Unadventurous Mandy
Великобритания
Добавлен 25 сен 2015
Hi, I'm Mandy from John and Mandy and this is where I'll be posting videos about me, the menopause, cooking and travelling in my campervan. You can follow me while I try to overcome all of my fears and become maybe a little more adventurous but for the most i'll carry on being my unadventurous self.
UMV119 - What a lovely surprise
We managed to find a couple of days to decompress and catch up with a bit of work, the reservoir parkup was lovely and quiet but the weather was terrible. It was either raining or we were sat in the clouds which wasn't conducive to getting out and about (I do fear I've become a bit of a fair weather person.. sticking with an unadventurous theme of course) John was after a nice bike ride to blow away the cobwebs but he would have been soaked through up there.
The choice was made to try somewhere where the weather looked a bit better - so we chose Skipton! It has been on my list for a while as the central car park is great for campervans and motorhomes and has a lovely canal network running...

UMV118 - Well that’s mature..
Просмотров 6 тыс.День назад
We were looking for something to do after having all of my blood tests as we are finding it hard staying in one location after so long of staying in one location.. I don't think this would have been an issue at all if we were in the house but when we're used to moving around it tends to make us feel stuck. Instagram came to the rescue and showed us that That's Mature Toasties was at a social fo...

After a rather unfortunate start to our travels this time we managed to find a nice quiet spot or two to chill and walk around the small villages. Another trip to the doctors which was amazing to be booked in for the same day! Never had that before. On to more tests to try and get to the bottom of everything. UMV115 - Follow up scan time
Просмотров 6 тыс.Месяц назад
I'd heard it mentioned by a few people who had dealt with cancer before but I really thought I'd just carry on as normal - so far extra tests and things haven't affected me so much, it's been easy to just get them done and worry about the results when they came through. This time hit different though. I was nervous from the day before even though I knew I wouldn't get the results straight away....

If you like planes or Naval History then there is one place you need to go to and that is the Fleet Air Arm Museum. It was incredible! The attention to detail, assortment of displays, hands on interactive items and a full blown aircraft carrier are there for you to see. The only complaint I had was the cafe but thats easily fixed with a flask and some sandwiches. We managed to get a few more ho...

Well, the dates finally came through and we're leaving Cornwall - not before a trip to Trago Mills to spend my birthday money, it definitely deserves its reputation for having everything you might need. After that we started to plot our journey back to Hull, we have 10 days to drive the 6.5 hour journey which will give us a nice buffer for any rest days I might need or any cool detours we see a...
UMV112 - Falmouth and a close call

Now I've been getting a little practice driving locally and about to the shops with John but nothing by myself which considering the drive I will have to do to travel back up North for my follow up scans will be me in the van by myself we thought we'd better work on that too. So what better to do than drag my lovely friend around some tat shops and for some lunch (it's no great hardship - I thi...

I'd always said that I had enough power for my needs then I started working for a place that gave me a massive windows laptop with an external sceen so that changed that a little 😂 However, when given the opportunity to more than double my habitation battery capacity it was an absolute no brainer - especially when the battery doesn't take up any extra space at all! When I went into hospital dow...

We had a few things to keep us occupied this last week - both of us had work to catch up on and my diesel heater decided to not work on it's first use since earlier on in the year. Thankfully the right man for the job was close by and also the man who knows the benefits of carrying spares. It took a few tries to figure it out mainly due to the book showing the wrong error codes relating to the ...

After another week of waiting and trying to figure out ways to move more without damaging myself the stir crazy has set in like a demon! As 2 people who are usually incredibly motivated (ADHD permitting) and used to working and travelling and making the most of every minute, this stagnant time is proving very difficult indeed. We did manage a day out to Marazion and have found that food - albei...
UMV107 - Trying to find the right balance..

It's been a week of trying to find the right balance. We've been going a little stir crazy staying in one place as log as we have and i'm sure John has it worse than I do considering I had a 2 week jolly in the hospital. We decided to go out for the day to Falmouth (and typically didn't record much) as its close by, has decent parking, is flat and has good eateries but even that was a little mu...

