Loan Sword Ashigaru are chads at countering FOTS armies, ofc you can only bring 4 so throw some ashigaru in to pad it out and have katana sam/nodachi to back the charge after the ashigaru wave eats up the 1st few volleys
I love that the army composition is a composition of all DLC-VET units. Money truly is the most important thing. Getting right clicked up a vertical hill is such a good experience. AND this is not even mentioning that higher rank players have access to more retainers meaning more bonuses purely for just having played more. Maybe show an army with no vets and no dlc and show how to beat a mounted gunner, fire cav, heavy gunner, player.
I mean the dlc units are just broken like that but you don't technically need them and getting veteran units doesn't cost money and you want to use them because you've upgraded them
I know the video is more than 2 years old, but it seems the concept of attendant meatshields doesn't exist anymore as a meta in S2 judging from this video. The attendant/matchlock combo was always superior to the yari ashigaru/matchlock combo because of cost and not having to rely on activating spearwall. Attendants are also nice just to through in as a delaying tactic or to capture a the far away keybuilding.
For single player i like to play to the clans strengh: Takeda: no Archers, all out rushing the enemy with arround 6 cavs, nodachi samurais and warrior monks Chosokabe or otomo, quit defencivly with alot of bows/gunpowder naginata samurai infront of bows to soak dmg, tercos as main fron line because they just are pretty awsome in melee Date/hattori also quit offensivly because of the charge buff/Kisho training. shimazu quit balanced because katana samurai are a blanced unit. ikko ikki: warrior monks and if i need some armies in a pinch i get lonesword ashigaru from some close by cities. Oda i mostly go for the double yari wall(1 unit of yari ashigaru and 1 long yari ashigaru placed slightly behind one another form a double spear front) because it looks so awsome just a line of death that are the clans i play the most. i dont have a special stratagie for hojo, mori or tokugawa
Aaah yes, the Mounted Gunner. The DLC unit that made me stop playing multiplayer back in the day (that and the FotS DLC). A veteran Mounted Gunner could simply destroy an entire army by himself, it was absolutely ridiculous.
I get attached to my veterans so my entire army comp is vets and balanced type. My medium fund consists of 2 Yari Cav Vets, 4 Katana Sam Vets, and 1 Daikyu Sam Vet; I use a bow gen so normally I keep my guys close together taking a key building with my at least one yari cav hidden. My bow Gen effectively harassed the enemy, take out the gun cav, and if they pursue thebow gen I try to lead them to my yari cav vet to either ambush or deter. The only issue of course is fewer units but it makes it much easier to micro. I have the same composition for large only this time I have an additional fire cav and yari cav, and two bow monks replacing the daikyu. Pretty much the same strategy is applied and both are pretty successful. I do have an ultra but I don't care too much for ultra battles so I don't play them. I do have a small army comp that I use but I know a lot of players hate it since it makes the battle last longer and frustrating to beat. It consists of only three units, Bow Gen, Hero Bow Cav, and Fire Cav. Simply widdle down the enemy with bow cavs with higher arrow counts and use fire cav to counter what will most likely be light cav. I have a lot of fun with this build, but it is way too OP unless the opponent plays with cav spam.
Every time a RUclipsr says that they are gonna put a certain link in the description, they will specifically leave out that link. Literally happens every single time.
Before the dlc's I used to play a bit and later on all you would ever fight was ashigaru backed with monk guns and a few units of yari cav or GG, nothing else. Really drove me away from it.
Mounted Gunners..A.I doesn't what to do with them. I just send them to their flank they won't do anything until the units on their flank has been 65% bork.
Ok react to shogun 2 the mori experience and do the same with a few other video's on or off camera JUST so you know this is about that list on weak to strong clans video and in watch that guys video's will show you how to play those clans right to sone extents at least 👌
@@TripleZHacker Many of these builds try to do too many things making them pretty weak all around to someone bringing a more tailored army. A few other things to note bow cav are very meta and naginata samurai can probably be considered the worst spear unit in the game. Swords also do not counter spears, a proper spear army will be bringing sword nerfing retainers making sword only marginally more effective with a much greater risk.
@@josiahkachel9736 Depends on whether we’re discussing classic battles verses avatar, bow Cav is used to some degree but usually a bow general in avatar makes them not that viable and other bow units also to some degree. In terms of negative sword retainers sure, but most rush armies prepare for that. Additionally swords do beat spears in the game in a 1v1 that’s just a fact. Naginatas are not the worst in my opinion and can be used on occasion. I think we will have to disagree to agree and also most of the builds are used quite frequently from my experience.
I’m so glad there’s still people who enjoy this game.
Of course this game glorious
Indeed !
i just started playing a few months ago, im glad people still do guides after 11+ years!
What about a video on how to counter a FOTS army with a vanilla shogun army

Do a video on the best way to upgrade veteran units.
Ah yes the mounted gunner, i thought shimazu heavy gunner is broken already. turns out, mounted gunner were the true menace.
keep up shogun man. we watch

Serious question is it monetarily feasible to have a tercio esque formation as in
Gun
Sword/spear
Cav or bow

20 Naginata samurai boiss, lets go!!
My friends are my power
Still waiting for a Fall of the Samurai vid
I try to get provinces with smithings and recruit yari or naginata samurais for infantries.

Yeah these dlc units truly made it really unplayable honestly, and yeah definitely loved using those units
What's the logic behind the same units getting more expensive as you level up?
How do you have white star

I've actually never played multiplayer but in singleplayer I only have archers or gunners in my armies
Lmao, yea dude, imagine someone saying ez after using that disgustingly broken unit
Do you still find online matches?
Sometimes I do! Or I usually play friendlies on my discord :)
@@TripleZHacker damn I never find any matches

@@omarcepeda9121 Sweet and for sure plenty of people tend to play! I try to join whenever I can that is as long as I’m not working on content :)

Well basically just spam yari ashigaru and bow ashigaru
Also a valid army comp, all ashigaru spams can be devastating
I'm gonna be honest, I'm a dirty no dachi spammer... I came for reform

The intro is obligated, with something hideous like the ever-Mounted Gunners.
The advice being given out in this video is just wrong in so many ways
I’m open to criticism so let me know what’s wrong with the advice I’d be happy to hear your thoughts
