Fun video but I have no answers of my own off the top of my head. I have however been crawdad hunting as a child helping my grandfather catch bate for fishing. You get yourself a stick with a forked end, go find a creek, and get your feet wet trapping these helpless creatures in your forked stick.
@@Montie-Adkins thank you !! and wow i didn’t even know that was a thing, interesting!
What a delightful, creative video concept! I enjoyed “Brideshead Revisited” too - a complex, deep novel. “ The Talented Mr Ripley” is another personal favourite, I really believe that the book anticipates many distasteful trends that have become so prevalent on social media in terms of image, social deception and the obsession with the superficial world. The Matt Damon/ Jude Law film is also great fun with a truly exceptional cast. I’ve lust bought “Ripe” for my kindle- it sounds great! Get well soon & please keep up the wonderful work!

Such a great list for winter ❄️ I’ve read most of these…Crime and Punishment, Catcher, and The Road are in my top books of all time. Eileen is on my TBR and glad you enjoyed it. I don’t think I’m a Keegan fan after reading Small things and Foster. I’m re-reading Rebecca and My Cousin Rachel as Daphne is one of my all-time favorite authors for a slow burn, haunting, dark days, winter read. The Frozen River is an excellent winter read for those who like historical fiction and the audiobook is also a fantastic listen. Happy holidays and thanks as always for your excellent content!!

omg finally someone who hates the same popular books as I do!! I'm tired of pretending daisy jones and the six wasn't the biggest waste of potential I've ever seen. @@Alexqzd-mi1ni loooool
You are so right crime and punishment is soo well matched with winter. I feel like Russian literature in general just fits with the darker winter months. Something about Russians and the cold...
@daisyd3w3491 agree !! they know what’s up
The onset of winter is certainly an ideal opportunity for reflection and undertaking a review of the past year. It’s a time for taking stock. Russian literature is made for winter! “Crime and Punishment” is one of my all time favourite books - it’s a compelling mix of plot and philosophy. By any chance, are you planing on reading “The Brothers Karamazov” soon? Great video! Thank you!
@@jackreillygillic thank you so much !! the brothers karamazov is actually the book i’d like to read in january! i’ll hopefully let you know my thoughts on it soon 🤠
Yesss I'm reading crime and punishment write now just got it few days back 😭❤
ooo enjoy !!
read Small Things Like These last year and got Foster immediately but I’d been saving it for December. also, try Brothers Karamazov if you haven’t read it yet, it’s veryyy introspective 🫶🏽
i looooved foster, excited for you to read !! and yes brothers karamazov is one of the books on my list for january hehe
Such a good list ❤ Eileen is next on my TBR to read in the run up to Christmas . Also can't wait to read Small things like these. I read Crime & Punishment in September after wanting to read it for years and it was so bleak so I feel like it might be even more depressing in winter !!!! 😅
thank you so much angel! hope you enjoys these books <3 crime and punishment is def a heavy read, proceed with caution !!
I was just thinking Eileen oddly fits the season. I still need to check out the movie, and the Small Things Like These film as well. I haven't read Our Wives Under the Sea or All the Lovers in the Night yet. My big winter read this month is Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin.
I still haven't seen the movies eileen or small things like these either yet !! need to get round to them this christmas when I have more time lol
Love this video!! You’re inspiring me to finally tackle Dostoyevsky hahaha, maybe this winter… Also gotta say The Road is probably my least favourite book of all time 😂 it’s always interesting to hear how it worked for other ppl
thank you !! haha hope you enjoy (: don't worry I can totally see how people may dislike the road - I just enjoy v dark reads!
I love this list. Thank you! Love your vids. ❤

The more you talk about "The road", the sooner I want to read it, but no I have to finish the book I'm currently in the middle of and save "The Road" until the end of the month/beginning of next year in exam season. Brightly Shining by Ingvild Rishoi is a short 177 page read with the vibe and emotion of a Claire Keegan book.
omg love to hear this, anything with the same vibe of claire keegan has me sold - thanks for the rec !!
Another wintery book is Ice by Anna Kavan. It's a surrealist novel written in the Sixties about a post-nuclear apocalypse world buried in an eternal winter, similar to McCarthy's book!

@@donmujtaba wonderful!
Only 2-3 months ago i was on a draught ,and couldnt find any good books to read. Now i have 6 whole big series : ( game of thrones , Storm light archive , malazan the rise of the fallen , shogun , dune and the girl with the dragon tattoo (and its sequels )). + A fair few number of other books.
@@donmujtaba glad you have many books to keep you busy !!
I have yet to read Wicked. I heard that it can be convoluted. The only one I read here is The Hunger Games.
it certainly is convoluted! not an easy read lol
I’m reading Wicked now. I already knew it was completely different than the musical because my daughter has read it. So far I would also give it 3 stars. I tried watching the series Sharp Objects but gave up after a couple of episodes as it was dragging…my library has the book so I may try it after your review.
ooo let me know what you think after finishing wicked! and wow everyone i know who has watched the tv show loved it, i wonder if the pace is slower than the book
if you’re looking for another book relating to grief can i recommend “they’re going to love you” by meg howrey? i picked it up randomly this year and it’s unexpectedly become my favourite book like i am telling every single person i speak to to read it lol, it’s honestly amazing but i haven’t seen anyone talking about it! the way it explores grief and the feelings of regret when someone you have a strained relationship with becomes ill was just so emotionally devastating
wow this sounds phenomenal !! i've never heard of this book before but i'll definitely check it out - thank you! <3
"I don't know why I get so freaked outby the passage of time but here we are" SO REAL.
having my daily existential crisis on youtube x
@ as a ✨treat✨
You should try reading the stormlight archive !!!!
ooo what is the series about??
It’s a high fantasy series that follows a broken hero trying to rediscover his purpose. It’s really hard to explain without giving too much away but the series has great world building and amazing characters. Just know that some of the main themes include war, morality, bearing a tortured past, and autonomy. It’s definitely long but so engaging!
This my thing with the thriller I always always know the twist but I don't think this effect, the surprise is important but I guess the suspense is more important, I would love to read novel where you told from the first page who is the Psychopath and then tell me what happened for him to reach this point
hmm i think for me knowing who it is goes hand in hand with suspense - i can find out who the culprit is but would still like an unpredictable plot, if that makes sense? like in the secret history, you know from the first page the group killed their friend, but it's the suspense and actions that lead up to that which is what makes it interesting (i think i sometimes find crime novels lack an interesting and unpredictable plot to keep me engaged)
@katerinareem I understand you , it's easy to figure out who did , last month I read one called " insomnia" and I figured the twist because I was thinking " oh who the last person could do , yes that who did it " and that why the thrillers feel lack to me recently, I read "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie " months ago and I think it the only one I read this year with twist I didn't see coming
I'm so glad you are recovering after your surgery.
thank you !!
A half star - oof but sounds warranted
it was a painful read lol
