you just leave them out and map them out ?
Bolts
Hi what size are the we boots you put in the cog
Hello I'm.new to these engines as if owned vxrs in the past i have a astra j 2.0 cdti now and I really want to mod it but I'm 100% unaware of there tuning potential with bolt on mods ect could you please give me a little education on these
The tuning levels with a standard engine and bolt on mods should be around 300-400 bhp but it all depends when you want the power band to occur. An example would be my setup which has boost coming on from around 2200rpm and full boost by 2800rpm and should see around 280bhp. A bigger turbo would see higher power but boost would probably not begin until 2800rpm so less drivable as a daily.
@@dieseltuningincboosttechno4684 thanks for the reply it's surprising these engines can take that much power on stock internals, it's gave me abit of hope now for tuning, if subscribed to your channel and look forward to more uploads 🙏
@@dieseltuningincboosttechno4684 would that be with straight pipe no dpf egr ect aswell, so with exhaust system, induction kit, hybrid turbo, intercooler ect what power would that see
Its gonna worthy de to that with an vectra c 2.2 dti exhaust manifold hybrid turbo ??
Hi mate! any possible way you would ship to norway? do you have a mail adress i could reach you on?
hi there if i delete egr and swirls but leave them plugged in will i get codes thrown up without an ecu mapping ?
I have that same engine in my zafira If i was to do a stage 2 map on it do i need to change many parts and upgrades?
Where did you get your dpf delete pipe from ?
Can i somehow get 200+hp from 1.7cdti dts? Most of the remapers offering around 160hp.
Hi I am very interested in fitting a hybrid turbo to my 2014 insignia 1b sri. Do you have a link to a website where you sell these if you still do, and any other mods for some nice power increases you recommend. Thanks.
I don t build them anymore as I am too busy but there are several still kicking around as they were really popular for a while.
@dieseltuningincboosttechno4684 thanks for the reply. Do you have any idea where to look for one?
Hey man great video, can you help me? im actually going to use the same turbo on a mk2 superb 2.0cr , my question is how to transfer the actuator do i have to cut the arm? And my greatest concern is how to set the stop screw? How many mm?
so you can obtain short VNT arm kits from the internet but they do require tig welding in place if that is what you mean. So just so I am clear what Turbo are you fitting and to what engine ?
@@dieseltuningincboosttechno4684 sorry for the late reply it's 2.0tdi cjaa . I might have used a wrong term I was actually looking for the minimum air flow calibration after the vacuum conversion. Can we do it manually or I need to send it to the flow bench. One more thing is confusing if we calibrate the minimum flow, we adjust it to the factory turbo flow rate or the new turbos stock flow rate?
@user-yy9xd9fq8b obviously it will be more better on a flow bench but 90% if the time if you put 1.5mm on the stop screw the rest of the vnt adjustment can be done via the map
@@boosttech2548 about my other question of the minimum flow what's ur suggestion it's my first build
@@dieseltuningincboosttechno4684 oh yeah the turbo is gtb2056
Hey i want to decat my astra j1.7 cdti dts, but i found downpipe only for astra h which is older engine and different car and i dont know if i can fit it on J or custom made pipe is only option.
Thanks for the video, really useful to get all the tips. I am definitely doing this to my astra which is a manual. But out of curiosity, do you think an auto would handle this. It would make such a go kart for getting around in...
Hi, do you think the auto transmission would be able to handle a turbo upgrade ?
Totally fine a chap in scotland has been running 1 for 2 years without issues just change the fluid to be safe.
Oh man I’m getting deep in my vectra at the minute … I’m at a crossroads do I just keep going or do I pack it in. I really love the wee motor that’s the only reason I’ve been showing her love and a new lease at life lol
What were the stock injectors 156 or 243? I have vectra c gts Z19dth and dont know what are my injectors can you help?
One thing you can do if you've deleted the ASV is push the clutch in prior to shutting down this will take any load of you flywheel.
Hi, you mention a 4 branch manifold an wondered if this will be a custom made part by yourselfs or have you found someone who makes them for the a20dth engine?
It is a custom part but any 4 branch manifold that fits the z19dth will also fit the a20
Defo 50mm not cm. 1/2 a metre outlet would be a mahoosive Turbo. Keep up the good work !! 👍😊⭐️⭐️
Ha Ha and they say size isn t important
By the VNT arm I can see a set screw? 0:46 on the turbo itself, a black bolt. When the car starts I assume the VNT arm drops down to rest on that screw? Can you change the amount of movement the arm has with this, and would that affect how the turbo boosts?
you can change the stop screw setting and it will change how the turbo boosts but it is something that should only be done with a VNT flow machine and skill/knowledge. To adjust it manually could cause overboost that will destroy the turbo why do you want to adjust it?
@@dieseltuningincboosttechno4684 I still get occasional very rare over boost, I think my VNT might be clogged but want to eliminate anything else out first. Thanks, most likely wont touch that then.
@@swoogles4093 Clean the MAP sensor in the inlet manifold they get covered in gunk
Hi mate, thanks for your help video. I got insignia 1.6 cdti 2016, when I bought it came with no power, DPF full, and error code P0299 and P0234. I replaced Map, Maf, O2 sensor, delete dpf and egr from ecu, but I still have no power at all.. Update i removed the intake manifold out cleaned it up lot of dust come from inside manifold, I don't have air leak the turbocharger apparently work work well. But I don't removed it yet for check. Did you have any idea about my big issue? Thanks
do you have any experience tuning the 1.7 cdti engines in the astra j? Currently trying to figure out a hybrid turbo build but running into difficulty finding upgraded sensors
I don t but the basic points are the same the best thing to do is talk to a mapper who should be able to point you in the direction of the right sensor then he will need to adjust your map so the ECU does throw a fit and start screaming about overboost!
what grill is that
How will this pass a MOT
The mot is a smoke check it passed easily
@@dieseltuningincboosttechno4684 okay I'm thinking of having mine done soon but didn't want to fail it's mot
hello, I own a vectra c 1.9 diesel standard from 2004, (non gts version). I want to upgrade ONLY the intercooler, egr and flaps off, a light stage 1 remap to gain 25-30 HP. Can you give me some guidance on what do I need to do this job?. Do you sell upgraded intercoolers who can fit my vehicle. I am from SPAIN thanks.
Will it work fine with a stage 1 (temporarily, until I can get it re-remapped)?
I have a Zafira B 1.9 cdti 150 (z19dth engine)... Ive heard people delete the shudder valve... Can i just remove the butterfly, So that its always open?!?! Surely thats essentially the same as just deleting it entirely.... While keeping electrics in place to keep ECU happy.... Im asking because im having intermittent boost problems, And im honestly out of ideas to what it is... No EML, Pedal test codes etc.. One day it goes like a rocket (remapped).. then other days, its gutless AF and have to thrash it to make it go... Ive replaced boost solenoid and the vacuum pipes to silicone... Boost pipes to silicone.... New intercooler to rule out a leak from that.... EGR valve cleaned, MAP sensor removed and cleaned, Swirl flap deleted and blanked... Vacuum pump is pulsing vacuum as it should.... Cleaned MAF sensor with Isopropyl Alcohol too... I dont know if the Shudder valve is affecting it.. But being in the path of the boost pipes, Just seams logical to me, that its a potential issue..
Hi mate.are you still selling a 1752 turbo for insignia.cheers
Hi Matt.im driving a 2012 insignia 2.0 cdti 160 bhp.do you sell the gtb1752 turbo with bigger chamber.im interested in buying a modified shutter valve too.cheers Pat
