    For me it would probably be 2 things: 1) a dead simple UI like old maglite and streamlight flashlights where its just on or off, no flashing, no strobes; 2) tail switch so I can just hand the flashlight to someone else when necessary and they know to just click the switch to turn it on or off. I don't really need too much light output or a really long throw, something for looking at closer objects indoors is what I learn towards to.

  • @abunk8691
    @abunk8691 2 часа назад

    My WK03 arrived the other day and I got the black one with the SST-40 6000~6500K 1800 Lumens. Its about ~$14 USD normally and about ~$11 USD on sale and I got mine for ~$8.50 USD and its a pretty damn good value for the price. The lockout mode wasn't something I expected to use but I realize that while running the switch was getting hit by other objects in my bag. So I engaged lockout and it was all good. Mine also arrived with a free magnetic tailcap, not sure yet what I'll use it for since the WK03 isn't a right angle light where the magnetic cap would be really useful. So for now I'll be using the regilar tail cap. I would have loved if the clip could be flipped since I could just wear a cap and clip it on there for convenience, but yeah the body can't be flipped.

    • @PardonMyEnglish
      @PardonMyEnglish Час назад

      Holy cow, 8.50 is the lowest price I’ve heard of for an 18650 flashlight. The inclusion of the magnetic tail is nice. Flipping the clip would be nice. Perhaps this will be accomplished on future versions but this light is still fantastic -especially for that price.

    • @abunk8691
      @abunk8691 Час назад

      @@PardonMyEnglish Yeah the price of 8.50 (more of 500 in the local currency in my area) is stupidly low that I really had to pull on it. More powerful flashlights like the Sofirn SC31T and SC31 Pro are about 18~20 USD and I find that it's weirdly cheaper than what I find online on reviews like yours. But I didn't pull on them (yet) since I don't need too bright of a light right now.

  • @abunk8691
    @abunk8691 13 часов назад

    I was checking for reviews and stumbled upon yout review of the Sofirn LT1S and this got recommended while watching that. What got me to flashlights was pretty simple: 1. I take long walks around sunset and sometimes I go for 2~3hrs instead of 1hr and end up way past sunset in the dark as the areas I take my walks aren't that well lit (sone parts no lights at all) so I end up walking in the dark in an area with not much people and only my phone as the light. 2. Storms and power outages. Not fun waking up at 5am in the dark with no power and having to go around the house checking for leaks and problems caused by storms. 3. My dad is a former firefighter and he had a bunch of lead acid-based halogen lights and a Ni-Cd based Streamlight always in standby until he retired and the batteries of those also failed with age. The 1st one I got a generic "XHP50" clone flashlight back near the end of 2021. It was my first one and for about $11~12 USD equivalent at the time it served my purpose of lighting the area during my walks. Controls were not great as it always goes High-Medium-Low-Strobe-SOS. (For this one I lucked out since the same flashlight design of black aluminum body, 4 blue leds, 18650/26650 battery, zoomy lens also has versions that were significantly worse and were all plastic.) The 2nd one is more recent and I got a Wurkkos WK03 and it's a lot nicer. More compact, brighter, better switch controls. Specific button inputs for Moonlight and Turbo along with the memory of the last mode is a big benefit of the WK03. While it has longer throw than the "XHP50" its worse for close range. Now I'm back to my thoughts when I got my 1st flashlight of getting my parents an easy to use one for use at home because all the old ones are dead due to being lead acid based. The 1st flashlight is unfit due to the controls. The WK03 might also not be due to being too small and they would find the controls confusing. So now I'm thinking what model could I get them that is: a) at most maybe 1000 lumens since its just for indoors; b) if possible tail switch so they can easily figure it out; c) use 18650 batteries (already got some from laptop batteries I took apart); d) integrated charging so they don't risk putting the battery back in reverse; e) not be too expensive (max $15 USD) For everything but b) I could get the Sofirn/Wurkkos S11 for about $6.50 USD on sale. But for b (tail switch) I only see worse flashlights that go for similar money but are less bright, worse color, and weirdly bulky and big. Do you think should I just go and grab 2 of the S11's for them and forgo having a tail switch? or do you have other models that you can suggest?

