What I Love About Guild Wars 2
Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG that launched August 28th in 2012 (25th with 3 day headstart) and is celebrating its 10th anniversary. With the Steam release and the celebration, I wanted to take this opportunity and take a step back and focus on why I love this game so much. Starting with a brief history of the long wait of 5 years before the game actually released and then talking about the 3 things that make this game so special to me.
"What I Love About..." is a video series heavily indulging in nostalgia. Focusing mainly on why a game is particularly amazing to me. Blending personal stories, highlights and facts to take you on a trip down memory lane.

Bored of leveling? Try this! - Level Up Challenge for Alts in Guild Wars 2
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.2 года назад
In this video I show you a ruleset to level up a brand new character in Fractals of the Mists in Guild Wars 2. It is aimed at returning and veteran players because of the only requirement to start this challenge: you need to have a bunch of Tomes of Knowledge saved up in your bank. I also recommend doing this challenge with a friend or two since I found solo to be a bit too tedious. For solo ru...

Lost Ark Is Not For Me - But I Still Play It...

In this video I talk about why Lost Ark is not the game that I had hoped it to be. While I absolutely love the gameplay, the core systems of the game, in particular the heavy focus on dailies and percentage chance upgrading, deteriorate my enjoyment of it drastically. As always, I'm also very interested in your end game experiences with Lost Ark so be sure to let me know in the comments below! ...

They were extremely well designed without being too punishing. With strike challenge mo...

