Man, one of these behind my 390 63.5 Galaxie 500 XL would be sick!!!
So, how does the transmission crossmember mount work? I am assuming we’re not lucky enough for it to bolt straight up to the C6 crossmember. I’m working on a 1978 Grand Marquis, and no one makes performance parts for mixing and matching all the cool upgrade parts. I’m assuming I’m going to have to find someone who can make a custom crossmember?
Don't use this kit, they break flexplates non stop
Sorry to hear this! Please know that we do not supply the flexplate with this kit, it should be unaffected by the kit itself. How is it breaking? Make sure the torque specs follow fords guidelines. Make sure you give us a call with any struggles!

I thought the twin six was 2 blocks bolted together? Does anyone know if they did make ones bolted together or where they all one piece blocks? Very cool by the way I really like your hemi with a turbo it’s so cool.
Thanks for the comment! With the way engineers were in the past, it very well could be both! As far as research goes, the bolted together variant was a prototype than only a few were made. There was another one piece block that was also called the twin-6 but couldn't find anything further. We're always learning more about the 100+ year history of the automotive world!
@@speedgems3978 thanks yea they are really interesting engines I would love to find one someday and also the ford gaa engine is also a bucket list engine I’ve always wondered what kind of power one would make with higher compression and a more aggressive cam.
Does the 6r80 come in 4x4 and what would you need computer wise to run some Of these transmissions ?
There are some 6R80s that come from the F150 for example that have a transfer case, we recommend reaching out to Advance Adapters for any 4x4 or transfer case application. As far as the stand alone controller, we partner with US Shift for the stand alone controller, customers often tell us its a plug and play situation along with the initial set up. Will this work with a 4l80e that has the The extra hole at the 12 o clock position even if you dont use the bolt hole?
Yes, the bolt pattern is the same with the exception of the top hole. We adapt it to standard GM/Chevy pattern that was the same from the Powerglides up to even the 4L80s, with and without the 12 o'clock hole that is.

Hi mate, now you’ve got me thinking, I’ve gone through several C6’s behind the 429 in a ‘71 LTD 2 door plus the 4:11’s get pretty tiring on the highway. I know nothing about late model gearboxes and am wondering how the C6 compares strength wise and also I’m currently using a 3000 rpm stall converter so what do I do there?
If your transmissions are burning through quicker than getting you from 0-60, go to a trusted transmission rebuilder and ask for their opinion on what transmission to use. Their recommendation could be you using the C6 still but with different internals. Especially if you got a big block engine, even unmodified, it can output a decent amount of HP/Torque.
@@speedgems3978 thanks mate, they’re not so much burning through as blowing up, the guy I use is good but it’s the fifty plus year old parts that are letting the team down so I either spend up big on aftermarket internals or go for a later trans that has the benefit of an overdrive. I’ve just moved from the city to the bush so I may even change to a six speed manual. Thanks for your suggestions.

It can depend on what you are looking for. We don't have a standard adapter plate, but if you can find a bellhousing to get a GM standard pattern to either a 84-92 Chevy S10 OR 93-96 Chevy S10 we can supply a bellhousing adapter plate. So a person needs a adaptor and a smaller clutch. I have a 75 with a fe 390 that I heard folks swapping these zf5 speeds. Thanks for informing us that a diesel type won't work.

make a new trans case that fits the engine
Hi Jerry - We have a few custom made bellhousings that would work for manual transmissions. Automatic transmissions generally can't be replaced without extensive modifications or being a removable bellhousing. We strive to make things as easy as possible for the end user!

Should work with all the FE engines.... 352, 360, 390, 410, 427, & 428. The block bolt patterns are the same.

ford 460, should the flexplate weight be facing the 12 o'clock position ? or be facing 180 degs the other way in the 6 o'clock position? in relation to the hatchet weight in the front. please help me, thanks
The flexplate being in 12 or 6 o'clock position shouldn't matter, as long as the welded side faces the engine and the nonwelded side faces the transmission. Call us for any more questions.
@@speedgems3978 I think you misunderstand the question. in relation to the hatchet weight in the front of the motor, should the weight on the flexplate be 180 degrees from it or aligned with it. I have already destroyed one transmission by not having it correct.
@@EarthsMysterieswithKenKay Gotcha, was a little confused, thought the 460 was always internally balanced but that is not the case. You would need to have it diametrically opposite of the hatchet weight to then be "balanced", but please consult an engine builder to get a second opinion.

@@speedgems3978 I couldn't find anyone that knew the correct answer. so I put it on as you suggested, and the engine is horribly out of balance. what should I do now? should I take it all apart and then put it lined up with the hatchet weight?

What is the point of the torque converter adapter? Is it for using a non 6r80 torque converter?
Excellent question! It's to compensate the gap between the flexplate and the torque converter itself. Without it, the flexplate won't reach the torque converter and not move at all.
Is there a compatible manual transmission that could be mounted on a 460 BBF?
We currently do not have a kit for a manual transmission, we do have a kit to go to the Ford AOD automatic, but not to a manual unfortunately.

Unfortunately yes, the way that the starter is and how it has to be fasten would require to pull the trans.
Great video, I have a 41 Ford Tudor Deluxe and was looking at individual runtz like devices. This 2-6 volt batteries is way better, when you factor in the cost of these voltage reducing devices. I once had a 77 T Bird that I installed a GM alternator. I still have a Optima battery, 12 volt that is at least 13 years old, use in on lawn tractor.

What did you guys wind up doing about the flywheel? I've got the same engine and mating it to an audi 01e. Still brainstorming how to get those two together haha.
