We’re just an ordinary family that loves going out and enjoying God’s creation. We enjoy doing things as a family including our current project of building a camper out of a wrecked suburban. We will be documenting this project as well as some of our trips in it. We’ll also share some of our adventures and how we do things with the kids. We hope you enjoy it and that in some way we can be a blessing to you.
Setting up the World's Largest Rooftop Tent - CVT Tents 3 Sisters Tent
Here's how we set up our new roof top tent. This is the biggest tent on the market, and it requires a little more effort than some to set up. We have now tested it and we can sleep our entire family of 8 in this monster. Once the kids grow little we may not fit anymore but for now we can tackle some adventures without the camper.

I Never Want To Be Forced To Do This

#gardening #grilling #dadlife Life isn’t always adventures on the road for us. We get out as often as we can because we really enjoy camping, hiking etc. One thing I never want to do is to just do things for the camera. Creating content does help encourage us to go more frequently but to force it when it’s not the best for our family is wrong. So here’s a glimpse of what a weekend looks like wh...

Geyser Shower System - Is It Any Good?

We purchased a Geyser shower system about a year ago. Here are our thoughts on it. This is a very unique setup that provides an efficient way to take a shower. It doesn't take up a lot of space and it makes it easy to maximize your water usage and minimize waste. Both of the factors are very important to us especially having 6 kids along for the ride. ruclips.net/video/ljOeFZfAr4M/видео.html Nice set, I have something similar, my children are very happy.
Amazon has painted back bumpers cheap. That one on your burb is toasted 😂
Yep, and this is what they look like after a few years! We're going to build a high clearance swing out rear bumper but we haven't had time yet.
Totally understand “forced content”. It’s why we do not produce regular content and or frequent content. The hours of time and competing with thousands is not our goal.
Yep, the point isn't to make content and the type of content we want has to be genuinely produced.
@@trove1312 totally agree. It’s also why our channel remains small but that’s okay. We are okay with that.
Man... Watching that ole 800 eat up those trails makes me wanna get out there and do stuff like that. I have an '03 Tahoe. 4x4, autoride suspension, but no locking diff. I have a feeling I'd end up in hot water if I tried something like this 😅 great vids brother keep it up 👍🏻
You can definitely get in trouble in a hurry! I know from experience!
@@trove1312 I definitely wouldn't do the kinda stuff you do, but I do take my 'hoe off road when I get the chance. Just out of curiosity, how often do you break stuff out on the trails, and what usually breaks? My 'hoe is my only means of *reliable* transportation. Just trying to get an idea of how much I'm in for if I decide to go off the beaten path...
It’s because you don’t allow the biscuits to rise. Thaw rise bake. Simple
These weren't designed to rise. The instructions say to bake them frozen.
Great review! Especially helpful regarding the wife using the unit! You explained the situation perfectly hahaha! Yes, must keep the wife happy! Best of luck always to you and your family in your travels.
Thanks for watching!
The biggest problem you have is removing the hot air inside the suv So it’s mixing with the little bit of cold air you are getting in making it basically room temperature. The ac you have isn’t that great meaning it’s not powerful enough to suck the hot air out the SUV and restricting the front of the ac your losing even more of the ability to suck the hot air out of the suv, you would need a bigger ac that has more power to suck the hot air out and push cold air into the SUV. Also the longer that pipe is coming into the suv with the cold air the hotter it will get especially if you use it during the day and for a good amount of time that pipe is going to get hot if the sun is hitting it and even if no sun ☀️ is hitting it the air will still get hotter the longer the pipe is Your best option but a portable ac that is made for this situation
There aren’t any that are made for this unfortunately. It works very will with a couple in line booster fans to help with the flow
Keep up with these, everyone says these old Chevy are useless piles on anything more than a gravel road, keep showing trail footage of what you get your two suburbans into
We will!
We really enjoy your videos including this one . I have to ask about the electric outlet mounted to the lawnmower ?
That's so funny you noticed! I bought the mower used and the previous owner had set that up as a plug for a sprayer trailer. They just hooked 12v to it. Don't know why they used those particular parts but if it works it works.
I saw another video on this oven, he made a pitza stone from one he got at aldies , he sized it to fit in the bottom of the oven, he he used a wet tile saw to cut it .
There is a pizza stone on Amazon that fits perfectly as well. that’s what we use in our second oven now
Doing the math on the HEATED unit specs listed on the official website yields a power draw of less than 120 watts. The minimum rating of a standard 12v vehicle outlet (cigarette outlet) is typically rated from 120 watts to 240 watts. It appears that Geyser anticipated the low range and this unit should theoretically work with any vehicle 12v outlet without overloading the system. I wouldn't anticipate you having issues with your vehicle running the heater.
