Redesigning a Chinese facing head to actually work.
Hmm I’m In a similar spot…to return the cam, for one that has the ring already, or try to swap that ring and get it right myself.
Definitely a pain in the butt, I don't know if I can recommend it I mostly did it because I was between a rock and a hard place.
The CNC made it home safely! Thank you again, your YT channel is awesome brother!
Glad to hear it! Thank you.
Nice work as always! Setting up a weldment can be challenging just because nothing is ever "right." Sometimes the hardest part is forcing myself to get over making everything "perfect" and just getting it done. It's far nicer now that you've worked on it than it ever was when it left the factory. Hope you have a good weekend as well! Thanks for the video and for your time to share it with us!
@@evanaustin2636 you nailed it👍
Keep on chooglin'!
good job..thanks for your time
My pleasure
So here’s a question for you. Did you calculate the hypotenuse to get the length of chain such that the beam suspension laid down real pretty or was it your calibrated eyeball? As an engineer and understanding the what and whys, I want to tell you I really appreciate your work.
🤣 thank you, stuff like this kills me when I know it was just slapped together to begin with.
You mean a wild harry ass guess?
I don't see a problem with that, I feel right at home.
So do I, that's the problem 😜
would a laser sight work with taper drive for centering?
It could, I rigged something like that up for a fabrication job a few years ago.
Nice job and clever solution to the awkward centre of gravity. These type of jobs are perfect for an HBM with a rotary table. Bore one side up close, index table 180 degrees, bore the other side up close. It just takes a bit of buggering around to find the centre of rotation of the table relative to the spindle axis. Once you have that in the DRO you can set up multiple jobs (like this one with two parts) and it goes pretty quick. I have a Wotan HBM with a built in rotary table and it is very handy. Ken
I've done that on a smaller scale, I doubt I'll ever have large enough machines to pull it off on stuff this size🙂
Love your videos! I appreciate your narration on how/why you do things. I do learn a lot.. Very interesting. Thanks for making the time to share these!
Thanks for watching!
Was this from a Yocum Bros fertilizer tank?
It was something of that nature but I don't know exactly, I never saw the machine itself.
Might be worth it to put a cheap shed over the mill, like those plastic ones.
I put it in the storage shed.
They make more machines. God doesn’t give you more time. Use it wisely
Exactly
Hate to hear that about the Kearney and Trecker. Would it ever be worth pulling the table and truing up the ways? Maybe if all the wiring wasn't shot...That would scare me the most, I'm not really strong with electrical stuff. Hopefully you can find another one in better shape for what you need to do with it. Thank you for sharing, Sir! I hope you have a good weekend!
The problem with fixing it up is the simple fact that a good one this vintage is probably $5k or less, it just doesn't make sense to put the kind of time and money into this one it would take when you can buy one ready to go that cheap.
Your voice doesn’t match your beard movement.i hate to tell you,you have a lot more cleaning to go. Sorry
🤣 that is definitely the first time I've heard that
I noticed that too. Every now and then the audio was not in sync with the video.
@@hilltopmachineworks2131 I was having holy fits uploading, I wonder if all the internet problems the last couple of days have anything to do with it.
@@perpetualmotion1 Not sure.
That was great work but to be honest I wish you had pushed back a little harder against that ebay seller. You shouldn't let them get away with selling you an incomplete product like that. Now that they've gotten away with passing that off on you they will continue to try to cheat others in the future.
I was in kind of a tough spot, what they sold was miss advertised but I really needed to get the engine back together and I was having trouble finding anything else I could afford. So I just rolled with it.
Hello from Scotland, love lour videos. Those bushes are probably metric at least I've never seen a bush of that type measured in inches.
I thought the same thing but even in metric they didn't come out to reasonable looking numbers. I finally concluded that they were just built to such abysmal tolerances that it was impossible to figure out what dimension they were supposed to actually be.
Lack of maintenance killed it.
Things never seen a grease gun since it left the factory I bet.