I still use the music in my dnd campaigns
Lmao i still play runescape
Now that I’m an adult, it’s fucking ridiculous how our parents couldn’t sacrifice $15 a month for our happiness… actually, it was less 🤦🏽
please make more videos i love it
Unfortunately, I stopped making YT videos for now but still love the comments that trickle in here and there. So thanks, hope you have a wonderful day!
i been trying this for the first time recently, struggling atm because i have issue reading text on screen, and without the story its just a running simulator, not got to 20 yet so cant speak for the dungeons im hoping there more fun lol
@9:56 lmao. Remember the Searing Flames fire ele djinns roaming? Or even better: the bosses :D
Still playing for a few weeks almost every year
You missed the best PVP -> hero games. Was amazing ❤ later replaced by kodex
Best Necromancer ever.
My favorite memories from this game are all the moments I spent playing it with my dad, best memories, best childhood game ever, I would just recommend it to pretty much everyone
i like solo farming and dungeons from eotn
Loved seeing the "runner" clip at 3:32. I remember when the dervish runner meta took over warriors.
the music and the variety of skills
I really enjoyed watching these two episodes. You have a way with words when explaining the game; I've never played GW1 yet I could follow the videos easily. I feel like there's not many other GW1 content creators who pull that off.
Best thing was playing Team Arena with my best mates and grinding Gladiator Points :) Fond memories
The one feature that I wish they kept in Gw2 was the skill capture system. Seriously, they could've taken anything else away but if they kept the skill capture system, GW2 would be a bigger gem than it is right now. That Skill capture system with the fact that NPCs used players skills really made me explore GW1. Seeing an NPC using Unsteady Ground and then going "I want THAT!!!!" and then replaying the instance, running all the way there, just to get that skill. Or when I absolutely got bodied by Ice Imps using Maelstrom and I went "Oh so that's what that does" and I equipped it and made sure to use it on them first. That is what I call horizontal progression. Technically, Rangers in GW2 have that feeling because they have to go to specific places to get their pets but its only for one class. GW2 could do with such a system that really gets you invested in the skills you have or can gain. Another thing that was fun was figuring out the tactics to take on groups of mobs. I landed on this strat that mostly works when your NPCs don't spam all the wrong skills on the wrong targets. I always had two Eles in my 8 man, both had the same 3 main skills and after that AoE fire skills that caused burning. Unsteady Ground, Maelstrom and Meteor Shower, (don't ask about my attribute set-up) all skills that interrupt when attacking, casting, and MS just knocks folks on their butt. Hit the healer with Maelstrom, hit the Melee with unsteady, wipe out the healer quickly whilst the melee War keeps the enemy Melee in check and burn through the rest afterwards with Meteor showers. You know how they said the final boss in EoTN would get enraged if you keep interrupting her? Yea, didn't matter. Burned through her with my two Eles and a NPC interrupt Ranger. I even ran a few people through the hard mode for free. Those were fun times indeed.
The perfect game. Im sad we're losing the real nerds who played board and card games. We dont get these games any more.
My favourite of GW1 is non other than aggro bubble. In the speed clear solo like UWSC, it is very significant. Skill based game like GW1 is really unique. No other game can match it. Thanks for sharing.
I recently started playing Guild Wars 1 again after feeling the urge to play a game with strong build craft. The amazing ability to create so many different viable builds in PvE was why I loved the game. It gives you a freedom you don't find even in Guild Wars 2. Plus being able to customize my team makes the experience evergreen. And I love that about the game. Although I do have to disagree with you about the energy and adrenaline system. They're not hard to balance. Guild Wars 1 had far bigger balancing problems with the number of unique skill effects and the problem with duplicates. If you got a hex on you for example it could be doing 1 of over 100 different things. This seriously punished players for lack of game knowledge. Guild Wars 2 suffers from its balance because they abandoned energy as a mechanic and we see builds that optimize skill rotation rather than a more reactive or proactive style of gameplay. Its made it impossible for them to balance boons the way the originally intended and just made sure everyone could provide the needed boons in the new meta. Energy is a balancing pillar and Guild Wars 2 yanked it out of place meaning it has fewer leavers to use to balance skills.
Man those first music notes got me right in them feels.
Headless was here
Best game I've ever played. Played guildwars all throughout highschool and I still get all nostalgic seeing any video pop up on youtube.
this sounds so familiar
you're videos are chill and uplifting, that's cool and fresh, i like that.
I just got gw1 in this last sale and I'm really curious to explore it, I enjoyed your overview of the game.
Makes me sad when I go back into guild wars to once busy areas and they have like 1 person in the whole place
I would do anything to go back to the time I was trying to collect all of the armor for my Assassin... I managed to get every single one but I still loved playing with guild friends and having tournaments and stuff. Great game and the times I had playing it are unforgettable
Let’s be honest- gw2 sucks
Nah man. Its just a different game
The problem is pvp match is really hard to find
Cometo think about it, Guild Wars was one of my first online experience, along with Hero Online.
honestly, out of all games that have been remastered, This is one of the games that absolutely needs a Remaster. Would bring amazing new life to this game
I loved how getting max gear/level was super easy, so you could focus on actually playing the game rather than grinding for loot. Also the music at the beginning sent me back 10 years.
One of the best games ever made, that login music is still great ❤
What an amazing game. I loved almost everything about it, but the biggest draw for me was the skill / multiclassing system. <3
55 monk farming ecto in underworld. Holding Halls. Climbing the GvG ranks. This game was sooooo much fun!
Played that game so much as a teen. Even met my Guild Leader like 15 years later in life when we randomly worked at the same company and his name rang a bell so i asked him if he was that guy back then LOL. Also celebrated christmas ingame with other lonely gamers, it was epic, i would do it all again if i could turn back time. ❤😂
The music is by Jeremy Soul. For anyone wondering
GW2 destroyed guild wars.. GW1 was sooo good!
Bedankt voor de review! 😉
My favorite thing is the end game (and just dungeons in general). And I know a lot of MMO players always say this but seriously, it was an intense and difficult part of the game. It required you to tune your builds precisely so that they were good against the endgame, and have a solid strategy going in. Some of this endgame was dungeons based around the realms of gods in the Pantheon, which allowed them to be incredibly creative with level design and enemy design. In one dungeon you'd be fighting eldritch squid demons and demon minotaurs in the Underworld, the next you're fighting stone summit dwarves inside a mountain deep in the Shiverpeaks. It always delivered throughout the entire game a seamless believable fantasy work that is still solid to this day. These dungeons were difficult but gave you unique items you could only get in there that were good for PVP and making PVE much easier. I used to farm these endlessly, and then drop rate is so low that it requires this, giving these dungeons more replayability. One of the coolest aspects of these dungeons was actually a core part of the game: stealing skills from boss enemies. This was how you got the best skills in the game, which was why I loved farming dungeons so much. They purposely locked strong and unique skills behind hard bosses in the dungeons so that EVERYONE had the incentive to farm them, not JUST people who like to collect stronger gear (like a popular old MMO we know). This affected PVP greatly because some people would have these skills, and other people of the same class wouldn't. It added SO much build diversity to the PVP play. You'd get hit by something and be like "WTF did he just use??". You'd have to look it up and say "oh I can only get that from X boss in Y dungeon" and you'd go pick that up yourself. Fantastic game with genius and addicting reward structures that don't require real-world money to participate in. I love Guild Wars 1.
This is by far the best game ever made. With the unique builds , unique PVP everything about this game was just the best. If they could just remaster this game in today and make it so your character could jump . This game can make a huge comeback
Definitely the collectable cards/skills aspect of it. And the heroes system. And the entire interface being movable and resizable was insanely cool.
Great series so far, I was disappointed to see that the last episode was part 2 over a year ago but I’m keeping my hopes up 🤞🏼
Getting your name broadcast to the entire server when you won in the Hall of Heroes was my favourite feature. Such a small thing that gave you a huge sense of achievement.
small thing with the game but I always thought the achievement system was so cool. When a player did an achievement it would win him favor with the gods which would allow everyone else to enter their realms (UW/FoW) without having a scroll. It was so cool that your achievements you were doing solo had an impact on every other player. I remember a weekend where they had double LB/Paragon points and so many people maxed it out that we had favor in the game for like 6 months in a row!
i remember doing the legendary explorer title, had to download supplementary tool to not miss 0.1% of kryta map ... good times.
My favourite things in GW: The music first and foremost, it's so so good...looking around the Shiverpeaks with a girl I used to like and using it almost as a date...watching someone do the Drok's run for the first time...and of course, "RURIK, NOOOO!"
collections are lazy development. It is a lazy way to make time consuming content but who thinks conatantly looking at a wiki page every two seconds to find crap around the world fun? It killed the game for me.
Ahhh good memories playing this game. Was sooooo dissapointed with gw2. It lost the magic of making builds.
IWAY and 55 Monk I like Gw2 but there is a severe lack of build diversity