    • @abunk8691
      @abunk8691 13 часов назад

      Apologies that my comment gone long haha. Funnily an uncle of mine was intro maglites and flashlights, but fell out it after his use for them shrank and seeing my "XHP50" flashlight outshine the headlights of his motorbike when I rode with him at night on a bumpy dark road made him jump back into it and get a flashlight once again but this time a lithium battery one that lasts longer. During that trip my flashlight because the headlights for a good 15mins LOL.

    You can safely use a magnet or even something metallic as a simple screw or nut to charge 14450 and 10440 on it as far as the battery doesn't have a positive and also negative areas on top as some proprietary Nitecore batteries.

    Thanks for your review. It looks like a nice light, especially for the $20 it costs with the 30% Amazon coupon. The gold color looks great. According to the Wurkkos website, the 519A model has brightness levels of 2, 15, 150, 500 & 1200 lumens, while the SST40 model lists 3, 100, 350, 800 & 1800 lumens. I wish the 519A model had a brightness level between 15 and 150, maybe 50 or 60 lumens. I also wish Wurkkos would put a deep-carry, two-way pocket clip on these lights.

    • @PardonMyEnglish
      @PardonMyEnglish 5 дней назад

      Good question. I think it comes down to the design of the flashlight. The i3E was not designed to use 3.7v batteries. I think that is why they are not recommended. Some people use them in the flashlight anyways but note that excess heat is generated.

    I have a 2023 model 5k and they seem to be equivalent to an Olight Baton 3 but less expensive & a better tint in my opinion. It's small, puts out a pretty good beam, and has an uncomplicated UI. I saw that one on the Wurkkos website but I as I already have a black one, I didn't pick it up. The WK15 are the 21700 version of the WK03 and has a couple of different emitters offering either spot or flood favored patterns. I've dropped mine more than I should have & they keep on working.

    I wish they weren't after the highest numbers possible for these small lights. 200 lumen is great but in case of an AAA it runs out of juice too fast. And 5 lumen mode is just not enough for me. Still looking forward to an AAA light with a tail switch and 50ish lumen mode that would give a decent amount of light and let the AAA run for a while.

    Good review. While I could see this being a pretty neat light for camping and other outdoor activities as well as maybe areas where you're plagued by regular power outages or such, I feel like they once again missed some opportunities with that one. In my opinion, the 360° ring should've been RGB instead of warm white or, at the very least, have the option to switch between warm and cool white to make use of it as a desk lamp while working, for which warm white isn't ideal. Furthermore, I think a combined mode where the ring and the front light are on at the same time would've made for a good room-filling illumination. Not a fan of the proprietary charging base at all, though. It's bad enough they go all proprietary on their batteries and such but the fact that they can't even establish and maintain a streamlined charging system with their own products is beyond me. That's exactly the stuff that drives people to other brands.

    Good to know I've been running a 10440 battery in my i3e for a year or more and never tried it on my 20+ other's. Now i need to test them lol. The glow in the dark fill on that light is amazing!! Did you do it? I know someone thats awesome that does stuff like that in the olight community now I'm wondering if that is his work.

      Thanks! Glow in the dark is a good idea but I just put a little paint (nail polish) in the grooves of mine.

      Oh no!! I think stacking the batteries doubles the voltage to about 7.4 which is why 10440s don’t work in the i3T Plus.

    Experience personally I would not use the convoy batteries. I would get something from USA

      I don’t believe so. I didn’t see it in the options on the website.

    Does the demonfire fit in the olight properly? Mine doesn’t screw al the way down

    • @PardonMyEnglish
      @PardonMyEnglish Месяц назад

      It is a tight fit but it helps to screw and unscrew the end cap a few times.

    Did you have any issues with the demonfire fitting in the light? Mine doesn’t screw al the way and when I forced it the battery started to over heat.

      It is a tight fit but it helps to screw and unscrew the end cap a few times (the spring does get pretty compressed).

    I picked up the Javelot in OD green with the last flash sale. Just charged it up. Now to wait for darkness… I don’t have a specific role for this thrower other than for fun

      Nice! The OD Green looks great and the good news is that it’s definitely fun to have a thrower like that 👍
