Great video! Now I have better understanding of the use of the tools. Does anyone able to purchase from Horia directly? I tried to create an account for purchase but no response from Horia.
Yes I bought from them directly. You can email them if you have problems
Impressive skills.
Thank you!
You can't see the whole beauty of a mechanical watch because it's inside the case.
That's the way it is with Rolex watches
Damn I feel bad for the guy that bought this watch
Well, it's all sorted 👍 The problem is that buyers have to rely on the sellers when they say the watch they are buying has been serviced.
@@MacroTime28800 I know, and it’s the good honest people that always get butt hurt
Excellent vid of a beautiful movement, imo. Very accurate and detailed..and great clarity while in motion. Love your workmanship. Maybe my DJ is due for a full service....! Thank you sir.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing this! Does the 4r36 also have the same plastic cog wheels as the ones found in this NH36? Just curious if there’s any difference between the two movements or if they are in fact identical in terms of parts. Thanks!
I've never worked on one but must likely they are the same. I've done 6R15 video, the Alpinist that that also has plastic. It acts as a 'fuse'. If you change the date or day at the wrong time when you shouldn't do it, it's the plastic that will break, not the other parts they interract with.
I was surprised to see the tweezers you used to pick up the hands. I was expecting the carbon tipped ones. Could you highlight the ones you used at some point.? Thank you 🙏🏻

Just had my 1st attempt at the mainspring barrel, it was officially tricky. Any tips on opening without causing damage?
It’s not designed for opening so you will most likely mark it no matter what but shouldn’t damage it. If I remember correctly, I used a scalpel.
Wow, amazing visuals and expert explanations! Thanks so much for sharing your craft!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Unfortunately we are at the mercy of watchmakers. I had my speedmaster serviced at high cost by someone highly recommended. The second hand now fouls the minute hand in some positions so I cant use the chronograph. I know probably easily fixed but shows poor work and i didnt want to send it back. More seriously it now keeps poor time and the power reserve fell to 30 hours. He had the watch for weeks and only gave back when I chased him. I'm convinced that he didnt acrually service it and I wish i had not sent it to him.
I can imagine how you feel and I understand why you feel that way. Sometimes it’s not that easy, we all make mistakes, miss something, things go wrong whether we like it or not. My understanding is that he’s a watchmaker rather than a seller like in the case of my video where they did a very poor job just to sell the watch to make as much money as possible. If I’m correct, that’s not your case with an independent watchmaker. Perhaps he would be very embarrassed if you contacted him and told him what issues you have with the watch and he would gladly sort out the issues. As for the time it took, I cannot really comment on that. My case is very different, I have to rearrange the lights for every shot, reposition the camera, change the settings… It takes me far, far longer than most people would be prepared to wait for unless they have other watches and are not concerned about the time it can take to produce the video because their pleasure is in seeing the video of their watch being serviced. For watchmakers who do this for living, they may have a backlog, they may have to source parts that may not be so easily obtainable, they may struggle to identify particular issues… I truly understand how you feel and I don’t blame you. But maybe he is a good watchmaker, you say he was highly recommended, and he simply missed something. Most of us naturally feel we’re being ripped off when something goes wrong, but not everyone is bad, we’re only humans, we all make mistakes.
👍👌👏: nice work (yours, not the previous one), though this must have been a very costly restoration - 🤪.
Thank you! Yes it wasn't cheap. It needed a lot of new parts and Rolex parts are expensive 🙁
Thank you for a series of excellent video that will save me a lot of time learning this craft.
Thank you very much! Glad it was helpful!
I'll definitely try this, but when I can justify buying all the tools for it :) Thank you!

Great video. A butcher did some bad job before, with inapropriate tools perhaps. How can someone even bend a bridge!
Someone did a dreadful job. And the fact that the dealer sold it as fully serviced makes it even worse, you can’t trust anyone.
Impressive! Thanks!
Thank you!

Hey can u teach me about watches
I'm sorry I am not a professional who could teach and I do not have the time. This is where you can start: www.watchfix.com/
Not servicing at watch will not cause that kind of damage. Bad servicing does.
👍
The brushed finish you put on the top of that case is gorgeous.
Glad you liked it!
Fantastic video, absolute pleasure to watch and listen to.
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
incredible qualtiy and even better service!

