Thanks for the review Leo. I have been using a set of Augusta screwdrivers I purchased years ago. I was planning on just using them until I could afford a set of Bergeon but I have found them to be fine screwdrivers. They came in a nice wood case, they feel good in the hand and the blades last a long time. Not a bad purchase for 65 Euro or so.
That’s what it’s about, finding a good set you like. It doesn’t have to be Bergeon or Horotec. As long as you’re satisfied with what you have, that’s all it matters. The stainless steel Bergeon was my first set and I’m more than happy with it. I only got the different sets so I can easily differentiate between them.
The thing I like about the cased set is they are easier to dust. Those other sets you have to pull apart, wipe the stand, then replace all the drivers. The case is dusted with a single swipe and all the dust is captured with a microfibre cloth. I appreciate the case takes up more room but that is not an issue for me, and I like the old fashioned style case. Thank you for the excellent presentation. Outstanding!
Dust is also a major concern for me and that is the reason why I like the set in the box. Having three sets, three boxes would take up too much space that’s why I bought the other two on rotating bases 👍
I have a cheap set that I bought online, I only use it once a year for my watches. do you think I should upgrade to a high-quality set? I only worry about stripping screws not sure if a higher quality set will help in this matter or not?
I don't think there is any need to buy a better set if you only use it once a year. What you could do is to buy good quality Swiss blades and swap them for the ones you have in your cheap set 👍
I was pleased to find that they are merely a 20-25 minute drive from me. I have watched nearly 100 hrs of videos on this "hobby" and I retire in about a year from now. I look forward to spending some time at their business getting to handle these tools and selecting them for my retirement "hobby."
@@colinbenfield326 Touché. I don’t think many people know of esslinger… certainly not the younger generation or average Joe like myself. Many have been brought up on Amazon and are missing out on gems like cousins or the like, unfortunately.
I have a quite cheap set now so this video fits me nice. Sometimes my Screwdrivers gets magnetized so that's a bit frustrating and I've a bit problem with colors. Thank you for this, very informative, will help me deciding for a new set!
My blades also get magnetised from time to time, I just have to put them on the demagnetiser. You could buy the anti-magnetic blades but they will be softer. You can’t go wrong with any of these sets. There are also the stainless steel handles with TPE elastomer coat etc.
I was wondering whether one could buy an inexpensive set of screwdrivers and replace the blades with decent blades. I considered buying a cheaper set for the video to see whether I could use the Bergeon or Horotec blades but there are many of the cheaper screwdrivers and even if the blades fit in them, there is no guarantee that they will fit in all cheaper sets, that’s why I decided not to review a cheaper set as I could mislead others if the blades did not fit in their sets. It would have been nice though if they did.
Yeah, agreed, I was thinking of like cousinsuk cheap drivers then using better quality blades. It’s not easy to recommend anything apart from bergeon, horetec and a*f
That’s just it, you never know what you’re going to get when you buy an inexpensive set. I’ve been using these sets for quite some time so I feel comfortable recommending them 👍

Excellent thanks. I bought my burgeons bit by bit and then found the carousel separate was a hundred quid 😢 Bad economics on my part.
I would have done the same if I was buying them separately bit by bit. It’s a shame they don’t sell the smaller stand on its own.

@@MacroTime28800 Yeah, I guess these might be a bit more resistant to magnetized but okey. Maybe I run them on the demag before every project.
I don’t have to demagnetise them very often. Perhaps that’s because I demagnetise cases and movements before disassembly.
