didnt realise the threshold for second wind was right on a sweet spot of becoming very tired. it feels right in hindsight, but i didnt realise until now. and thanks for the shoutout on wedge, another underappreciated aspect of the game that can easily be entirely neglected. its refreshing to have someone really dig into these systems and mechanics and have all of these details be presented well, and presented with the gameplay prowess to back it all up, insightful breakdown. psst. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to trips (yes it is his birthday today).
Yeah right its crazy how these abilities can be optimized in such a fashion. Timing is so crucial in this game. Also its not like you're just spamming buttons to win, its deliberate whenever you activate these abilities in battle. Of course happy to plug you!
I would note Kiyomasa’s katana cav is quite useful to use dismount for when the situation calls for it. Their melee stats are so good being a katana hero unit that when dismounted, they still can absolutely butcher any enemy that isn’t a hero unit, and now tear apart spear units. This also makes them pretty good for sieges as well.
I've noticed that fire arrows don't last one volley but rather the amount of time that is approx 1 volley. So if you activate it right before the volley and the reload rate of a unit is high enough you can get 2 fire volleys. Also the yari cav dismounting is absolutely the most game-changing ability for me. Bait enemy cab with your yari cav, and just delete the enemy without loosing many man.
Unmounting really made me appreciate katana cavalry. They're best used for two instances: protecting your yari cavalry units and fast transportation of katana samurai. They're multipurpose as to quickly position a katana infantry to be in advantageous terrain quickly and take advantage to turn the battle in your favor. Have the kat cav run on the flank or behind enemy lines then unmount and attack without any regards to yari units. Unmount them close to Yari cav and as soon as enemy yari units are close, you can quickly counterattack with unmounted kat cav while your yari units reset their charge, finish off a general or escape. They might not be able to fight off other cav and they're the worst in hammer anvil tactics but they are the best melee cav unit as a vanguard to protect other cav units and the best unit to be used to flank the enemy in places where normal cav would be deterred from. Their two main disadvantages are their expense and small unit size but this can be remedied by having kat cav early on in the campaign or have them made in unit factories like a blacksmith province.
I remember my shock after 350h in shogun 2 when I first try Medival 2 and bow cav was actually good and fun to use. Realy I cant see many problems in shogun 2 but lack of actual nice to use bow cav is one of them

No fire by rank? Shamefur dispray! I just can't find use for it, units fire so late when this mode activated. You can speed up first volley if manually targeted enemy from further than matchlocks can shoot, but even still... Oh, and sometimes with this mode arquebusiers just don't shoot at all. What a stupid mode for f sake!
FbR is broken by the pickiness of the unit in terms of being in the proper formation. They won't fire unless everyone is situated and ready, and this quirk can also be seen in FOTS as units can be locked into the "Tosa Shuffle" and will be constantly reforming rather than firing back. I've tried digging into the files to fix FbR, but to no avail. An "All-Ranks Fire" mod combined with Kneel Fire is just a better option anyways.
Unmounted cav units regaining fresh fatigue stats makes sense really. It's the horse that was tired!
Right that was what I figured as well, still even after combat too lol
@@TripleZHacker he's channeling the strength of the horse to swing his sword and hold on to the saddle.

love both ya channels and
Volound keep leading the charge for better totalwar games like shogun instead of the nonsense that came with Warhammer
What a sweet comment

That’s true! I didn’t consider them when discussing that, excellent point~
Muffaka, still waiting for that part 3
So what. are you still waiting?

Didn't realized that second wind is pretty neat ability. Thanks man.
Aww, poor Will, always being fired at.
I have to say thanks for uploading these. It has really helped me since a lot of the abilities aren't described very well.
watching those fots abilities are gonna be great

that intro is a work of art
Dismounting revolver cav is always really funny because they'll still use their revolvers like little cowboys lol.

Omg yessss
Katana Cav in a wedge formation beats AI yari cav in a head on charge while only loosing half the unit (due to charge damage reduction)

Hei you never did part 3?
Part 3 when?
Was part 3 ever released?
love the alex jones memes. I pray for that man.

Is it just me or is there no part 3?
Not yet D: have it in progress for quite some time so apologies for that.

no part 3 ? xd

I find it works better if you have fire at will off and manually target the unit you wanna kill