@@MacroTime28800 I bought a reck OPDate (ref 1500, from 1965) in 1980. And had it properly worked on. It’s been my daily. I’ve suffered some bad service and I’ve learned how to source proper service. (Rolex factory once, and that was an expensive disaster. It’s been made right since by true watchman.) It’s been 1-2” day for decades. I figure it’s maybe at half life. So I anticipate another 30 more years of stunning performance and timeless appearance.
Man, what a channel!! Your knowledge of watchmaking, your work on the movement and your work with the camera are all on another level. It shows your love for a job well done. Congrats!!
Thank you! Glad to hear you enjoyed it 👍
I have a Swiss chronograph from the 1940’s, it uses a Landeron L50 movement and I have the exact same issue, your video made me very worried 😢 Bought the watch as fully serviced and it always has been extremely hard to wind. When the power reserve is fully depleted, it winds with some moderate resistance (more than what I would consider as nornal), but as you start to accumulate some winding on the main spring, it starts building so much resistance on the crown that it comes to a point where you can’t continue winding without hurting your fingers… I know it’s not resistance from being fully wound because it happens with some 12 or 15 turns on the crown, so I’d think there’s a few more turns to go before reaching the limit, but it’s just impossible to go any further by hand. After watching your video, it made me think if maybe I have some sort of similar issue, with a bent barrel bridge or something that could turn the watch useless by the lack of a replacement part…
It sounds like the issue I had with this watch. The resistance in my case was the worn out bushing. It allowed the barrel and the ratchet wheel to tilt so much that the ratchet wheel was touching the underside of the automatic bridge. Hence the resistance when winding. It could perhaps be the same issue. You just don't know until you inspect it. I'd get it serviced sooner rather than later.
@@MacroTime28800 yeah, that’s what I figured. In my case, there’s no automatic bridge, the watch is a manual wind only, but surely something there is rubbing against something else that it shouldn’t. I stopped using the watch to prevent any further damage, but I’ll have to send it to service whenever possible. It’s hard to find people willing to and capable of servicing this kind of watch here in Brazil, at least close to home, most watchmakers only take simple servicing jobs and/or only work with simple watches, not mechanical chronographs. We have some very good watchmakers (Omega Authorized Technitians and etc), but they’re not accessible in a way that you can bring the watch yourself and talk directly to them, you have to send it via mail, and it takes a very long time for them to even perform an evaluation and send you a quotation for the service. By the way, loved your channel and your content, congratulations and keep up with the good work!! 😃
I think most people will have to post their watches to get them serviced and it can take a long time to get them back, it can take months. But eventually, you’ll have a nice watch that works well
Great video good job
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Your explanation and attention to detail is impeccable!!
Thank you!
This is pure inspiration !.🤔
Thank you!
Nice, Leo! I just got an old watch last night with a similar shape and 19mm lugs, I did think for a second, "What am I gonna do with this?" A straight strap with this type of case shape gives it a unique look, so now I have an idea of what it'll look like cleaned up and strapped. Thanks!
I'm glad it helped!
Liking to penny pinch,I hate to say this but it must be said. This is an art,it's becoming a lost art,i believe RUclips pushes others to get involved in this type of service. The part I hate to say, money is no object in this case.I really enjoy your work and attention to detail...
Thank you, nice to hear you enjoyed it! I’d say that the art is perhaps in designing the movements rather than servicing them 👍
My favorite timepiece of all time
It's timeless 👍
👍🏻👍🏻
👍
Nice video, thank you for posting.
Thanks for watching!
How would I go about getting you to service my 94 Rolex oyster?
If you go to my channel you will see 'More about this channel ...more'. You'll find my email there and we can have a chat about it 👍
I don't see an email.
It's on my channel page, just above the subscribe button, click on the '...more'
I sent an email to you.
I haven't received one 🙁
Thanks, you are really an honest man when you mentioned that you can find the manual online.
Thank you! Yes, the manufacturer always produces a service manual for the watch repairers. Not all, but many can be found on the internet, just like this Rolex 3035 👍
Really enjoyed watching your video sir... keep it up!
Thank you!
Wonderful video, very informative. I can't believe Seiko put a plastic driving wheel in there.
I didn't know at the time of making the video but it acts as a fuse. If the day or date is changed at the wrong time and something breaks, it will only be the plastic 👍
Just wanted to say that color grading of the video is fantastic ! Looks like a vintage documentary filmed on film
Thank you! I don't really know anything about colour grading. I play around with it a little and hope for the best 😊
Well done. I'd like to learn a bit about you if you don't mind. Are you a professional watchmaker? Retired? Active? Expert amateur watchmaker? Absolutely outstanding video. Also I love seeing watchmaker's setups and 'offices'. Cheers to you mate.
Thank you! This is only a hobby I do in my spare time. Evenings, weekends, in the spare room when I get a chance to work on watches 👍
2 years ago I bought an omega Seamaster 300m from 1999 from a grey market dealer. It was a nice store but the day after I bought it, I noticed the watch stopped at night. And it didn’t run within chronometer specifications. I brought it back and they serviced it and since then it works fine. I wonder if they just tried to get away without servicing the watch.
I'm afraid I couldn't tell whether it was serviced or not. It's only when you open it and start inspecting it you'll find out whether it was serviced or not.
