Sounds very nice. You’ve got a good handle on the mix and look ready to put in some excellent work. It’s cool hearing quality piano playing alongside the euro rig. Are you mixing drums in the laptop, or via the hardware mixer? I’d rec the UA Ampex for smoothing the mids of the snare - its only $39 right now. Seems you’re mixing hardware, though, which looks super fun. It’s a versatile setup. Good luck.

I buy "wherever" I can get a deal I find acceptable, but I try and always sell on Craigslist. I'd rather take the "lower" price there and have no paper trail or taxes. It usually comes out about the same profit or more.

When I see modules lile these, I realize how little my setup actually is. This is amazing.

I got into Eurorack because I stream content and my viewers like blinky lights and music. I also have a server rack sitting next to me with a 3u 84hp eurorack system in it that's gonna get filled out and a camera attached.

I've been doing this for 40 years. Though I've made money on rare occasions, both playing and selling guitars, I'd probably be a millionaire if I had put that money in the stock market instead. That's why it's called a Hobby. It costs money to do it. Given the state of music stores these days, it's probably the only way to experience new equipment and guitars. Now, at 64 I just accept it as the cost of my hobby, and not be in a hurry to sell what I want to sell. It moves eventually.

So, about three years later, maybe it's time for a review episode on how this original vision matches what you actually do on the channel, what goals have changed, what new goals have emerged, what has fallen on the wayside or outright abandoned, and what worked really well. I only found your channel today, have watched a few bits here and there, and I like what I see and hear a lot - right from the get go you have found your own voice and your own style in this format, and you're not chasing the algorithm or making funny faces for a thumbnail (I really hate that phenomenon btw). An interesting topic you could cover is bridging the worlds of synthetic sounds and organic sounds, in which ways that creates issues to solve, what works really well together, and maybe even some creative examples of using very different tonalities outside the usual "epic" trailer music hybrid genre. Just a suggestion in case you're looking for an interesting topic to dive into, that has not been done to death.

So I have just recently gotten into Eurorack (about 1 year ago) and for me, the whole package is attractive. I love spending tons of time researching modules, trying them out on vcv, imagining and testing what they can do. I love the look of the whole thing, all the different esthetics that eurorack companies come up with. I am into DIY and so far have successfully built about 4 modules (that i'm very proud of), so it has taught me the basics of soldering, electric circuits and the rad feeling of soldering a kit on a weekend and then (fingers crossed) seeing it all work perfectly. I do think that eurorack is no way to efficiently produce any synth sound and use it in a fast-paced music production environment. For me it more like an exploration of technology and sound that I personally enjoy, that gives me something to look forward to, that grows with my skills. But I am a professional video game music composer and have used my modules in many tracks. Every time i use my gear it brings the fun of exploration to the project, a more intimate connection to the sounds i produce. Now that's all subjective and I can totally see that eurorack would be extremely frustrating for maybe even the majority of people, but for me the whole package hits a spot, it just tickles my brain in all the right ways.

I appreciate your advice on how to have a system to learn about new modules. I'm discovering things weeks or months after buying a module because I didn't spend the time to properly learn about each module when I bought it. You're inspiring me to do a proper job of learning about these myself. Thank you!

This is all very interesting but my observation is this, your first sketch was repetitive and unimaginative compared the third incarnation. However the third incarnation does need more developing with interesting embellishments to make it a complete work. The link to modular seems completely irrelevant to the idea you are trying to express. Most modular music is repetitive and unimaginative too because people copy other people and it all ends up with the same ideas. Especially when using the same modular brands, for want of a better word. Buchla demos on youtube are always random un musical bleeping and Mutable Instruments rigs are always spacey etc. So really the thing to work on is using the instruments you have in more original ways. I hope I'm expressing what I mean clearly.

100% agree. Reverb used to charge 3.5% plus payment fees. Now it is 5.0% plus payment... just much harder to transact like that. I am making a lot more by selling on TheGearPage. Less seller protection but it works.

lets see... if I want 8 voice polyphony, that would be 8 copies of my Eurorack... so I'd need to work 9 jobs.

I noticed when I do such a planned arrangement in comparison to arrange the parts live-ish, my tracks become more "catchy”, but often also become in a way unexciting and dull.

Bro you're right you knew me before I even clicked on the video, I'm never going to buy anything I'm going to cuss at poorly captioned videos in languages I don't understand zooming into tiny pixels until I beat my head against so many clocks that I will be able to build a minimoog copy in my sleep.

You can set the exact tempo. Top line of lights = 100's, Next Line = 10's Next line = units. Hold shift whilst turning the tempo knob.

This is why I learned how to build DIY modules. Saved a couple grand that way.

maths needs VC for its antenuverters. Other than that, its perfect! (okay, it would be lovely to control the log -> exp via VC to... oh, and function's "hang" while we're at it...)

i started with vcv rack a couple of years ago, never looked back. The only downside for me is the process of linking my midi controllers to the vcv patch.

I've never had anything too bad happen while buying or selling on reverb. If I buy something and then later decide to sell it at a loss, I think about how much it would have cost to rent that piece of gear during the time I had it. I don't use the bump feature anymore unless I have a real dog of a product that I'm trying to unload. I also use Pirate Ship when I offer free shipping. It's a better deal than the Reverb shipping label. I've sold a guitar, a bunch of pedals and even an Ampeg V4 stack. The only time I had a problem was when a buyer accidentally made a duplicate offer to me and another seller. We both had the same item at the same price. The other guy got the sale. It was only a minor annoyance. I didn't lose any money and I sold my unit a few days later.

It really fucks me off how difficult it is to verify my account. I'm currently in my overdraft, and they say I can't verify my account until I have at least £300 free. THE WHOLE FUCKING REASON IM SELLING MY EQUIPMENT IS TO GET OUT OF MY OVERDRAFT!!! I told them I can legit verify my details in a hundred different ways, and I tried to call their support number, but they give you an automated message, tell you to piss off to their website, then hang up! Buying on Reverb is great, Selling is a fucking nightmare

FX Aid is definitely in this catagory for me, also Plaits and Braids are a given. Plus, now with Noise Engineering doing their series of reprogrammable modules like the Legio platform, you basically get like 6 modules when you buy any one of them.

This is very relatable to me at the moment. I'm enjoying a cycle... Arrange, de-arrange, arrange, de-arrange, re-arrange, derange... Arrange. For me the result is a bit closer to the lawful improv you get among skilful band members. Musicians can know which note comes next, play it, not play it, or subvert expectations, etc. Musicians play off each other. Deconstructing composition, I'm learning to play off my own expectations a bit better.

The piano playing has maybe 50 millisecond pauses when you get the idea of how to proceed. Wish I could come up with the next part that fast.

Thanks im trying to get a feel on selling my high end record players, eaualizers, amps, and speackers as well as sone audio recording equioment im still researching that i came into. Just trying to fugure all this out as ive only used ebay in past.
