Because my wife is a White woman. Im sure there are plenty of other white women that live in Quito, but I don't know them to get their perspective. As a black man, my perspective on places we travel to can differ vastly from that of my wife's. Also I think it was good to hear the perspective of a woman/mother. You could have kept the "Boo Hoo" comment as I feel we did what any good parents would have done in that situation....but I totally understand your sentiments. My wife and I lived in Chicago for 4 years and we are very familiar with the violence that is prevalent in the US. I just want to make sure you understand, I feel the same as you. Which is why I took my two young children, and wife to the beautiful country of Ecuador. It was a shame we felt we had to leave so abruptly. As soon as we returned to the states, the Kansas City Parade shooting happened.....Unfortunately violence is prevalent all over the planet but we will continue to travel to experience all the beauty this world has to offer.
