Alright, Mace the Ace buying the Throne's debt just sold me on the theory. Bro is smart as hell, especially since if he wasn't smart he probably would've questioned the suggestion and not have done it.

In the bad dragon show, Mace refers to a "King Maegor III", a monarch who extremely did not exist. Is there some way to fit this into the theory? I don't know, maybe. Did dumb and dumber just make up a new monarch even though a full list of Targaryen kings already existed? I guess we can't put anything past them, but there may have been some reason they had Mace specifically name check a king who never existed

A while ago InDeepGeek put forward another good bit of evidence for big brain Mace: the siege of storms end. Mace spent a huge chunk of Robert's rebellion doing fucking nothing of military consequence. The siege accomplished nothing and never had any chance of accomplishing anything MILITARILY. But politically I think he actually succeeded, I think he pulled a much more convincing Late Lord Walder. The crown couldn't convincingly argue Mace as not being loyal, but he also didn't really do anything to hurt the Baratheon cause or loose any appreciable number of men. You could even get a bit conspiratorial and say he let Davos through on purpose because he never actually wanted to take the castle

I really dig the discussion of lovecraftian horror. Reminds me of a scenario i occasionally pitch to my friends asking "how would you react if you encountered a skeleton walking around in real life?" Skeletons aren't exactly the scariest undead one might think of, but i think the implications would drive me insane. Seeing bones moving without connective tissue, muscles and tendons implies something else is animating this thing. Its gotta be a robot, right? How much mental gymnastics will i go through before i accept that necromancy is real and there might be some kinda afterlife? Anyway thanks for allowing me to dissociate in the comments

I don't know if this is mentioned later in the video, but I was under the assumption that Bloodraven was connected to the Weirwoods specifically to bypass the Wall's magical connection. HOTD kinda confirms this when Daemon touches the tree and sees Brynden. Though it obviously isn't (yet) book canon, I think it has pretty good precedent to be book canon. The roots likely go underneath the Wall, and maybe Bloodraven being connected to the South in that regard is enough for him to be able to warg beyond the Wall to the South. It's kinda like a signal booster.

Who can say whether what Catelyn seems to describe as an invisible human figure casting a shadow on a tent wall in candlelight would not be interpreted by someone else as a light mist if described directly? Or if seen in different lighting conditions? Or, even if a very different visible apparition, who can say whether the difference between near invisibility and a light mist is not a matter of talent, practice, or even a fundamentally different technique for manipulating a universal reality of the possibility for consciousness to be disembodied and yet interact with the physical? In any case, Martin's references to Bloodraven possibly having Dracula-like powers are straightforward. At the very least, the esteemed Mr. Taco has certainly identified in the further mist references surrounding him a deliberate design by our author to make us wonder whether Brynden can simply 'skinchange' another's body with his consciousness (a la Bran or Varamyr), or actually cause his consciousness to walk the land as a light fog, or both. As with so many things he gives us multiple plausible explanations. Not the least of which, and the most important for making his work so thrilling and enjoyable on a first read is that Maekar's description of the fight to Dunk is fully believable to us and our hero. The character has possibly experienced a strange phenomenon and yet assimilated it in a way that is tragic and affecting on first read, and even later when picking it apart and suspecting foul play, we don't think he's stupid for not getting it. I'm very open to Bloodraven's body being safe in his tent under guard while his mind stalks the tourney grounds as vapor. I would submit the disembodied consciousness angle as more likely than actual transmogrification of his body into mist. A fun adaptation of a gothic horror element into the psychic world of the Song. Bravo.
