Don’t vassalise until AFTER Realm divide. Much slower penalty count and useful for taking away some of the crazy realm divide workload

I just don't like killing my own units especially when campaigning you have to win battles back to back with weird terrain being aagressive vs archer spam. It's sure nice having samurais charging your pikes and guns on open terrain

Oda get faction wide farming buffs, reduced ashigaru upkeep and some better matchlocks. The first two individually are fine but together are op. The third combined with the second is also op. Chosokabe get better archers and thats like it.

i literally sat for like 30 minutes waiting for the mangonels to hit there target in the tutorial. Never using them.

I've noticed that if you and your vasal are Christian they don;t tend to betray even during realm divide.

Nothing hurts more then loosing your hip companion they hit a place in your heart nothing else can reach. Glad you gave him a long and happy life man, never forget them they are always watching over waiting to visit you in your sleep. Rest easy little man

When I want to start a campaign the game just shuts down. I unsubscribed to all mods and this keeps happening

Started this mod today as the Joseon Dynasty. Basically, a dream come true, not just since Shogun 2. This desire goes all the way back to Shogun 1. Like you mention, I do kinda wish the mod was a little more complete. The minimap localizer is off, in winter, the roads are hard to locate. The terrain is a little too plain in the new territories especially. Movement distance is very slow, which makes sense but makes it difficult to deal with invading armies; it can take 5 turns to move a town's own defense forces to your towns on the outskirts on time to intercept enemies. Also, I kinda wish there were voice overs in Korean, Chinese and Mongolian. Hearing my Korean king speak in Japanese and get referred to as Daimyo is a little un-immersive. I would do this myself if I were a native speaker and had a decent mic. Also, obviously the intro scenes are not accurate (it's the Shogun 2 main campaign intro clip), and the source clan's original map intro (think for Korea, it was the Chosokabe). Fixing at least the written version of the in-game briefing should be doable without too much difficulty and would go a long way to improving this mod. Finally, they changed the seasons to months, but it still tells me "spring", or "winter". Would be nice if I could know which month we're in.. In any case, very enjoyable mod if you are into the other nations surrounding Japan. The units are very impressive and complete. My Korean troops actually look very Korean. Surprised Creative Assembly didn't make this a paid DLC..They have the studio equipment to make a DLC with much less effort as it takes these modders to convert existing content. I would pay 60,- EUR for this, but I haven't bought any new TW games front Attilla on. This is so much better. They should go back to their roots. I hope they (the modders) continue the work, but I get that it's a lot of work for quite a niche project. Very thankful for everything they added so far! It's still a dream come true!

Me last time playing Otomo: 3 Nanban ports should be fine. You: that is a rookie number.

Play as Oda first if you want to be educated how the game works. Date, Shimazu, Chosokabe and Takeda if you want to unleash your inner weeb and go balls to the wall. Otomo and Ikko kiki for a challenge.

I liked to do a Battle of Cannae style. Present the AI with a very weak center ... 3-4 Yari Ashi spread thin (3 deep) with 6 matchlocks in front. On the flanks are Katanas, or whatever the deadliest flanking shock troops available are. Maybe 1 Yari Sam in reserve. And a few Yari Cav on 1 flank for anti-cav, anti-bow, and chase down broken units. AI will always go straight after that juicy weak center. If they charge Cav, I just retreat the matchlocks and let the spear wall destroy them. Get matchlocks back out for the infantry. Let them free fire until they're kiting then disable. As soon as their infantry breaks into a run, start folding the Katana in -- walk them up and out, turn them in then charge in the rear. At this point Yari Cav should have dealt with their cav, and able to freely go after their bows. You can choose to either march the Matchlocks out to the flanks and fire into the enemy sides. Or just fire through your speer wall (RIP Yari Ashi). The one Yari Sam is there to fill a gap if the speerwall breaks or if one of their cav units breaks loose and threatens you elsewhere.

I like a mix, having 3-4 yari ashigaru in an army but I think its important to have some samurai as they are more resistant to flanking and are more versatile, but ashigaru make for a great frontline when in formation

Bow Samurai are really good, especially for the Otomo since the Otomo clan cannot get Bow Warrior Monks nor Warrior Monks due to already starting with Christian.

They can add Korea and freaking China but not Hokkaido lol.

You can also use them as a plug for a larger faction so your enemy has something to hit their head against. Honour is another benefit, getting vassals will raise your daimyo's honour and if they are destroyed by an enemy you don't loose this honour nor do you loose it if they betray you.

In order to trigger Vassals not suffering the -20 relations from realm divide per turn, is it necessary to become shogun, or just to trigger realm divide?

Me and my Boy did a co op campaign as a Takeda/Oda alliance and by god we fucken DOMINATED the Great Cav units working in unison with the Great Ashigaru units just conquer 99% of the time

Hojo should be in shame tier. Mori should at least be C. Their ships are better even without any tech, wako raiders are pretty useful, starts with fertile soil and temple ground (morale boosts is useful for early ashigaru army), close to kyushu. One thing to argue about nanban trade ship is it's not Otomo specific..

my poor hattori.. c tier but s tier in my heart though I would consider moving them to B tier due to their ninja. the increased price of units is shitty but ninja can do a lot to halt your enemies progress and even out the inevitable imbalance. combined with the kisho training you can pull off some nice ambushes.

Not at all. They prop up your honour, pay you tribute and serve as buffer zones

Maybe an old list. But I think you're undervaluing how good Warhorses, Gold, and Schools really are in Shogun 2. More often than not on higher difficulties like Very Hard or Legendary; your economy is often the thing holding you back. Warhorses can net you absurbs amounts of cash with clans that don't have the resource, sometimes up to 10K depending on what stage of the game you are at. Not to mention how easily you can earn trade deals so you can use that cash to build up your own economy before Realm Divide hits. This is also why I place provinces with Gold or Schools higher up as you can secure higher level Metsuke agents to earn more money for better units, more economic buildings, agent actions etc. Same goes for Gold provinces especially when you upgrade the mines themselves. Heck, right behind them is the Ninja Building as having level 3 ninja agents grants you easy access to the sabotage army effect, which, aside from overseeing towns, might be the best agent action in the game on higher difficulties.

the Mori and the Hojo were done dirty in this game. They were some of the most powerful before the Oda, the Hojo even coming close to completely wiping out the Uesugi.

I have yet to complete a single campaign in shogun (i play my campaign on easy cause I haven’t finished one yet) and I haven’t played any rts

This is great but how do you deal with heavy archer based armies. I feel like this army is great for defensive positions but gets shredded hard from mass archer fire?

bows? swords? samurai? all must kneel before the formation of 19 Yari Ashigaru. all must kneel before my 6 Ashigaru armies. because I am the shogun.

Could you not retake all the provinces while the final quarter is being constructed or would it cancel construction?

If you want to grow tall you may need to expand onto honshu and take the literacy specialty provinces. they give faster research rate and better metsuje by giving them extra starting points