Dude your kid is awesome!! Reminds me of myself when I was younger! Thank God I had parents such as yourself that immerse there children in the environment they are in teaching them things that will carry them on for the rest of their lives.
I grew up the same way in my dad's shop, best possible a childhood experience.
Olá amigo muito bom trabalho em família!!! Boa sorte sempre!!!
Thank you 😊
Please talk about wire selection when you weld. That boring machine is great, you don't see many guys with those.
I keep three different wire machines set up, I was running .035 er70 wire on this job, I also have a rig set up with .045 er70 and one set up with 1/16" Lincoln 71 elite dual shield. Because of the thin wall I was forced to use the small wire to keep my interpass temperature under control.
👍👍👍
That thing is awesome
We think so😁
I just got my HBM up and running so absorbing all the tips and tricks you can give.
Awesome!
The skills that Wiggles is learning is invaluable. Imagine what he'll be capable of in just a few short years. Good job, dad!
Thank you 🙂 just trying to give him what my father gave me.
Lovely video, nice to see Wiggles learning stuff on his own.
It makes me happier than you can imagine to see him exploring the shop and leaning.
That's awesome a young kid learning how to use the machines and make stuff.
That's how I grew up🙂
Good info on cast! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I will never understood those that insist on heavy cuts.
Slow and steady wins the race, I just have to relearn that once in a while 🤣
Go Wiggles! I love the imagination, let that run unemcubered! . By the time he graduates high school he will have skill, a job and money while most of his classmates will have no clue. That's how I learned, by doing stuff. That king post is a sure enough candidate for a thicker wall tube transplant or bigger bosses on the ends.
We discussed the idea of an upgrade a lot, it was just such a bugger to accomplish that they decided they would just stay on top of the lubrication and bushing replacement from now on. Poor design for sure.
A tool post grinder sure is a handy tool. Nice work as always! Thank you for sharing, and I hope you have a good one
Thanks, you too!
Wiggles: "No, it was great!!" Priceless!! 🙂
It was a blast 😀
Beautiful, amazing!! Love the shot of Kewpie up at the front! Thanks for sharing!! Looks like you had an awesome time!!
We definitely did
Bus sounds awesome, can’t beat those old buses
She sounds best when you are holding her back back with the engine coming down a big grade, she gets a good rumble going.
From Hot rod sand dune climbers to modifying valve seats. Man you don't let the grass grow under anything Andy. Nicely done.
Except my yard 😬 it is about ready to bale at the moment 🤣
@@perpetualmotion1have the youngster mow it
I actually think the styling and lines on that old bird are much nicer than todays ugly lines and graphics they find they need to apply everywhere. Looks like a keeper
My feelings exactly
Glad you all had a good trip. I bet Wiggles will remember it for the rest of his life!
He absolutely loved it!
Lots of sweat equity 👍
That's the truth!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!
Did I see the post on this rig in the FB group. Good find!!
I went to Texas and looked at that one but didn't buy it, I ended up buying one that is almost its twin that came from Georgia.
@@perpetualmotion1 I live in Ga. Which one did you buy?
@@aircooledantics2830 it was never listed for sale, a gentleman in Georgia saw my RUclips video from the trip to Texas and got in touch with me.
The ol' wanderlodge looks pretty sharp! Nice work, Sir. Hope you have a good trip!

Great job!
Thanks!
Awesome job brother.
Thanks 👍
You have done a great job fixing the old girl up , it’s going to be nice for you and your family to enjoy the fruits of your labor
Thank you for all your help getting us here.
How can you go on vacation when there's so many lines that need boring?? I kid, it's pretty clear you work hard and long hours so a family adventure is well earned. Let us know if you get miles per gallon, or gallons per mile 😀
It's smiles per gallon 😁
Looks good. Have fun and relax.
Thank you, I will
Well deserved break. Have fun.
Thank you, it should be fun.
Nice rig! Climax schlymax...
Thanks😂