Yes it will but I don't want to run my vehicle just while I'm heating up my water. I would rather use propane for heat and not use my battery up or have to idle my vehicle. It's just a personal preference for me but it would certainly work
Patty pan squash
Are you chemical free on the garden? We cannot keep the squash bugs under control. Probably stop growing squash/zucchini
We try to avoid spraying chemicals but we have on occasion. If we can find a more natural way to get rid of bugs we usually try to go that route.
@@trove1312 squash bugs are always my biggest battle. And this years those green caterpillars are tearing up my potatoes.
Beautiful place. Gotta be great to live there ! What is the tongue weight on your trailer ?
We're thankful to live out in the country with enough space to do things like this.
I actually haven't weighed it yet so I'm not sure.
This is so awesome, super strange feeling seeing you roll through dover, never thought I’d see that on a RUclips video
This is awesome man. Thanks for the informative video And the kids' comedic relief was awesome too haha
I’ve done this before with half the work, for most people. Drill a hole in your a/c on the top. Cover the outport with sheet metal to block it off. Then I covered the return with sheet metal as well with a 4” duct fitting for flex hose. Cheaper and works great. I’ve never noticed it hurting the ac to restrict the flow of the return to 4”. Also after securing the sheet metal down with self tappers I caulk all the edges. I’m watching your video because I’m trying to find a way to have the portable ac on a stealth van. I’m leaning towards just drilling holes through the floor like you’ve done and then some how disguising the A/c on a hitch luggage rack or something along with a hidden generator for when solar is unavailable. Good video!
Good idea
This is literally my plan as well. My car has these little rubber grommets in the tire well that I will probably end up widening to run some lines through
@@Justin-vq9conice I’d love to hear how it goes. I’m toying with several ideas. Searching high in low for inspiration. I use the one I made for camping and I’ve run it through the windo of the car to sleep in as well. Love that AC!
This was GMs biggest mistake. The 5.3 (pre DOD) is pretty reliable, BUT the 6.0 should have been offered as a standalone option for every trim level of suburban. I have an 07 NNBS VORTEXMAX Silverado and my wife has a 5.3 08 Suburban. That 6.0 belongs in the suburban. The 5.3 in our 08 doesn't even compare to the 5.7 that we had in our 98 suburban.
Just FYI, I have seen a couple drag and drive half ton trucks,( and a Cadillac), that were well over 600hp, and the half ton drivetrain seems to hold up fine. The caddie was well above 1000hp, and still running stock front diff, cv axles, and rear end(with a billet yoke and big u joints) Towing on the other hand......a heavier duty rear axle definitely helps the load carrying capacity.
Yep I think it will hold up but we will see. Dragging our camper around in 4lo has to put some pretty serious strain on the driveline. So far though we haven’t had any issues.
Great info. Was thinking about doing this for my Z71 that I want to overland and tow with. Alco considered buying a bigger tow rig like Excursion/Super Duty which may happen. I have an 05 Suburban Z71, 07 Yukon that I plan to keep as a pavement princess. I had great experience with Fords 4.6L 2v. I miss the crew cab 4x4 F150 I had and lost during a bad time in my life. My OBS Silverado barely gets driven now as I daily the Suburban. I want to keep the Suburban on a small 3" lift and 285/75 tires and the Yukon on 37 all terrain tires for a retro K5 dedication build, I don't want a terrible ride quality tho and still would like to take it on long trips from time to time.
ive got a 01 2500 hd with the 6.0 and they are indestructible ive beat on it since i got it and my dad beat on it before me theyre probably top 3 gm truck motors
Yep they are solid motors.
How heavy of a load bent that?
I don’t know, it was bent when I bought it
Can't wait to see it out on the trail! Good job!
Have you had experience with a 6.2? I’m in the fence between 6.0 suburban vs 6.2 Denali
I do not, haven’t owned one yet
@@trove1312 Ok thank you
If you get a 6.2 get the non dod version. But you still can't go wrong with 6.0. The 6.0 is coming down in price as everyone wants the 6.2 engine. The LQ4 is a lower HP version of the LQ9 or the LY6 was the truck VortexMax. Finding a 6.0 from a full-size van is usually a good cheap option as they get overlooked.
Good info. I have a 2000 Suburban that I bought for a camping rig. It has the 5.3 and I'm pretty happy with it. I do plan to make some mods eventually, lift, bigger brakes, and wheels.