Typically for me things didn't go as expected. Usually if someone says it could be this easy or that hard then it's usually the hard way and it seems like its something i just have to get used to. I still feel a sense of shock with what happened if i'm honest, what I thought might be a quick check up and some antibiotics was anything but and a 2 and a half week hospital stay happened instead. Skipton looks lovely x close to us just nowhere I’ve thought to go x long nights are awful but will soon be spring again x keep entertaining us x we love the vlogs x loves to you n the big fella xx
Looks like you guys had a really nice time 😊👍
Hi Mandy, I send you a big virtual hug - my partner has to have an ECG and then a telephone call on the 16th December and I am fingers crossed I want them to say he can go back to work so I will wait and see . Bit low as well as my work colleagues funeral is on Friday xx❤❤
I liked Skipton, stayed in the same car park but I went over to see the lovely lady at Captain Jellyfish to by some dungarees 😀
Awe we love Skipton, lived there for two years while my husband worked in Leeds, only a few weeks ago we were dwn for a visit staying in a beautiful little cottage, it's only a few hours away from us in Scotland we try to get back as often as we can love it x
Looks like the wilderness
Knowing you and your research of alternative natural meds, which I find helpful, you'll already know. But have a look into turmeric. Lots of research on it's anti inflammatory properties, especially when taken with black pepper. Definitely kinder to the tum than NSAIDs like Ibuprofen. X
Thank you, I do already take turmeric with black pepper (curcumin)and have for a while. I use an acupuncture mat, pernaton gel, seamoss, marine collagen and probably something else that’s supposed to help.. to be honest I’m at a loss for what to try naturally next 🤷♀️
I went through so many options and because of gastric and chest issues, I can't take NSAIDs. Codeine eithemakes me dizey or i need to swallow a bomb. TMI 😂Thinking about green lipped mussels. Our dog had arthritis and we saw a marked improvement when using it for him.
10:36 😂😂
That made us laugh that did 🤣
9:43 Even the young swans give the impression that they own the waterway 😊
Bit D. Not bit. Sorry.
Mandy, we’ve been following you and John for years now and have enjoyed it all. Please consider a Vegan diet, which would be far more healthy for you and most likely your condition. There’s evidence for that if you do some research. Start one meal at a time. Sincere best wishes and thoughts.
As the saying that I just made up goes “don’t cry over smashed eggs”😂… don’t get down Mandy, stay positive & strong… sending virtual hugs your way x
Well, I didn't realise how nice skipton centre is. I stayed at a hotel on the outskirts years ago for the night, but after a gourmet meal with drinks rounding up a day touring on the M/bike, bed was the best option. Now we're chugging around in the van, it looks like an appealing stop for a night or two. Thanks for the tip off, and thank for a nice update. Sorry to hear your arthritis is playing up, thats a real knock back after all you've been through recently. Take care now. 👋🇬🇧🇪🇺🇺🇦🇮🇪
Enjoyed watching & great video as per usual 😁 … take care x
Kudos to you Mandy for getting out & about on your own catching up with friends & family but I bet it was lovely to meet back up again with John ❤
Hari Om I do like a boat ride... Skipton now on my list! YAM xx
Mandy, if you're suffering so much pain , especially through the night, have you asked to be checked for fibromyalgia? X
They’re going through the tests at the mo.. with the Chemoradiation and sepsis having painful joints and neuropathy as side effects, that seems to be where they’re looking first but if nothing comes I’ll mention that too - thank you ❤️
Good to see you enjoying yourself, Mandy. Skipton is one of my favourite places. They have a fantastic art show if you are ever there again. Art in the Pen takes over the Auction Mart two or three times a year. ilona
Oh how nice, that looked amazing. ❤❤ xx
❤
We love Skipton. Great park-up and lovely friendly town. Great food as you said X
It was amazing
Hi there from Australia. I understand the arthritis thing. It’s a pain getting older, but carry on regardless 😂😂😂😂😘😘😘😘
You guys need a narrowboat to complement your travelvlogs - the best of both worlds!
We did spend a week on one with some friends once.. it was great fun
I've been to Skipton many, many times over my 70 years. Sometimes, I used to cycle there along the canal towpath. Other favourite haunts are such as Wycoller, Bolton Abbey, Hebden Bridge, Holmfirth and Haworth. Does help when I live fairly close by 😂
Thanks for sharing, Skipton is now on my list. Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Mandy so nice to see you are getting better.Skipton looks lovely. Enjoy your travels. X
Lovely video Mandy. That boat trip looked fantastic. Have to look it up. Keep Loving the Adventure
Love Skipton, but preferably in the summer months. We stayed at Niffany Farm which has all the facilities, a nice view of the canal and is walkable into Skipton. I think you need a bit of sunshine on those achy joints Mandy ☀️
Hi Mandy, Hi John, Mandy, it is really lovely to see you looking a lot brighter with colour in your cheeks 🙂 & so glad you both enjoyed your afternoon tea boat trip take care Lin 💖
