The Assad regime has fallen and Bashar al-Assad, an important Russian ally, has left the country and fled to Moscow. With Bashar al-Assad out of the country, and opposition Syrian rebels, Hayʼat Tahrir al-Sham, taking over the country, the Russian regime might be losing its influence in the region. Why was the R...

    The nostalgia for the past is people remembering the good things but forgetting the bad things that went with the past. I think not enough was done to help people transition from the planned economy to a capitalist economy. I remember at the time there was a lot of emphasis on the bad east German system like the opening up of the Stasi files distracting the people from how much their lives were going to change. Yes the Stasi was gone but so was the guaranteed employment.

    Yes, that’s the reality. The reason there’s a war is because the majority of Russians support it. It takes one nation to wage war towards another. These people also refuse to take any accountability for all their mistake that could’ve saved lives on both sides. They just double down on their mistakes and pretend nothing happened.

    I am from Kharkov, I have not left the city since the first days, I have traveled to Kyiv and around the country several times. Unfortunately, there are 2 Ukraines, one was mobilized since 2014, another part joined them after 22, the rest is playing at war. They like to be "incredible Ukrainians", they teach what kind of Ukrainians should be even to me, who has been warning them and preparing them for this hypothetical war since 2014. Unfortunately, Zelensky, together with the old government, became the president of that Ukraine. It's time for him to go. There are things worse than betrayal, these are mistakes made at historical moments for the country. And he doesn’t want to admit it to himself, and for this I despise him.

    "The streets of Kyiv seem normal in wartime, the cafe's and busses are full." This statement is exactly why Ukraine is on the backfoot all across the frontline. Ukraine is outnumbered on the battlefield but they refuse to mobilise like the US has repeatedly asked them to. Months ago Zaluzny forsaw this and suggested a mobilisation of 500 000 people and he lost his job for his efforts. Ukrainians need to wake up and realize that they are fighting an existential war but somehow people in Kyiv acting like it's business as usual.

      Mobilization is not exclusively about the manpower, hundreds of thousands of men were drafted but millions others adult men weren't, not because that's someone's decision but mobilization requires resources, weapons, logistics, training centres. Besides, someone's gotta still be teaching kids at school, fix people's teeth, drive a bus and so on

    • @HazeKasaki
      @HazeKasaki 6 дней назад

      @МихаилКаганович-э1я During the second world war the Soviets and the Britts were fighting a war of survival. They switched entirely to a wartime economy. Every single industry that wasn't directly beneficial to the war effort was suspended (schooling, dentistry, even fuel was rationed etc.) What good is education when your people are being massacred? When it comes to the topic of mobilization. The reason Ukraine gave for not doing it, is something along the lines of not sacrificing their future by drafting those under 25, as that would significantly hurt their demographics. The argument that they need weapons first before mobilization is incorrect. During the first days of the war, Ukraine recruited hundreds of thousands of volunteers in a matter of weeks before the bulk of aid was given by the west. Why is now any different?

    • @МихаилКаганович-э1я
      @МихаилКаганович-э1я 6 дней назад

      @ The vision is required for the war. I believe that nowadays it's going on by inertia from both sides. Without a vision, there's no point of sacrificing everything for the war effort. And during the first weeks of the war, both Russia and Ukraine were loaded with old Soviet equipment, which has shrinked. There's no point of drafting a guy if he can't get helmets, vests, weapons, tourniquets. Just a waste of a human being. Not to mention, that there is a public opinion, which is strongly against mass mobilization, especially of the youth. The government has to listen to them in order to avoid mass protests. Me, personally, I believe that we should start negotiations with Russia and get a truce

If Trump's plans are to be followed which, I highly doubt will happen, the war still ends along the current front lines and Ukraine still wont be in NATO. • @elafinPL
      @elafinPL 6 дней назад

      @ There are thing more important than peace and some of them are freedom, right to self determination and independence. Do you blame the victim of a robbery when he stands up for himself and protects his belongings from thief and gets beaten up in the process ? Ukrainians were attacked by Russians trying to steal their values and russyfie them. The people of Ukraine didn't want to surrender to the opressor and neither did their goverment. They choose the hardships of war instead of Russian occupation. They saw what happend in Bucha, they seen what Russian ocupation looks like and they decided they will go aganst them in this uneven fight. If you don't understand why people do that then try learing some history

    • @HazeKasaki
      @HazeKasaki 6 дней назад

      @@elafinPL if the victim of a robbery has no means of successfully fending off his aggressor and tries to anyway, he is a fool. Not only will he lose his property, he will lose his life too. That is what Ukraine has done. The fact of the matter is, Ukraine has a weaker military than Russia and cannot possibly hope to resist it indefinitely, the only thing they are doing is delaying the inevitable. Also, not all Ukrainians have chosen to fight in this war. Some are dragged into recruitment vans kicking and screaming and others that do, approximately 100 000 of them, have deserted because they don't want to fight a losing war. There are also those that want to negotiate but their president made a decree outlawing any negotiation with Russia. I am not defending Russia's actions. I am saying Ukraine should have been realistic and known in advance what was going to happen to their country if they chose to fight instead of negotiate.

    US generals have said that Ukraine lost the war in 2024. Azov battalion has said that the only thing keeping Russia from sweeping the country is the fortifications and trench's that are on the cusp of collapsing as we speak. Ukrainians are leave Ukraine cause they don't want to fight in a losing war. Especially since Zelensky is an unpopular president and is actively selling the state out to private companies of the west, like the past 34 years of Ukrainian presidents have done since the end of socialism and the Ussr in Eastern Europe. Ukraine population was at 50 million in 1989 and has declined since. Capitalism made Ukraine go from one of the richest and most developed countries in Europe to having the same HDI as states in central America and Africa, that that was before 2022, its gotten worse since then. what makes him different is that NAZIS have a chance of taking power. Nazis who look to Israel and its genocide of Palestinians as a model for the future Ukrainian state, a state that would persecute Russians, poles, ryussans, roma, LBGT+ and any other minority groups, there's a reason why some Ukrainian officials have stated that "Ukraine is closest chance we have to creating an Aryan state within the next 20 years'. Zelensky is even worse then other "strongmen of the former ussr" cause he has banned pretty much all opopptison to him and makes fake polling numbers to make himself more popular (he so unpopular that the western leaders in private has said he's annoying)., at least in Russia, there are still a few party's that openly criticize Putin(those being the communists and the liberals). This war is nothing but an imperialist war between the empire of America and the Russian federation over who can control the resources underneath the soil of the Donbass. The people want an end to the war quickly, and if all it took was a phone call to end the genocide in Gaza, the same can be done for the Donbas.

    Honestly it's not worth it at this point. Ukraine is a failed state. It cannot support itself monetarily, it cannot defend itself against a 140mil nuclear state. The war has done irreparable mental damage and collapsed the population pyramid, which was in a sad state even before the war. The government isn't far from ingsoc, literally inventing new words to discriminate against its own people, imprisoning activists who call out their bs and illegitimacy. People freeze to death in the carpathians trying to escape to the west. Civilians are routinely being kidnapped from streets on a spot and sent to die without proper training and equipment .The government raises taxes and sloses buainesses, the prices on common goods are on par with EU, while the median wage is about 500$. The best case scenario was to sign the peace treaty in 2022. Now the only reason the west doesnt let it die is because ukraine is so deep in debt that the war's investirs want some cashback. Anybody who defends this totalitarian dictatorship is either an idiot which can't comprehend what's going on, or a war profiteer.