Nice build ! What problems where you having before the ecm swap/tuning ?
It wasn’t controlling the 4l80e properly. Inconsistent shifts and wasn’t shifting into all the gears. The 6.0 programming changes were pretty easy, The transmission was the problem.
The video I have been waiting for! God bless and thank you.
**Correction: Transfer case is 246, I don’t know where I came up with 471 number!
do you know if it works over a charcoal grill?
I don’t know
My wife and I have been patiently waiting for the "Cooking with Sarah" channel for a couple of years now! lol We always enjoy the family cooking parts. The kids are growing so fast now. God bless!
Thanks, Sarah loves cooking but I don't know if we'll do a full on cooking channel. Maybe we'll do some cooking episodes though.
i have a 04 Z71 suburban and plan on doing this with it. awesome channel you have going on.
Thanks!
How long does this roof rack take to ship?
I don't remember exactly how long mine took but they do take a little while. I believe they build them to spec when they are ordered. Worth the wait though!
I was at Cossatot last Friday. The falls area doesn't have much room for a turnaround. I was in my Suburban and parked there to look at the falls. There was limited parking and I don't think you could swing a trailer around there.
Good to know, we saw the sign that said no trailers so we didn't go in there but it was a bit of a bummer not to see the falls. We'll just have to make trip back, it was a holiday when we were there so too many people anyway
@@trove1312 The falls are a series of rock ridges that the river flows over. Lots o pools to swim in and rocks to climb on. It's a really nice place!
Bro you slow learner on how to step up the oven.
One thing you might want to try is either bisquick or wampum biscuts, Those prefrozen things in a bag Should be relligated to bird feed
We make ours from scratch, I just used frozen biscuits as an example in the video.
enjoy the videos. keep them coming .
Thanks, will do!
Getting an infomercial vibe but please continue.....
Awesome set up, beautiful kids. Dont fix . . . send back. Especially wields. If they are a decent company they will send you a new one. Its also good for the company to see a failure so they can improve their product.
Great channel. Just started watching your videos today. I have a 2000 suburban also. I use it for camping. May I ask what do you use for a gas tank skid plate? or do you have one ? The places you go looks like you would need one. You sure know how to drive that suburban off road. Great channel.
I don't have one, it's always been a concern but I've never had the time or money to do anything about it. I think Baseline just came out with or is coming out with a full skid plate kit for this generation.
The 6.0 swap seems to be working good now! Was it worth it? Would you recommend it? Would you do it again? God bless!
Those are good questions. I'll probably make a video about the pros and cons at some point. For me it was worth it but that's partially because I had everything sitting around that I needed for it. I might do it again but it depends on the situation.
@@trove1312 thanks, my friend! I would like to see that video.
It's very fortunate that I found your channel. I didn't know about that beautiful lake nimrod. I'm about a hour away from it. Probably going to check it out next weekend.
It’s a neat little lake. Supposed to be good fishing.
I'm building my own rig right now out of a 2500. Is there anything you wish you would have done different with the camper set up? I would love to pick your brain sometime. haha
There are a couple things. I would probably do the tongue a little different and make it a few inches shorter if I did it again. I would also not try to insulate the inside of the doors with spray foam, it creates water drainage issues that I didn't think about originally. Other than that I'm super happy with the setup. The biggest problem is it's heavy and there's no getting around that.
Thanks for making this vid, for two reasons: not only is it full of useful info, but it just plain feels good to see you interacting with your happy kids. Well done Sir.
Thanks
Cedar falls is nice, but not the most impressive waterfall in Arkansas
What is the most impressive then?
Just curious, How did you get registration for this? Is it still under the regular title and have plates like a car or a trailer.....
Homemade trailer. Some states may vary on rules for that though
AGAIN?!?!?! Your beautiful wife, barefoot, fording swollen waters, while you stay high and dry?!?!?! I knew if I watched long enough I’d catch you at it again.
Loved the little picture moment on the bench! Making memories!
Finally seen ya'll going down the road in person. We loved the set up. Looks great going down the road for sure.
Thanks 👍
If it Clean those stinky kids it’s gotta be great. 😉
Im struggling to find a good shower solution too, currently using a 15 gallon spot sprayer and instant hot water heater :). Works so far, just alotta water waste, so figuring that out :)
So looking on there website, they have a shower head conversion kit, so im thinkin of tryin that out. 15 gallons, on a instant water heater with the sponge would prolly work better them a showerhead :)
Yes the sponge idea definitely helps cut down on water loss vs a traditional shower head. I like where you're going with this!
Il keep ya updated :)
