When you say ‘main toilet block’ is there another? I don’t remember seeing another. It’s a bit of a walk from the serviced pitches. Did you walk up to the Green Dragon pub at Hardraw? It takes about 30 minutes, wonderful old pub.

Happy belated birthday Rachel. We loved Hawes when we stayed in September 2022 but at another site, Bainbridge Ing, which we really liked. We enjoyed the creamery and had a beautiful meal there. We would like to return and visit Hardraw Force so would probably stop at the club site as it is nearer. Have a great Christmas. Take care Gill

Hiya David Rachel and Roxy. Yes Hawes is a beautiful place I looked on the pennygarth cafe webcam this morning and it was covered in snow so was Ribblehead viaduct. Our first port of call is always the cheese factory shop Sheila likes the sampling side and something to eat in there. Campsite looked lovely is it open all year it'll certainly be packed in the Summer. Just want to wish you both a Merry Xmas and a happy new year looking forward to next year's travel's. Please wish the tomato man a merry Xmas from us both and we'll catch up with him next year🎉 Malcolm and Sheila from Workington.

Aysgarth fall is lovely, we've been and like you had breakfast there 😉. The road to the falls is steep so I had to go alone - used in the "robin Hood film". The creamery is a great place along with Hawes - so quirky. Love that site and been a couple of times now. As you say the scenery is simply stunning. A very Merry Christmas to you both for both of us.🎅🎄❄

Hi David, how did you connect to just the sockets MCB? I have a positive and Negative bus bar connecting all my MCBs together, so if i connect in to the existing mains in, it will power everything which i dont want.

Lovely video as always. Thank you. The hedge you saw looks like one in my local woodland. It was made by volunteers to create a natural fence on the sides of the path. Great for the wildlife and a natural resource.

Hi. Great video. Just came across your channel. I took delivery of a 2024 Swift Voyager 594 in September 7 8mtr long. Similar setup to the Kon-tiki, a lot cheaper. It is a Ford cab automatic. So far I have been very pleased, drives better, smoother, less rattles than the 2019 Fiat cab Swift 694 I had before. So many problems withe the Fiat. Will certainly subscribe to your channel.

I have just bought the Spitz AX (GL-X3000) router in the Black Friday deal. so far I am pleased with it. but as yet I haven't got any external antennas connected, but has worked well so far on its supplied indoor antennas. Also during the Black Friday sale. I have bought on Three network sim card with 50gig a monthly data allowance, with an expiry date of June 2027 for a one off fee of £37, now priced at £69 on Amazon. So I am not worried about any monthly contract fees. If necessary, I could pop in a cheap throw away PAYG Sim card from another network in this router, If Three network wherever I am at is poor. There are other data sim cards for all of the 4 major networks with 1/6/12/24+ a month data (10Gig-Unlimited data) plans for a one off payment. Also there is a 4 in 1 sim card 6 or12months for a one off payment, that connects to the strongest of the 4 major UK network carriers wherever you are at, but it's a bit pricy. All found on Amazon

Great vlog David thank you. Yet to install a permant solution in my van - currently use Netgear 4G MR1100 which, as you know, is pretty old! Oh... and no external antenna! Obviously performance is a bit hit or miss, but I'm slowly building up the strength to release the funds to buy something more reliable. Explanations and independent reviews such as yours are a great help. Cheers and keep up the good work.

Why not just install Starlink Mini?

We had to give up caravanning in 2022 after 34 years because of my wife's mobility issues, we did stay at Old Hartley on several occaisions laterly as our son went to uni at Durham. We left before the deposit system came into being, it was already expensive before we left, 2 weeks at our beloved Chatsworth on a super pitch was a quite considerable sum of money ! In the summer I called in the Thursaston site (whilst walking the Wirral Way) to buy amn ice cream from the shop and I was told that the caravan club no longer has shops on site as the insurance costs are prohibitive. When we started caravanning wardens would make up, ariel leads, steel awning pegs etc for sale to members. Looking back I think we had the better times with the club. My only regret is that I didn't have a drone back then, now I have three !

Another great video David. We have a Maxview 5G compatible aerial with a Teltonika RUT951 router (which runs off 12v with an isolation switch), with an EE SIM & a Vodafone sim (for switchover). better than hotspotting off my phone.

