Driving to Chicago, I stopped at Sweetwater. Well worth the visit. They have every synth keyboard from their inventory on display, each w/ small speakers to demo. Well worth the visit to actually play them. YT videos don't do them justice. However... they have no eurorack modules for demo.
Unlike most electronic music gear Eurorack modules can't be evaluated live absent being in a system of other modules. The use of a particular module is only determinable as part of a group of other modules. Which other modules? There are hundreds of possibilities. It wouldn't be practical for a retailer to have an entire wall full of all of the modules that they sell so customers could evaluate how they work in conjunction with each other. I also doubt that retailers would be happy to have individual customers spending hours in the store patching up various Eurorack combinations to evaluate a particular product or products. The good news is that many Eurorack modules maintain a higher resale value relative to the original purchase price than a lot of other music gear. You can buy and sell used Eurorack modules without taking as large a hit to your wallet as would occur with other gear. I just recently got into Eurorack. I have 64 different modules, purchased both new and used, that fill six 3U x 64hp racks mounted in NEMA rack cabinets. Note: Sweetwater does sell demo products, including Eurorack modules. I have purchased a few myself.
@@avsystem3142 Using your logic, no retailer would have eurorack modules on display. Yet, many do, because you CAN demo modules because for the most part an LFO is an LFO, an EG is an EG, Mixer is a mixer and so on w/ only minor differences. Sheesh...
Good idea! I had't really considered this before. I might go on some forums and see if there are people close to me that I could do this with, but then meet and swap the gear in person. Preferably, I'll find someone who's as pedantic as me when it comes to taking care of your instruments.
Where can we find your music on Bandcamp or your cinema work? This would be great in relation to your use of the equipment on the channel. Artists work usually just appears, very few discuss the actual equipment and sound choices. Thank you.
Yeah that's a great idea and I just haven't had a chance to wrangle that stuff. Just did a random search and found one. I have mixed feelings because I don't own any of my music and have zero control over its use. So it's never been a priority promote it or talk about it. But this definitely deserves its own video. Thanks for the reminder! :) I'll try to find a few more. doublefine.bandcamp.com/album/the-cave-original-soundtrack
Hmm, .. interesting idea, exchanging gear .. and the realities, or risks involved .. since, probably for most of us, we run out of budget, way before running out of curiosity about appealing looking music/sound products. Or, if there were a club to join, that could whisk me around the world, to visit various eurorack studios, with the owners being tour guides, in person .. I'd hop on that train. But, RUclips videos do scratch that itch, to a degree. You bringing in your instruments & playing them .. that too, is something nice to be reminded of. I was noticing, with you being at your keyboard .. obviously, a real instrument giving a person total freedom over note choices and all the other dynamics, that follow .. versus trying to having circuitry do this same kind of work. I still have yet, to explore the idea of marrying analog sound (music instruments) into Eurorack. Bitbox, Micro is going to be my tool, for this attempt. Oh, .. and also use the buffer on MI Beads, with it being froze, .. looks promising, too. .. :)
I think it would be nice to see how your friend feels and approaches his workflow. This world seems to prove a little hard to meet people that play with these things. So just knowing how you to interact on the level. I think it would be great and I would also be nervous. That being said its non-judgmental here and we would be very interested in meeting your friend. Good Luck
Huh... you know I really really like this idea.

HA! You pretty much summed up my entire reason for my video! :) thanks for stopping by!