Your in a beautiful part of England Mandy I envy you and John. I used to work for a Boatyard down south that had 4 Trip boats I was one of the turnaround engineers stroke Trip Skippers and I loved taking the old folk out on the Cream Tea runs, we also did wedding parties in the evenings with a small disco onboard, great times… stay well Mandy and all the best to John 😊
👍🚐😎
The Dales are lovely in nice weather - A few spots we used to enjoy that are worth checking out next time - Grassington is very nice, our dog Jet loved it there - nice walk by the river from the main car park. Nice walk by the river at Kettlewell too - parking by the Garage on the way in - when you are more active there is a good walk up to 'The Split' from the Garage - amazing views from the top. Kilnsey has some nice walks (and maybe bike ride) . Hope the sun continues to shine so you can get out and about a bit more and avoid cabin fever 🙂
Since I've been watching people enjoying life in van,s and cars, I've realised that if I could reset my life I,d of learnt to drive and got myself a van and a job that I could of done on a computer and just travel and be as free as possible
Skipton is a lovely place, they even have a pork pie shop that sells hot pork pies . One of my favourite places , Bolton abbey think they have acouple of free camper bays there . The Dales is a beautiful place.
So nice to have a blog from Mandy. That town looked nice and the boat ride was a great idea. I would have a hard time dealing with all of the rainy and grey days that I think you have. Of course we have them too but perhaps not as much. Look forward to the next video.
Excellent scenery, excellent food, excellent music, Epic.know where you are coming from with arthritis pain in fact only this morning me and the dog were comparing notes on who had the worst arthritis pain. You seem to be a little brighter every week petal.
Really loved the documentary and you both continue to inspire me to be brave with life decisions. Great to see you looking well too
mandy that looked like a lovely boat trip xx
good see you got vlog on channel keep up the great vlogs thanks for share on channel
Skipton looks lovely. Noticed the EV chargers in the carpark 💚. Seeing the ginger cat made me sad. Our ginger farm cat had to be collected by the charity who we adopted her from last week. She had lost a lot of weight and wobbly. No ‘pets’ at all here now, and I am missing the cuddles 😢
Hi..copper bracelets help in regards aches and pains I have worn one for years and no more aches and pain. Regards lyn(NZ)
Thanks Lyn, I’ve been wearing one for years and although it worked for a while, it’s doesn’t help much now
Great thing you weren't along the east coast of Sweden these past two days, we only got 40 cm of snow and close to hurricane winds. I think it's safe to say that winter really is here...
Your cream tea cancel boat trip looked lovely. Hope you didn't get snowed on today.
That canal boat trip looked fantastic, with lovely grub ❤
Ant do without with Starlink. I’ve got ver 2 and love it. Best thing I got for my MH
Hi ya
Ah Slaithwaite - Mum is from a few villages over (Meltham), I think those in the village call it Slowett, those nearby Slath-wait. You seem to be following my path with the B9 & B12 deficiency, that was me 10 years or so ago. I'm wondering if its a common menopause thing? Though it might be more a bad diet thing for me then! I read recently that gas and air does something to B12 too. I periodically have to have the B9, and I take a B12 melt in the mouth nugget every day - makes a difference to my energy levels and brain fog. I know of lots of people with CFS/ME who have the B12 shots and it makes a huge difference to their symptoms. You need B12 and B9 for Iron absorption/red blood cells etc. My top tip is eat less carbs and lots more protein and veggies and a lot of your symptoms will improve through menopause and beyond. I've found this out over the last 10 years - the more excess weight you have on (I've lost 30kg since then) the worse the symptoms are - especially hot flashes, night sweats, energy, muscle aches, mood changes, brain fog etc. I've also found I sleep better when I eat better and keep the less healthy stuff for treats, not every day 🙂A good GP is worth their weight in gold at this stage of our lives. I get blood test results the next day via an app the GP uses, I can also get my (brain MRI) scan summary and images a few days after I have them too, though I have to request them 🙂 Hope the B12 shots give you a boost ❤
I have been toying with the idea keto for a while but I keep buying bread and noodles. I’ve been adding in lots of chia seeds and ground linseed so it seems my B12 is bouncing back nicely but I’m still suffering with the aches and sweats. I will pull my finger out and eat better soon, I still feel like I missed out on so much from April to September ❤️❤️
Great to see the old you shine thru x love the new air fryer x so versatile x where is the Xmas market you are going to at x hope to see you at shows next year x luvs to you both xx
Hari OM When buying my Tower, it was during a sale on the larger size - making it cheaper than the size you have... I'm glad I opted for that, albeit a slightly more cumbersome unit. Of course, ALL airfryers are also toasters, bakers, grillers etc. Chefree seems to think most folk don't know that... but it is a very neat looking bit of kit! I love my yeast flakes - I particularly like mashing them in with avocado, a bit of cream cheese and some Worcestershire sauce, spread on toast. mmmmmmmmmmmmm YAM xx