I installed the same set up in our caravan in September and having checked it out in the house with mains supply, found it to pick up 5G on Smarty, where EE on my phone is patchy with 5G. Home road and is fetch and so get 35mb downloads. I get over a 100 download in the house from the caravan set up and have got 5G on sites where the availability is not shown on maps and have been streaming RUclips and Rugby from Prime and Discovery+ without any problems at all. Found that using 4g on one site was not great as it seems a lot of other outfits were using 4g and affecting bandwidth, so being able to get 5G was a real bonus. I had a DC 5521 cable and got a DC buck for a tenner to give a regulated 12v supply. Fitted an on off supply switch and used an M25 plastic flange nut robbed from a cable gland I had for the spigot mount instead of using the steel nut supplied. Also Sika flex sealed the antenna on the roof, really pleased and the antenna provides a good amount of future proofing.

Interesting video David, thanks. What purpose does the GPS connectivity serve? I’m aware that GPS is degraded by all the metal surrounding you in a PVC, but in practice I find that I always have a strong GPS signal, no matter where I am in the van.

It a shame the GL INet router doesn’t have GPS capabilities, I think I’ll go for the RUT X50 if my RUT 955 ever fails.

Well done David a great video and really interesting how you have installed the router into the van and to give you better internet access which like you is pretty essential with living and working now and also in remote areas making sure you can contact anyone it’s a great upgrade and it does take me by surprise how much you pay for the vans why it’s not standard! I've got exactly the same setup, and from day one, it works a treat. Like you and many others, I enjoy remote working at times and find with 2 sims it's 99% on Poynt with EE and 3, along with O2 in my mobile, got the best coverage I could want. However, the Scottish Highlands and Welsh valleys showed that even the best tech isn't 100%. That's all to do with our poor network coverage, not the kit itself. I am now a proud owner of Starlink Mini, which is the extra 1% I was looking for, at a cost, but you only pay for what you get, right? One question, I've got a 3kw inverter in the van, so it doesn't really make much difference in power supply, so I linked up to 240v. Where did you get the 12v supply lead from? My box didn't come with additional options. Thanks and great vlog, very informative 👍

We have been looking at the new router you have to replace our existing Huawei B535. Glad to hear it’s working well for you.

Hi David. You have a connection I believe to the communications industry, so have a far better knowledge base on the subject, than most. For us, we don’t have any expertise, so for our new CamperVan, we decided to forget cost on condition we just buy once. Additional to a mobile network WiFi, we will buy a star-link as you have also done, to have as an emergency back-up, when in areas of limited mobile antenna coverage. We went for the Avtex AMR105X. This was fitted by professionals who were also adding a 360 reversing camera system. Just waiting on BlueFix to now add an upgraded lithium battery system (£6000+) so power is never an issue. By the time we have added all upgrades we want to our new Van we expect total costs to be £10,000+. But hopefully, by buying high end market specific equipment, straight-off, professionally fitted with warranty security, we only have to buy once and not be on a constant upgrade journey year on year.

A well presented video David. I've the R2500 also a few AP S2000. All used in various situations, including on the road in our auto trail. What I can say, that these are great for wild camping and when LPG is sparce. When used right they offer martini power, anytime any place anywhere. The negatives are recharging. But even that has been improved with an ecoflow or bluetti adaptors connected to the engine battery, which may deliver upto 800w. Also some are using ev charging hubs to recharge in winter, therefore a combination of endless re charging options for part or full time users. With enough of these at home, you can harness domestic roof solar to use as a money saving option, or for power outages. The key to these products is afterservice, without it, you've an expensive device which becomes a large paperweight. Enjoy.

Hi David and Rachel absolutely love Conkers my brother used to live near Ashby de la zouch before he moved to north York’s! We visited many times over the years there’s a lovely national forest centre there and garden centre and walks to moira furnace If you go again I recommend calke abbey NT not far away and Staunton Harold as well - the ferrers arms and Ashby are worth a drive too! It’s amazing how when Paul moved to Ashby the trees had just been planted as the coal mines had closed and now they are full size! Been great to see your video brought back many memories and must take my boys up to see it all the very best to you both Daniel

Hi David and Rachel I know that border point well and it’s much better than the one on the m6 you always have to stop both ways!! Will have to look for the leisure bit sticker next time I am there! The campsite looks lovely and it’s the just of site I enjoy where you can relax and get away from it all it looked spotless clean and a good base to explore from Love a good pub and the fishers arms looked great and the food!
