I’m from Ecuador and I really have to say that what these video have a lot of good information. Almost all what they said is true. In terms of security I’d add the fact that, when you are in the street, you have to be as carefull as possible. If there is no one in a street or a place there is a reason and it’s better to don’t walk that direction. You have to be aware of walking in the afternoon or even taking a taxi could be dangerous after 7 pm. Uber is not expensive at all and offers more security possibilities than taxis, so much better that way. Quito is a beautiful city, I lived there 18 years and my best suggestion is, always be aware and do all carefully with respect practice your Spanish bc it’s could be a nightmare to find someone who speak English :). Hope you the best and enjoy

Thanks you all. I"m in Michigan. 5df. Snow starting. Got my EC Visa. Moving to EC. Appreciate your info. Hope you are in EC for awhile. Happy New Year. Peace.
Praying God continues to cover you, keeping you safe especially since the latest happenings at the news station. Hoping those types of incidences stay far far away from you all. Enjoy your travel!
You can have good breakfasts in Quito, but they are not US breakfasts, unless you go to an US franchise like International House of Pancakes (Ihop). You will find a lot of Quito breakfasts everywhere. There are variations depending on the Ecuadorian region you're visiting.
Yes we have figured that out. It took me a bit to realize we don’t need a typical American breakfast. Strictly Almuerzos for us! Thank you again for taking the time to comment! Please subscribe to our channel! We appreciate the comments and the love! 🙏🏿🇪🇨
You give a good name to visitors. So glad to have you. I have lived in northern Ecuador in an all Spanish neighborhood, in a tourist town for twelve years. To me Quito is just another New York, L.A. or Miami, with the same basic problems. I am safe to walk in my town at any time of day or night. I live on a main intersection and many days I do not lock my door. I have never had a problem in all of my years here. Temperature has to do with elevation. The coast is just like Miami Beach. I live at 7,900 feet and it has dipped into the 30sF at times in our winter season. The higher you go, the colder it gets. Life is easier outside of Quito. Almuerza is just lunch. Every lunch has a "menu del dia" special. All you have to do is ask as it is popular. Vegetarian lunch is no problem. There is a tax and it is 12% and possibly going up. I have never paid at any bathroom, so you must get out of Quito. You sound like great people. Stop at some towns north of Quito. Life is different. And much more family oriented as you come north. More laid back. More North Americans and more moving here every day.

Hey! Cool video. My wife is from Quito and studied at Kalamazoo. We come to Quito every year for a couple of months and will be coming soon, late Jan/early Feb. I like to play basketball. Will yall still be around?
Hello Dave! Thanks for checking us out and commenting! We are unfortunately headed to the south of the Country for the remainder of our trip, but we do plan to come back at some point. Do you two ever visit Kalamazoo/Michigan? Either way we really appreciate the love and support! Please subscribe if you get a moment. We wish you the best on your travels! Please stay in touch!❤️🙏🏿
@TheWrightDestination we loved the southern part of Ecuador. Loja and Vilcabamba were really cool! And we loved the coast. We stayed 9 days in Ayampe. Cuenca was awesome too! Driving in Quito was way to crazy for me 😂
The city looks beautiful! You mentioned being a pedestrian, Mexico is the same way in most of the country from what I gather, they don't have the right of way either. Great tips, you guys! I hope that you had a great Christmas and I wish you a Happy New Year!!
@@TheWrightDestination I thought I did!🤗 I'll look and make sure.👍 Our family is praying about a place to move out of the US. Top choice used to be the Azores, but it's just too cold there for us Floridians. I hate spiders, but Ecuador is looking good, otherwise.
It made me laugh that you said we have only almuerzos, we do eat breakfast, but it’s different than what you’re used to, it’s true we have savoury breakfast usually with green platain, corn humitas 🫔, etc. In the coast they serve soup for breakfast, like encebollado, haha I know it might seem crazy to foreigners. I agree that the food in Ecuador is great quality! Welcome guys
Thank you so much for this informative video. I am planning my first trip to Quito in May. As a “white” girl w/ Michigan ties (Lived in Wyoming and Chelsea for about 20 years), I love this video! I will be staying in a condo near La Carolina Park for almost three months. I am a very savvy solo traveler and am really looking forward to this adventure. Do you all have any recommendations? (Of course, other than byo-sunscreen. *giggles) I appreciate your channel. Keep creating your dream life. Love and ((HUGS)), Laura Foster Founder of Souls Healing Humanity

I have a fairly dark complexion and burned the back of my neck at the secret garden hostel, Cotopaxi. I had been in the country 20 days when it happened. I bought a hat the very next day 😂
I know right! We should have know! We just didn’t think about it and none of the videos we watched mentioned that point😩🤣. Thanks for checking out our content!
Lmao no not kidding at all! We are traveling with two little ones. We tried to be prepared and informed about everything we could. All we heard about was the elevation and the weather. Some things just slipped through the cracks😩. We love Ecuador! Thank you for checking out our content and please subscribe if you get a moment! Thanks again
Im a white women witj blind hair and white pale skin. My husband is as light as I and he is Ecuadorian. You have e to talk to do the walk. Gringos will get gringo prices. I’ve been married for 30 years to an Ecuadorian and traveñilgng for the past 20 years with tons of family in each section. Blancos es blancos
Hello! That’s that Midwest accent😅🙌🏿 we are both born and raised in Michigan! Thank you for checking out our content! Please like and subscribe if you get a moment!🙏🏿 where are you from?
Because my wife is a White woman. Im sure there are plenty of other white women that live in Quito, but I don't know them to get their perspective. As a black man, my perspective on places we travel to can differ vastly from that of my wife's. Also I think it was good to hear the perspective of a woman/mother. Other than that I wouldn't think too much more into it lol. We appreciate you taking the time to check out our content. Please like and subscribe and stay tuned for more adventures!
Quito is one of the safest cities in Ecuador if not the most. A good percentage of the population in Quito are Spanish or from Spanish European descent meaning there’s plenty of white people to be afraid, so your wife should feel quiet all-right. . As a white person you feel more harassed and endangered in Los Angeles, let that sink in for a little bit. You are in good hands my friend! 🫵🏻😎🍺
